        Physicochemical properties and oxidative stability of corn oil in infrared-based and hot air-circulating cookers

        Corn oil was heated using an infrared cooker, an air fryer, and a cooking oven at similar temperatures, and oxidative stability and physicochemical properties including moisture content, temperature change, the profile of headspace volatiles, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde of the heated oils were compared. Corn oil heated using the air fryer showed the lowest degree of oxidation, followed by that heated using the infrared cooker and the cooking oven. However, the content of headspace volatiles in 120 min heated oil using the infrared cooker was higher by 2.57 and 5.37 times than that in oil heated using the cooking oven and the air fryer, respectively. The profiles of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde in oils showed patterns inconsistent with those of headspace volatile and oxidation parameters. Generally, the air fryer-treated oil underwent slow lipid oxidation, whereas oil from the infrared cooker had more volatiles and imparted odor to foods.

        Thiemann's Disease: a Case Report

        Thiemann's disease is a form of idiopathic avascular necrosis of the immature epiphyses of the phalanges of the fingers and toes. Few cases of Thiemann's disease have been reported because the disease is rare and difficult to diagnose. To the best of our knowledge, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of Thiemann's disease have not been reported. Here, we report a case of Thiemann's disease diagnosed by typical clinical symptoms and characteristic MRI findings before radiologic bony abnormalities were apparent.

        Periductal Stromal Sarcoma of the Breast: a Case Report

        Periductal stromal sarcoma (PSS) is a type of rare malignant fibroepithelial tumor. PSS is a recently introduced diagnostic entity and there are few reports about radiological features of this tumor. Pre-operative diagnosis is difficult because it reveals similar symptoms with other benign and malignant tumors with absence of specific radiologic findings. We present a woman age 30 that underwent mammotome biopsy for a BI-RADS 4 lesion on her left breast and received histopathology diagnosis of a phyllodes tumor. Additionally, she underwent a wide excision depending on her histopathology diagnosis. Her final diagnosis was PSS. Six months later, no recurrence was detected. However, frequent follow-up is needed because PSS can develop into phyllodes tumor or entity of breast cancer.

        Bleomycin으로 유발한 폐약(肺弱) 태음인 동물 모델에서의 비만에 대한 영향 평가

        Objectives The objective of this study is to develop a taeeumin animal-experimental model induced lung fibrosis with Bleomycin and evaluate the effect on obesity in this animal-experimental model.Methods The subjects were divided into 3 groups : normal group, high fat diet(HFD) control group, and HFD group administered with bleomycin(n=10 per group). To develop taeeumin animal-experimental model with reduced respiratory metabolism, 8-week-old C57BL/6 mice were administered with 0.03ml solution of bleomycin 1U/ml dissolved in distilled water, intratracheal(IT), once. Then, the HFD control group and the experimental group were fed with high fat diet for 6 weeks. Airway hyperresponsiveness(AHR) to methacholine was measured at the 1st and 3rd week after bleomycin was administered. Food intake and body weight were measured at regular time weekly. After the final experiment, blood was gathered by cardiac puncture for bloodchemical examination and organs(liver, fatty tissue) were remoed, weighted, and mRNA was analyzed.Results and Conclusions Through the experiment, it was found that Bleomycin induced Taeeumin animal-experimental models have leptin resistace. In the experimental group administered with Bleomycin, fatty acid synthesizing gene expression increased and energy metabolizing gene expression decreased. As mRNA expression of adiponectin decreased, it was found that Taeeuim animal-experimental model is susceptible to metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases.

      • 신인격교육론에 대한 분석적 연구

        This study is aimed to suggest the appropriate directions and practical methods in moral education by analyze the aims, the contents, and the methods of the new integrated character education. The important findings are as follows. 1. Aims of new character education The aim of new character education is to cultivate the moral character effectively, and to integrate cognitive, affective, and behavioral elements of character into a whole and clear self-identity. Educator must help children finding a way to understand and strengthen development of good and right. Character education have many problems inherently, such as moral idealism, conservatism, ambiguous and indefinite meaning of character. So it have to attempt to balance and integrate both intelligence and behavior, and to cultivate both virtues and autonomous morality. 2. Contents of new character education Character education put the key point in the contents of moral education by suggesting the bag of virtues such as the traditional, prosocial, and democratic values as rules of moral behavior. But there are many points of dispute about teaching virtues, for instance, arbitrariness of the choice of the virtues in multicultural society, ethical relativism, indoctrination of adult standard, etc. New character education should intend to involve both content and form, virtues and principles, habit and reason, socialization and development, and all of cognition, affection, and behavior. 3. Methods of new character education Character education have a variety of approaches to build up good character, for example, moral reflection, moral story telling, moral modeling, volunteer service learning, and cooperative group learning. It focalize in exercising moral action and the expansion of moral habit. The characteristics of methodology in character education are teacher's modeling, change of classroom and school into a moral community, volunteer service, and cooperation structure of the home, the school, and the local community. There are many difficulties in ① making competent teachers who have much influence on children, ② improving the existing school climate and institution, ③reducing the psychological conflict caused by inculcating concrete character traits and virtues. The direction of new character education is not complete resurrection of the old character education but compensatory integration of the rational approach.

      • 자기조절학습에서의 피드백의 역할

        Self-Regulated learning is inherent in knowledge construction-learning-though it may be carried out suboptimally or may be oriented in a way contrary to objectives set by educators. Monitoring is the hub of self-regulated task engagement and the internal feedback it generates is critical in shaping the evolving pattern of a learner's engagement with a task. Butler and Winne's model identifies this role for monitoring and feedback, and acknowledges that feedback information blends with other information to affect a learner's knowledge and beliefs about the domain and tasks, learning processes and products, and performance. It is clear that students sometimes experience difficulties in learning. Framed in terms of self-regulation, difficulties can arise when students examine information about a task's structure, adopt or set their own goals, select and implement the cognitive tactics and strategies that constitute learning, and monitor their performance. Feedback is information with which a learner can confirm, add to, overwrite, tune, or restructure information in memory, whether that information is domain knowledge, metacognitive knowledge, beliefs about self and tasks, or cognitive tactics and strategies. Differentiating these functions of feedback using a broadly framed model of self-regulation, both illuminates how traditional research on feedback has focused too narrowly on feedback's effects on achievement and allows a synthesis of diverse studies on feedback and instruction. Adopting a more inclusive view of how feedback contributes to self-regulation suggests that research must attend to interacting factors that jointly affect events in patterns of engagement that unfold as successively recursive states, and must integrates instruction, self-regulation, feedback, and knowledge construction.

      • 평판-핀의 2차원 성능 해석

        Heat loss, fin effectiveness and efficiency of a plate fin are investigated as a function of non-dimensional fin length and Biot number using a two-dimensional separation of variables method. The value of temperature of the left side is set to be different from that of the right side for this plate fin to satisfy the real physical condition. Also temperature distribution within this plate fin is listed. One of the results shows that the fin can be considered to be useful in view of fin effectiveness on the given range of Biot number when non-dimensional fin length is larger than 3.
