치은연하 치석제거 및 치근활택술의 치석제거 효과에 대한 임상적 연구

This study presents an evaluation of the effectiveness of nonsurgical subgingival scaling and root planing related to initial pocket depth, type of teeth, and individual root surfaces. A total of 110 teeth designated for periodontal surgery in 67 patients with marginal periodontitis were selected and received thorough scaling and root planing with standard rigid Gracey curettes. After a healing period of 4 to 8 weeks, residual calculus was assessed at the time of periodontal surgery following the reflection of mucoperiosteal flap. The results demonstrated a high correlation between the percentage of residual calculus and initial pocket depth. It was further noted that tooth type and involved root surface also influenced the rate of calculus remnant. The results of this study suggest that complete removal of subgingival calculus utilizing conventional instrumentation via closed approach is rare.

To know whether or not there are bacteria producing excretory protease in Korean traditional fermented food, soybean paste (Doen-Jang), it was screened by methods of casein and gelatin hydrolysis, and seemingly different groups of bacteria were obtained. One strain was identified to be Bacillus cereus SH-7 through about fifty physiological, biochemical tests, and automatic identification system, VITEK system and MIDI system. This strain was a sporeforming, Gram(+), motile, and rod-shaped bacterium. The strain grew well at pH 7 and 37°C. Its extracellular protease showed optimal activity at pH 8 and 50°C. When 1%(W/V) casein was added to the medium, its activity was increased about 40% at 24 h. Also, hemolysis activity of Bacillus cereus SH-7 was observed.
일본 소비세 인상과 세대, 계층의 정치경제: 실버 민주주의론을 넘어서

This study analyzed individual attitudes toward consumption tax increases in Japan through voter surveys conducted in 2017 and 2020. It analyzes these survey data to determine the political coalition connection to consumption tax increases, rather than analyzing the political process of the consumption tax increase by ‘avoiding blame.’ Japan's national debt reached 258% of GDP in 2020, and the consumption tax rate increased from 8% to 10% in October 2019 under the Abe-led administration. Based on economic rationality, it was thought that the elderly and low-income groups in Japan would form a coalition against the latest consumption tax increase, while the youth and high-income earners would form a coalition in favor of it. However, empirical research shows that those aged in their 40s, 50s, and 60s were likelier to support the consumption tax increase than the youth. Unlike the discourse of “silver democracy,” this suggests that the middle-aged generation can play a role in alleviating intergenerational conflicts. Moreover, the younger generation (aged in their 20s), who could benefit greatly from the reconstruction of national finances, was negative about the consumption tax hike. In addition, supporters of the Liberal Democratic Party and New Komeito Party, as well as the upper and middle classes, tended to support the consumption tax increase. 본 연구는 일본에서 어떠한 특성을 지닌 유권자가 소비세 인상에 더 많이 찬성하는지를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 지난 2017년과 2020년과 실시된 일본 ‘동경대 다니구치 연구실-아사히신문’ 공동조사를 통해 소비세 증세에 대한 일본 유권자의 태도를 확인해보고자 하였다. 일본의 국가 부채는 매우 심각한 수준이며 지난 아베 정부 시기 두 차례 소비세가 인상되었는 등 소비세 인상에 대한 정치적 관심이 매우 높다. 경제적 합리성에 입각한 연구에서는 고령자와 저소득층이 소비세 증세에 반대하고 청장년층과 고소득자가 이에 찬성하는 연합을 구성하여 대립할 것으로 보았다. 그러나 실증적 연구에서 나이가 많아지면서 소비세 증세에 찬성하다가 장년층과 은퇴한 직후이거나 은퇴를 앞둔 4~60대가 청년층이나 70대 이상의 고령자에 비해 소비세 인상을 지지할 확률이 높았다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 ‘실버 민주주의’ 논의와 달리 청년층 대 고령자의 구도가 나타나기보다는 그 중간에 중장년층 세대가 이들의 갈등을 완화시키는 역할을 할 수 있음을 보여준다. 오히려 국가재정 재건에서 큰 이익을 볼 수 있는 청년 세대는 장년층과 전기 고령자에 비해 소비세 인상에 부정적이었다. 그 밖에 자민· 공명당 지지층과 중상위계층으로 인식하는 집단이 소비세 인상을 더 지지하였다.

Purpose: Curcumin is known to exert numerous biological effects including anti-inflammatory activity. In this study, we investigated the effects of curcumin on the production of interleukin-6 (IL-6) by murine macrophage-like RAW 264.7 cells stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from Prevotella intermedia, a major cause of inflammatory periodontal disease, and sought to determine the underlying mechanisms of action. Methods: LPS was prepared from lyophilized P. intermedia ATCC 25611 cells by the standard hot phenol-water method. Culture supernatants were collected and assayed for IL-6. We used real-time polymerase chain reaction to detect IL-6 mRNA expression. IκB-α degradation, nuclear translocation of NF-κB subunits, and STAT1 phosphorylation were characterized via immunoblotting. DNA-binding of NF-κB was also analyzed. Results: Curcumin strongly suppressed the production of IL-6 at both gene transcription and translation levels in P. intermedia LPS-activated RAW 264.7 cells. Curcumin did not inhibit the degradation of IκB-α induced by P. intermedia LPS. Curcumin blocked NF-κB signaling through the inhibition of nuclear translocation of NF-κB p50 subunit. Curcumin also attenuated DNA binding activity of p50 and p65 subunits and suppressed STAT1 phosphorylation. Conclusions: Although further study is required to explore the detailed mechanism of action, curcumin may contribute to blockade of the host-destructive processes mediated by IL-6 and appears to have potential therapeutic values in the treatment of inflammatory periodontal disease.
