CR/SBS개질 아스팔트 실란트의 저온접착특성에서 파라핀 오일 첨가에 의한 효과

본 연구의 목적은 styrene-butadiene-styrene(SBS) 블록공중합체와 폐타이어 고무분말(crumb rubber, CR)로 개질한 아스팔트의 저온접착특성에 대해 파라핀오일 가소제의 영향에 대한 것이다. SBS/CR로 개질한 아스팔트 블렌드와 파라핀오일/SBS/CR 아스팔트 블렌드의 온도 민감성을 침입도와 연화점으로 측정하였다. 형광현미경으로 파라핀오일/SBS/CR 아스팔트 블렌드에 대한 개질제들의 분산 상태와 만능시험기로 저온에서 접착성질을 각각 측정하였다. 저온접착시험에서 SBS 함량의 증가와 파라핀오일 함량 5 wt % 및 10 wt %에서 접착강도와 변형률이 증가하였다. -20℃ 에서 측정한 접착강도와 강인성은 파라핀오일이 10 wt %와 SBS 공중합체의 양이 6 wt %인 조성에서 최대값을 얻었다. SBS/CR/아스팔트 블렌드에서 파라핀오일의 첨가는 유연성을 부여하는 효과를 나타내고, 저온에서 강인성의 증가를 가져오는 것을 확인하였다.

PURPOSES :This study aims to develop a sealant for use in the installation of Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) sensor for asphalt concrete or cement concrete pavements.METHODS:In order to investigate the properties of various sealants that were mixed with latex and carbon fiber, various test methods were adopted, such as bituminous bond strength test, softening point test, and cone penetration test. To evaluate moisture susceptibility, the BBS test was conducted under moist condition. The bond strength ratio (BSR) was calculated based on tensile strength ratio method.RESULTS :The sealant’s properties significantly varied according to the amount of latex or carbon fiber. The usage of latex marginally enhanced the cone penetration test result, notwithstanding reduced asphalt content. This implies that the sealant will be proper cold temperature reason. Moreover, the addition of latex and carbon fiber evidently increased the softening point. This indicates that the tendency of the material to flow at elevated temperatures is encountered during service. With the addition of latex and carbon fiber, the moisture susceptibility measured with BSR improved marginally, while the bond strength under dry condition decreased marginally. Sealant F displays the highest bond strength and BSR under limited test conditions.CONCLUSIONS :According to the proportion of latex and carbon fiber mixed, properties of sealant, such as softening point, cone penetration, and BSR varied marginally. This indicates that the sealant has to be applied considering the environmental condition, to improve service life.

PURPOSES: In order to evaluate a crack resistance at cold joint, sealing tape was adopted to apply at cold joint instead of typical tack coat material(RSC-4). The sealing tape was made by hot sealing material. The crack resistance as function of environmental and traffic loading was measured with visual observation. METHODS : In this study, the crack resistance was evaluated as function of environmental and traffic loading. The freeze-thaw method was adopted for environmental loading of asphalt pavement. condition. The damage of cold joint under freeze-thaw action is initiated by ice expansion load and accelerated by the interfacial damage between new and old asphalt pavement. The traffic loading was applied with wheel tracking machine on the cold joint area of the asphalt pavement for 3 hours at 25℃. The evaluation of crack resistance was measured with visual observation. The freeze-thaw results shows that the sealing tape was significantly increased the crack resistance based on. RESULTS : To estimate the crack resistance at cold joint area due to the environmental loading, the Freeze-thaw test was conducted by exposing the product to freezing temperature(approximately -18℃) for 24 hours, and then allowing it to thaw at 60℃ for 24 hours. The tack coat material(RSC-4) was debonded after 21 cycles of the Freeze-thaw test. The first crack was observed after 14 freeze-thaw cycle with RSC-4 material. But, the sealing tape was not debonded after 24 cycle test. Also, the sealing tape shows the better performance of the crack resistance under the traffic loading with wheel track test. The crack was generated the under traffic loading with RSC-4(tack coating), however, the crack was not shown with sealing tape. It indicates that the sealing tape has a strong resistance of tensile stress due to traffic loading. CONCLUSIONS: Based on limited laboratory test result, a performance of crack resistance using the sealing tape is better than that of general tack coat material(RSC-4). It means that the sealing tape is possible to extend a pavement service life because the crack, one of the main pavement distresses, will be delayed. Carbon Chopped Fiber 혼입량에 따른 아스팔트 혼합물의 물리적 특성

In this study, we investigated the physical, viscoelastic, and thermal characteristics of asphalt mixtures with carbon chopped fiber contents of 0-2 wt%. To investigate the effect of the carbon chopped fiber content, tensile strength, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), and thermal conductivity tests were conducted. It was observed from the tests that the mechanical and thermal properties of the specimens improved with increasing carbon chopped fiber content. However, when the excess carbon chopped fibers were mixed, the properties decreased owing to a decrease in dispersibility.
