        From the beginning of human history, earth has been playing essential roles both as a useful material and an original base for living. The early development of earthen vessel based on the mark containing water on the ground was the start of ceramic art and made a remarkable contribution to the production of building materials. The fertile soil was the field of continuing history of human being. The revolution in the power supply, which also resulted in the industrial revolution, was enough to change the life style through the democratization of industrial art. The mass production of brick, cement, plate glass and steel chassis required a new format of architecture. The improved technologies and demand of the general public created a novel culture of architecture, by which the amount of earth use was gradualy decresed a novel culture of architecture, by which the amont of earth use was gradualy decreased. Along with the cultural exchange between east and west, the advanced systems of transportation and communication destroyed the traditional style of each country and resulted in tremendous changes in terms of globalization. While the strategic development of economy activated the architecture with the mass production of cheap raw material and introduction of substitute material, it affected an adverse effect of regimentation on the architectural culture. Ever since the modern architecture was concentrated on the fuctionalization, the aesthetic criteria has been changed and the tendency for the simplication has been accelerated. Accordingly, due to the flood tide of exclusive consciousness against the aesthetic ornaments, decorative sculptures were gradually faded away. Instead, away from the category of construction parts, the decorative sculptures started to grope for the independent identity as an art. With the appearence of artistic doctrine, the decorative status was spontaneously abandoned, which lead to the relaxation in the space of architecture. The present age, however, is forming a new environment in which the geometrical modernism and functionalization and the advanced mechanization are proliferated. The poverty of artistic culture in the bountiful surrounding of architecture is dreaming of offering human space by the re-discovery of humanization. Even though the sound consensus in these days is not like the re-maturation of decadent tendency of art nouveau of art deco, it is driving a recurent state of humanism. On the edge of 21st century, due to the depression by each genre, we might be so stingy with the mutual compatibility of the genre for harmonious life. This era is asking for the reproduction of the cultural circumstances against the destruction of nature and the desolate function of the urban area. The creation of comfortable visual environment, solutions for various problems in improving the quality of life and recovery of order are required. It is a period of what should be architecture and artistic works can be combined in a novel fashion. Environmental ceramic art provide a wide route to reach the area of ceramic ware in the architecture through the installation. We can readily find the environment to be readily modified, which means that we can start our experiment on the environmental ceramic art as soon as we have the intention for the application of artistic work. In the spontaneously shaped space of practice, the sound breathing from the fresh experience of art should be sensed. Now it is undesirablefor us to be dissatisfied with the already formned epace. Instead, we are encouraged to mutually acknowledge the space of practice while enduring the insufficient understanding of our neighbors. Thus, it is recommended that the field of consensus be achived to create the harmonious environment through the mutual response with publics and that with architectures. Furthermore, in order to overcome the limit of the raw material of ceramic art as earth, continous effort has to be made on the study of ceramic materials and capability of autogeny should be accumulated by the communications with other materials. Space of city always expands. It may be the instinct of mankind to construct the beautiful environment and to allow the value of life to the plentiful space. Based on the solid ground throughout the specialization of genre by fractionation, the creation of space with the synchronized genre will no doubt build a fundamental axis for improving th quality of human being.

        하수관 손상으로 인한 지하공동 및 지반함몰 발생에 대한 하수관 매립심도 영향의 실험적 평가

        In order to analyze the effect of burial depth on the generation of ground cavities and cave-ins, a series of model experiments with different height of model ground were performed. Digital images of the model ground were captured to evaluate the internal deformation of the model grounds by adopting the PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) technique. Additionally, the vertical displacement at the surface, the size of the cavity, and the weight of the discharged soil were measured in each test. The results indicate that the model ground with low burial depth, which does not satisfy the criterion, was more vulnerable to ground cavities and cave-ins than the model ground with high burial depth.

        집회시위로 인한 손상유형 분석을 통한 응급의료기관의 재난대책

        P u r p o s e: This study is to enable emergency centers to adequately cope with a vast number of demonstration-related injured patients by using an interventional study. With this analysis, emergency centers can hopefully prepare with adequate manpower, equipment and resources. M e t h o d s: We reviewed the medical records of 117 patients with injuries related assembly and demonstration who visited the Emergency Medical Center of St. Mary’s Hospital from Aug 13, 1999, to Jan 31, 2004 (pre-intervention state). These patients were analyzed according to sex, age, the severity of injury, the presence of a laceration, the injury mechanism, the final diagnosis, and the areas of the injury. Using these data, we established a disaster plan, then, we applied that plan to 59 patients who visited the Emergency Medical Center during Feb 2004 (post-interventional preliminary study). R e s u l t s: The common areas of the injury were the face (35.1%), the head (33.1%), and the extremities (25.4%) during the pre-intervention state. The number of patients with lacerations was 61 (52.1%). According to this, we established our own external hospital disaster plan. During the preliminary post-interventional study, the plan reduced the length of hospital stay, the delayed time to radiology, and the not-sutured rate (p< 0 . 0 5 ) . C o n c l u s i o n: When patients injured during violent demonstrations are expected, local emergency care hospitals need to prepare manpower, resources, and supplies for facial and head lacerations and apply their disaster plan.

        기존 계측 기반 침하 예측 이론식 한계점 도출 및 가중 비선형 회귀분석을 통한 침하 예측 개선방안 제시

        The existing subsidence prediction method based on the measurement data were confirmed in this study through literature research. It was confirmed that the hyperbolic method and the Asaoka method showed high accuracy, while the other prediction methods showed significantly low accuracy. Based on the analysis results, the limitations of the existing prediction equations were derived, and the improvement method of the settlement prediction equations was suggested. In this study, a weighted nonlinear regression analysis method that gives higher weight to the later data was proposed to improve the existing hyperbolic method.
