As the first facility of VLBI (very long baseline interferometer) observation, KVN (Korean VLBI network) consists of three radio observatories, which sites are KVN Yonsei, KVN Ulsan and KVN Tamna. In each radio observatory, more than ten terabytes of data are produced during VLBI observation. But in traditional method, this massive VLBI data recorded in magnetic tape or HDD is transferred to correlation center by transportation, which cause much loss of time and research products. To solve this problem, e-VLBI technology which transfers massive observation data from each radio observatory to correlation center via high speed network has been appeared, and we are now design this concept in KVN by using KREONET (Korea research environment open network). In this paper, we discuss the appropriate protocol to transfer massive VLBI data from each radio observatory to correlation center. To do this, we evaluate the transmission performance of protocols used widely in the field of research and education such as GridFTP, Rapidant, Tsunami UDP and UDT4.

Infrared color-color diagram of 10 giant molecular clouds are examined to explore the dust property from the COBE Diffuse Infrared Background Experiment of the 100, 140, and $240{\mu}m$ emission. Four of them, Taurus, Mon OB1, Gem OB1, and Chameleon, show the anti-correlation in $R_{100/140}-R_{140/240}$ plot and the horizontal distribution in $R_{100/240}-R_{140/240}$ plot, which disagree with those of theoretical calculation. These could be explained by the depletion of $100{\mu}m$ and the excess of $140{\mu}m$ emission, though no existing dust model could support them. Mean color temperature of the anti-correlation region appears to be lower than that of the linear region, whose temperatures are 15.3, 17.0 K, respectively. And the linear region shows large dispersion in the plot of intensity relation. Both imply that a star formation would be more active, but not homogeneous, in the linear region compared to the anti-correlation region.

e-VLBI was invented to enhance the efficiency of VLBI (Very-Long-Baseline Interferometry) system by transmitting the data via high speed network. Korean VLBI Network (KVN) has a plan to construct e-VLBI system named e-KVN. High speed backbone network and efficient network model are essential to implement successful e-VLBI system. This paper introduces a network model based on PC cluster technology. The present status of high speed backbone network in Korea is overviewed. We suggest that the network link via Korea Advanced Research Network (KOREN) is one of feasible way for e-KVN. We also describe the principles of e-VLBI and protocol for network transmission such as VSI-E (VLBI Standard Interface - Electronic), RTP (Real-Time Transport Protocol) and RTCP (Real-Time Transport Control protocol).

Additionally, we`suggest upgraded data transfer system with this improvements.``

본 논문에서 우리는 대용량 데이터를 보다 효과적으로 전송할 수 있는 프로그램 구현 및 시스템 최적화에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 수백 ~ 수천 km 떨어진 전파망원경을 이용해 천체를 관측하는 VLBI에서 각 관측소는 수 TB에 달하는 대용량 데이터를 상관센터로 전송하여야 한다. 이에 따라 보다 효율적으로 데이터를 전송할 수 있도록 전세계적으로 초고속 네트워크를 활용한 e-VLBI 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 연구 추세에 따라 초고속 네트워크 상에서 Gbps 급의 VLBI 데이터를 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는 프로그램 설계 및 시스템 구축에 대해 기술하였다. 기존의 VTP(VLBI Transport Protocol) 기반 데이터 전송을 넘어 보다 신속한 데이터 전달이 가능하도록 전송 프로그램 설계에 있어 UDP를 적용하였다. 이를 위해 현재 사용되는 VTP 프로그램에 Tsunami-UDP 알고리즘을 이식하여 데이터 전달에 있어 성능을 극대화하였고, 시스템 최적화를 통해 보다 신속하고 안정적으로 KVN 각 사이트 간 데이터 전송이 구현될 수 있도록 하였다. In this paper, we discuss the program implementation and system optimization for the effective transfer of huge amount of data. In VLBI which is observing the celestial bodies by using radio telescope hundreds thousands km apart, it is necessary for each VLBI observatory to transfer up to terabytes of observed data. For this reason, e-VLBI research based on advanced network is being actively carried out for the transfer of data efficiently. Following this trend, in this paper, we discuss design & implementation of system for the high speed Gbps data transfer rates. As a data transfer protocol, we use UDP for designing data transmission program with much higher speeds than currently available via VTP(VLBI Transport Protocol). Tsunami-UDP algorithms is applied to implementing data transfer program so that transmission performance could be maximize, also we make it possible to transfer observed data more fast and reliable through optimization of computer systems in each VLBI statopm.

This study was performed to investigate background levels of barium (Ba), chromium (Cr) in Korean geological units. Also, the BCR sequential extraction method was conducted to identify chemical distribution of those compounds in Korean geological units and the simple bioavailability extraction test (SBET) was conducted to evaluate bioaccessibility. The soil samples taken from 17 sites were analyzed to survey background levels. The average concentrations and ranges for metals are as follows; Ba: 74.20 (23.25 ~ 171.28), Cr: 26.48 (6.74 ~ 75.89) mg/kg. The BCR sequential extraction method was conducted to identify chemical distributional existence of 2 elements of soils from each geological unit. Cr in soils mainly exist as residual form. However, in case of Ba, ion exchangeble and reducible form were relatively high compared with other metals. SBET bioaccessibility of metals were in the order of Ba (47.6%), Cr (0.8%). The results of speciations, and bioaccessibilities of metals in this study can be used to provide a fundamental data to set soil pollution standards and to evaluate the soil contamination level.

In this paper, we present a night-time vehicle detection method using CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) classification. The camera based night-time vehicle detection plays an important role on various advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as automatic head-lamp control system. The method consists mainly of thresholding, labeling and classification steps. The classification step is implemented by existing CIFAR-10 model CNN. Through the simulations tested on real road video, we show that CNN classification is a good alternative for night-time vehicle detection.
대용량 VLBI 데이터 전송을 위한 네트워크 설계 및 시스템 관리

In this paper, we discuss the network design and construction, which is correspond to the basis for the implementation of e-VLBI. Because the data acquired from VLBI observation is high speed of Gbps, it is hard to satisfy astronomers`s demand of high speed data transfer by the use of general network. It is necessary to upgrade of all over the network from backbone to metro or local area, and proper network systems should be installed. For this reason, we designate KREONET(Korea REsearch Open NETwork) administered by the KISTI as e-KVN(Korean VLBI Network)`s backone network, and KT`s MSPP(Multi Service Provisioning Platform) was used as metro network. We install optical device modules and network switch as well as organize network of VLBI systems. It allows KVN to have a network architecture that could transfer observed VLBI data at Gbps speed. Also, we apply VLAN(Virtual LAN) configuration to e-KVN for the network integration and efficient management
