Controlled Ca impurity implanted inner crack-like pore in the high purity alumina single crystal, sapphire, had been created by micro-fabrication technique, which includes ion implantation, photo-lithography, Ar ion milling, and hot press technique. The morphological change and the healing of cracklike pore in Ca doped high purity single crystal alumina, sapphire, during high temperature heat treatment in vacuum were observed using optical microscopy. The dot-like surface roughening was developed and hexagon like crystal appeared on inner surface of crack-like pore after heat treatment. Bar type crystals, probably CaO.6Al2O3, were observed on the inner surface after 1 hour heat treatment at 1, 50$0^{\circ}C$, but this bar type crystal disappeared after 1 hour heat treatment at 1, $600^{\circ}C$. This disappearance means that there should be a little increase of Ca solubility limit to alumina at this temperatures.

A1100, A5052, A6061, A6063, A7075 규격의 시판 알루미늄 합금 판재를 $Na_2SiO_3$와 $Na_2P_2O_7$ 전해질에서 pulse폭 $2000{\mu}sec$, + impulse 420 V, $400{\mu}sec$, -impulse $300{\mu}sec$의 bipolar pulse로 플라즈마 전해 산화 코팅(plasma electrolytic oxidation coating)한 산화피막의 결정상을 분석하였다. 표면에 형성된 산화물의 결정상은 ${\alpha}-alumina$, ${\gamma}-alumina$, ${\eta}-alumina$, $Al_{4.95}Si_{1.05}O_{9.52}$, 그리고 $(Al_{0.9}Cr_{0.1})_2O_3$가 관찰되었다. Bipolar pulse에 의해서 전해액의 성분인 Si가 산화피막에 포함되며, 포함된 Si는 결정상을 형성하기도 하지만 유리상을 형성시킨다. 이때 합금의 Mg 성분은 유리상의 양을 증가시킨다. Micro plasma에 의해서 용융된 표면은 유리상이 먼저 형성되고 이후 계속된 micro plasma의 열에 의하여 새로운 결정상으로 전이가 일어나는 과정을 거치며, 이에 따라 기존에 보고된 결정상이외에도 다양한 결정상이 형성될 수 있음을 추측할 수 있다. Crystallographic phases of Plasma electrolytic oxidized Al alloy, A1100, A5052, A6061, A6063, A7075, were investigated. Two types of electrolyte $Na_2Si_2O_3$ and Na2P2O7 were also compared. Bipolar pulse, $2000{\mu}sec$ with $400{\mu}sec+420V$ impulse and $300{\mu}sec$ - impulse were applied for 20 min. ${\alpha}-alumina$, ${\gamma}-alumina$, ${\eta}-alumina$, $Al_{4.95}Si_{1.05}O_{9.52}$, and $(Al_{0.9}Cr_{0.1})_2O_3$ were mainly observed. Si, component of electrolyte, were moved into the PEO layer by bipolar pulse. Glassy phase was also observed at the surface of $Na_2Si_2O_3$ electrolyte treated PEO layer, and increased with the Mg content of Al alloy. It is concluded that at first glassy phase was formed by the micro plasma, and the high temperature of plasma turns glassy phase to several crystalline phases. And we could expect that many other crystalline phase could be formed by PEO process.

Physical properties of plasma electrolytic oxidized layers of 8 different kinds of Al alloys, A-1100, A-2024, A-5052, A-6061, A-6063, A-7075, ACD-7B and ACD-12 were investigated. The electrolyte for plasma electrolytic oxidation was mixture of distilled water, $Na_2P_2O_7$, KOH and some metal salts. Growth rate of oxide layer was slower in $Na_2P_2O_7$ electrolyte system than in $Na_2SiO_3$ system, and Ra50 surface roughness of oxidized layer was below $1.2{\mu}m$. Surface hardness in $Na_2P_2O_7$ electrolyte system is higher than in $Na_2SiO_3$ system, and roughness was lower in $Na_2P_2O_7$ electrolyte system than in $Na_2SiO_3$ system.
Screen Printable MoSi2 도전성 Paste를 이용한 세라믹 면상 발열체 제조

Screen printable MoSi2 paste and its ceramic sheet heater were investigated. MoSi2 powder without Mo5Si3 second phase, which causes so-called pest phenomena, was synthesized by SHS technique. Over glaze was also developed for preventing pest phenomenon. The maximum temperature of MoSi2 ceramic heater was over 500oC. After several heat up and cooling cycle, the MoSi2 heater reveals pest phenomenon. Conductive MoSi2 paste could be used in electronic ceramics, i.e., MLCC, LTCC, HTCC, and etc.
진공건조에 의한 Y, Ba, Cu 질산염의 Oxalate 침전물에 대한 연구

Y, Ba and Cu nitrates were precipitated by oxalic acid at pH 4. The Y, Ba and Cu oxalate powders were vacuum dried and characterized by XRD, DT/TGA and etc. Yttrium nitrate precipitated as NH4Y(C2O4)2 . H2O and converted to Y2O3 above 450 o C. Ba precipitated with two phases, Ba(HC2O4)2 . 2H2O and Ba(C2O4). The amount of each precipitates was 4: 1. Cu precipitated nonhydrated form, Cu(C2O4). The vacuum drying was successful to characterize precipitated powder, which had been generally known as amorphous gel.

For studying the influence of addition of Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-montmorillonite complex on the hydration of Portland cement the PVA-montmorillonite derivatives were prepared in advance an characterized system-of Portland cement the PVA-montmorillonite derivatives were prepared in advance and characterized systema-tically. PVA with the polymerizationdegree ranging from 500 to 2000 have been intercalated into the lamellar structure of hydrated montmorillonites which were fractionated under 2㎛ by Stock's rule. In all cases the constant basal spacing of ∼20Å was determined whatever the molecular weight of PVA used. And the carbon chain orientation of PVA in the interfoliar space has been deduced to be parallel with bilayer structure.
자율적 실험과 관리를 통한 공대 교육의 창의성 향상 방안

본 연구에서는 자율적인 실험과 관리를 통하여 학생들의 창의성을 높이는 방안을 위하여 실험에 대한 내용과 순서 등의 정보를 제공하지 않고 스스로 자료 조사와 실험 방식을 정하도록 하는 수업을 진행하였다. 실험 목적은 피크노미터를 이용한 분체의 밀도측정 실험을 보다 정확하게 할 수 있도록 하는 것이었고, 그러기 위하여 실험에서 발생하는 문제점을 찾아내고 개선책을 제시하여 편차가 적은 실험값을 얻도록 하여 그 결과를 관찰하였다. 그 결과 조별로 자료조사와 토론을 통하여 실험을 진행하고 그 과정에서 발생하는 문제점을 스스로 찾도록 하는 과정이 학생들의 집중도, 창의성을 향상 시킬 수 있었고, 매 학기 중간과 기말에 설문 조사를 통하여 조사한 결과, 많은 학생들로부터 긍정적인 평가를 받을 수있었다.

Physical properties of Plasma electrolytic oxidized 8 different kinds of Al alloys, A-1100, A-2024, A-5052, A-6061, A-6063, A-7075, ACD-7B and ACD-12 were investigated. The electrolyte for PEO was Na2SiO3 and NaOH and some alkali earthen metal salts system solution. η-alumina, as well as γ-alumina, was main crystal phase, which were ever reported. Also, Al4.95Si1.05O9.52 was found only in this research. So we can conclude that the process conditions of PEO apparatus and composition and concentration of its electrolyte affects crystal structure and physical properties of PEO layers much more than the compositions of Al alloy.

전해질로 $Na_2SiO_3$을 사용하여 A1050 알루미늄 판재를 pulse 폭 $ 2000{\mu}sec$, impulse 420 V, 400 ${\mu}$sec의 unipolar pulse로 플라즈마 전해 산화 코팅(plasma electrolytic oxidation coating)을 하여 산화 피막을 2, 5, 15, 30분에 따라 형성시킨 다음 산화피막을 분석하였다. 표면에 형성된 산화물의 결정상은 ${\alpha}-alumina$와 ${\gamma}-Alumina$로서 시간에 따른 변화는 없었다. 반응 초반에는 ${\gamma}-Alumina$가 많이 생성되었지만 시간이 갈수록 ${\gamma}-Alumina$의 양에는 변화 없이 ${\alpha}-alumina$가 많이 생겨남을 알 수 있었다. 이런 결과는 micro plasma에 의해서 ${\gamma}-Alumina$가 우선 생성되고, 이후 계속되는 micro plasma의 열에 의해서 ${\alpha}-alumina$로의 전이가 일어나기 때문으로 판단된다. Unipolar pulse, $ 2000{\mu}sec$ with $400{\mu}sec+420V$ impulse, were applied for 2 min, 5 min, 15 min, and 30 min. ${\gamma}-Alumina$, as well as ${\alpha}-alumina$, was main crystal phase. ${\gamma}-Alumina$ was appeared in the beginning, then the amount of ${\alpha}-alumina$ was increased with time, but the amount of ${\gamma}-Alumina$ remained constant without any increasing. So, it is concluded that plasma gas produce ${\gamma}-Alumina$ at the first, and then ${\gamma}-Alumina$ transform ${\alpha}-alumina$ finally. During the transformation, high temperature of micro plasma gives transformation energy.

The crystal structure of surface coatings on Al1050 alloy by PEO (Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation), were investigated. The electrolyte for PEO was Na-Si-P system solution. The main crystalline phase were $\gamma$-alumina and $\alpha$-alumina. Crystallinity was increased with applied voltage and applied time. The dominant crystalline phase were affected not only chemical composition of Al alloy substrate and electrolyte, but also the +/- ratio of applied voltage.
