Recently, there were many researches for efficiency improvement of DSC. Among of these works, research of surface treatment is still a prerequisite for electron diffusion, light-harvesting and surface state of DSC⁴. Using of the surface treatment, it can be raise up porosity of TiO₂ nano-crystalline structure on photo-electrode<sup>5</sup>. There are chemical, physical, electrical and optical methods which raise up its porosity. In this paper, we have designed and manufactured MOPA-type ultrasonic circuit (100W, frequency and duty variable). Manufactured ultrasonic circuit to use to force cavity density and power into TiO₂ paste. Then, we have optimized forcing time, frequency and duty of ultrasonic irradiation for surface treatment of photo-electrode of DSC. In I-V characteristic test of DSC, ultrasonic and thermal treated DSC shows 19% improved its efficiency against established DSC.
단위 DSC셀의 직병렬 연결을 통한 소형 배터리 충전특성에 관한 연구

To elucidate possible challenges for outdoor practical use of dye-sensitized solar cells(DSC), compared with conventional Si solar cells. DSC modules still need the larger area than conventional Si solar modules to attain the same rated output because of lower photoelectron-chemical conversion efficiency. However, using batteries backup systems, the measured data shows that DSCs gathered over 12% more electricity than Si solar cells of the same rated output power in same outdoor condition. Moreover, battery charging time of DSC is about 1 hour faster than same rate of Si solar module. In this paper, 12 single DSC cells prepared for 4 serialized DSC cells was connected in 3 row parallel which have same output power rate of Si solar module. This DSC module was practiced generating characteristic experiment over outdoor daylight condition and applied with PV battery charger by using DC-DC converter. The main advantages of DSC module battery charger as compared with conventional Si solar module one are shorter charge time and lower cost.

In this paper, we invented a new and unique technique for the sterilization of Escherichia coli(E. coli) in polluted water. We applied a rich ultra-violet(UV) light from pulsed xenon flashlamp and photocatalyst(TiO₂) to sterilize E. coli in polluted water. This method based on the use of UV light and photocatalyst is eco-friendly and does not cause secondary pollution. The proposed elliptical reactor is able to concentrate on quartz sleeve coated TiO₂ or general quartz sleeve. The primary objective of our research was to determine the important parameters such as pulse repetition rate and input voltage and to know on the sterilizing efficiency of quartz sleeve coated TiO₂ and general quartz sleeve. We obtained to achieve 99.999% sterilization in as little as 6 pulses at 800 V in case of quartz sleeve coated TiO₂, and 10 pulses at 800 V in case of general quartz sleeve for 5 minutes. Although transmitted light of quartz sleeve coated TiO₂ is deceased, the sterilizing efficiency is increased by 40% than general quartz sleeve. The reason of high sterilizing efficiency is that generated hydroxyl radical(OH) by photocatalyst and is able to concentrate light at a focus by using elliptical reactor.
