Several reports suggested that DDS could induce psychosis, whereas it seems that there are no clear descriptions about dosage, clinical course, symptomatology and prognosis. The author reported three cases of toxic psychosis in non-leprous persons following massive adminstration of DDS giving emphasis to clinical characteristics. The first case, a 30 year old male, presented definite psychotic symptoms with paranoid picture after daily administration of 300㎎ of DDS for 40 days. The second case, a 13 year old male, had mental symptoms similar to those of the first case 2 days after the administration of 1,200㎎ of DDS in 3 days. In both cases, such symptoms as slowly increasing irritability, anorexia and insomnia were presented prior to the development of definite psychosis. The last case, a 21 year old female, took more than 1,000㎎ of DDS at once. Several hours after ingestion, acute intoxication symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, cyanosis and loss of conscious-ness appeared. Ten days later, she improved in her mental state except fatigability and visual disturbance. But after 30 days of lucid period, psychotic symptoms with hysterical picture were manifested. In all case, there was no neurological abnormality except typical organic brain syndrome such as disorientation, distractability, disturbance of calculation and recent memory, and exacerbating tendency at night. Antipsychotics were used for the treatment of psychotic symptoms, which were gradually alleviated after at least 2 months of treatment. The following facts could be extracted from the clinical experiences with these patients. 1) Psychotic symptoms were presented by both single and repeated administration of DDS. 2) Acute brain syndrome was observed in all cases, whereas it's mental symptom clearly reflected premorbid personalily of the patients. 3) There was a lucid period before the onset of psychotic symptom in the case of acute intoxication by single dose. In this case, visual disturbance with retinal hemorrage and macular degeneration was noticed. 4) Methemoglobinemia was not found in all cases, suggesting that psychotic manifestation might not be related to cellular hypoxia due to the methemoglobinemia but to the serum concentration and toxicity of the sulfone per se. 5) Recovery seemed to be the rule but required prolonged treatment.

The purpose of this paper is to describe classification system of the basic typeface of alphabet type adapted for our actual circumstance. The export promotion and economic development of Korea have been expanded to make use alphabet from the various brandnames of goods exported in the world market to the media for an overseas information activity. There are demended an expert knowledge about alphabet typeface to our designers. Therefore, Our designers must have method of their own for recognizing and classifing alphabet type. It is thereby possible to bring some order into what must seem an extremely disorderly and disorganized branch of letter design. In such viewpoint, This paper is described process of transition of alphabet type and compared with various classifition methods of the basic typeface of alphabet type which is each country. According to the result of analysis above, It can be possible to present resonable classification system of the basic typeface considered process of transition of alphabet type and adapted for our actual circumstance; Gothic, Venetian, Old Face, Transitional, Modern Face, Egyptian, Sans Serif, Script, and Miscellaneous. It is a great pleasure to make use this paper for alphabet typeface design of our designers.

Ginseng total saponins(GS), protopanaxadiol saponins(PD) and protopanaxatriol saponins (PT) antagonized the analgesia in mice induced by morphine. The administrations of 2, 4-dihydroxyphenylalanine, and 5-hydroxytryptophan reduced the GS, PD and PT antagonisms of morphine analgesia. Possible mechanisms involved in the antagonistic actions of GS, PD and PT on morphine analgesia were described.

Liriodendrin, m.p. 269~270˚, C_(34) H_(46) O_(18) as one of the antihypertensive components was obtained from the cortex of Kalopanax pictum. Acid hydrolysis of liriodendrin yielded lirioresinol-A, -B and glucose. The stereochemistry of liriodendrin was established by the NMR specturm of liriodendrin octaacetate. The NMR spectrum of liriodendrin octaacetate showed that di-β-glucoside of lirioresinol-B type occurs in nature.
