        우리나라 병원의 마케팅 활동수준과 재무성과

        The main objective oh this paper is to perform an empirical analysis on the relationship between various marketing activities and financial performance of Korean hospitals. A survey was conducted through structured questionnaire for 495 hospitals, and data from 218 hospitals were utilized in the final analysis. (response rate : 44%) Survey items include general characteristics of the hospitals (size, type, location), degree of competition, financial performance, marketing organization/ budget, and level of various marketing activities in service development, access improvement, promotion, and pricing. We examine descriptive statistics of the response scores on marketing activities to evaluate the current status of marketing management of Korean hospitals, compare the results across hospital size, type and location, and perform regression analysis to investigate the relationship between marketing and financial performance. Major findings are as follows : 1) About 46% of the responding hospitals gave marketing departments although they are named as 'planning' or 'PR' departments, and the marketing budget on average represents 1.74% of the total expenditures. 2) Average level of marketing activities is calculated to be about 3.32 on 5-point scale, meaning that Korean hospitals implement their marketing programs 'somewhat actively'; however, the scores on the areas of marketing planning and strategy are relatively low. 3) Large hospitals tend to be more active in marketing than small hospitals, and public hospitals' activities in marketing are not lower compared to private hospitals. 4) Level of overall marketing activities is positively related with financial performance measured by various financial indicators except for profitability, implying that marketing is successful in revenue generation but needs to be more cost-effective. Also, when the marketing variables are separately included in the regression, no significant relationship is found, which means that various marketing activities are more effective when they are collectively implemented.

        장기균형환율의 결정요인

        Under the Balassa-Samuelson model, the long-run equilibrium exchange rate condition is derived by assuming that the wage in the tradable goods equals that in the non-tradable goods. This paper relaxes this assumption and empirically examines the importance of wage differential between tradable and non-tradable goods in the long-run exchange rate. The cointegration analyses show that, in both nominal won/dollar exchange rate and in nominal effective exchange rate of won, the long-run equilibrium patterns in exchange rates are not found with the classical Balassa-Samuelson model. However, with the wage differential in the model, we find a strong long-run equilibrium in exchange rate. Based on the results, it is suggested that wage differential which also accounts for the differences in the labor market between tradable and non-tradable goods, should be included to analyze the long-run movement in the nominal exchange rate.

        司馬遷의 경제관에 관한 몇 가지 검토 : 경제지리와 도시경제에 따른 致富 양상을 중심으로

        사마천은 국가의 富보다는 개인의 富 창출 욕구를 긍정적 시선으로 보고 있으며, 致富 과정에서 지리적 환경과 개인 역량의 중요성을 피력하였다. 사마천은 시장의 자발성을 강조하면서 유통의 중요성을 역설하고 누구든 富를 통해 신분이 격상될 수 있다고 구체적으로 적시하여 설명하고 있다. 사마천은 유통 경제의 발전이 환경조건과 결합 되어 있으며, 이런 점을 이용하지 않으면 부의 축적은 힘들 수 있음을 인식하였다. 즉, 교통의 요건 등을 감안한 입지선택이야말로 투자 전략의 기본 전제조건임을 설파하였으며, 이것이 致富를 위한 관건임을 도시별, 직업군별 사례로 들어 설명했다. 사마천의 이러한 지리적 환경 분석과 해당 지역의 物産양상 및 도시경제 위주의 경제지도 완성은 탁월한 식견을 보여주고 있어 영향력이 상당한데, 이는 답사를 통해 치밀하게 지리와 경제의 상관관계를 고찰한 데서 나왔다. 또 사마천의 자율경쟁정책은 漢 武帝 당시 鹽鐵의 專賣 등 국가의 경제독점권 및 과도한 조세 징수로 인한 문제점에 대한 비판과 대안의 성격도 아울러 지니고 있음을 고찰하였다. Sima Qian has more positive perspective on individual’s desire to create wealth than on national wealth, and stresses the importance of geographical environment and individual’s competence in the process of accumulating wealth. Sima Qian emphasizes the spontaneity of the market, stresses the importance of the distribution, and explains specifically and explicitly that whoever can upgrade one’s own status with wealth. Sima Qian recognizes that the development of logistic economy is related with environmental conditions and that it is hard to accumulate wealth unless using this aspect. In other words, he argues that the selection of location considering traffic conditions is the fundamental prerequisite for investment strategy, and that, with examples, explains this point as the key to accumulating wealth. Sima Qian also relates economic conditions with political situation, noting on the changes of political situation caused by financial fluctuation. Sima Qian’s outstanding insight, which is greatly influential, can be seen through his analysis on geographical environment and his completion of economic map focusing on the pattern of local goods production and urban economy. His insight was derived from his detailed investigation on the correlation between geography and economy. The noticeable point is that Sima Qian thought that a group of merchants were basically formed by the activation of goods exchange and distribution industry through the development of commerce and industry, the revolution of production tools triggered by such things as the invention of iron, and the activation of urban economy.

        서울 외국기업 주재원 임대주택의 가격결정요인 분석

        본고는 서울 주재 외국기업의 국적 및 산업의 임대주택 임대료에 대한 영향력 파악을 중심으로 임대료 결정요인을 분석했다. 분석 결과로서 미국, 영국, 프랑스 및 독일 기업은 동일업종을 기준으로 할 때 국적에 따라 임대료의 편차가 있으며 그 차이는 산업별로 상이한 것을 확인했다. 국적별 비교에서 미국과 영국은 임대료에 강한 영향을 끼쳐 임대료의 상승을 견인한 반면에 프랑스는 평균 이하의 임대료를 지급했다. 산업을 기준으로 할 때 은행, 제약, 석유화학 및 보험 산업이 임대료의 상승을 이끌었으며, 기계산업은 평균 이하의 임대료를 지급하는 것으로 나타났다. 지역별 주택유형과 임대료를 분석한 결과, 성북동은 모든 주택유형에서 주거비가 가장 비싸며 이태원 · 한남동이 그 다음이고, 반포 · 방배동의 임대료가 상대적으로 저렴했다. 분석 결과를 종합하면 물리적 특성의 상당수가 통계적으로 유의하여 물리적 특성이 입지특성 혹은 국적 및 산업특성보다 가격 결정에 큰 영향을 끼치는 것을 확인했으며, 할인매장과의 거리는 모든 분석 모형에서 유의하게 나타나 주거지 결정에 중요한 변수인 것으로 드러났다. The purpose of the study is to present an analysis of the expatriate leasing market for highly-paid professionals residing in Seoul. The effects of physical and locational attributes, range of amenities along with expat’s national and industrial attributes on housing rents are being empirically evaluated based on transactions. Using lease transaction data for the period of 1994 through 2013, the results show that physical and locational attributes which have been proved to affect conventional housing value are also confirmed to affect leasing housing rent for expatriate. Also this study finds the following results. First, housing rent is found to be influenced by foreign residents’ occupation. Therefore banking, petrochemical, insurer and pharmaceutical company affect positively on housing rent while mechanic firms influenced negatively to rent. Second, housing rent is found to be affected by foreign residents’ nationalities. The results indicate USA and the United Kingdom have a positive effect while French has a negative effect on rent.

        외국기업 주재원 임대주택의 거래빈도 결정요인 분석

        The article studies the possible factors that determine the popularity of rental housing units for expatriates in Seoul by employing the Poisson regression model. Previous literatures on the issue state that transaction frequency of housings is generally affected by market conditions, property conditions and other factors influencing buyer and seller decisions. Rental housing markets for expatriates working at foreign firms in Seoul are also presumed to be influenced by these attributes plus tenant characteristics. Using lease transaction data for the period of March 1984 through April 2013, the analysis finds out that as housing is getting smaller or its rent is getting lower, the transaction frequencies are increased. A similar results come out as did in the Previous Literatures of U.S. and H.K. The outcomes of the analysis indicate substantial variation in the incidence and the frequency of transaction across research areas and type of industry.
