We experienced a patient with an orgasmic aura originating from the right mesial temporal structure. A 36-year-old right-handed woman suffered from a specific sensation of sexual arousal and orgasm-like euphoria lasting 1~2 minutes for several years. Video EEG monitoring ascertained those sensations as epileptic in nature arising from the right mesial temporal area through a foramen ovale electrode. The findings of 99mTc-ECD-SPECT and 18F-FDG PET were concordant with those of the brain MRI which was pathologically consistent with hippocampal sclerosis.

지르코니아 기성관에 컴포머와 레진 시멘트로 접착한 교정 밴드의 결합력

The aim of this study was to evaluate the compomer cement and resin cement as an orthodontic band cement on zirconia crown. A total of 30 specimens were prepared. Preformed stainless steel crowns and zirconia crowns of upper right second primary molar were used. Orthodontic bands were cemented on stainless steel crowns (Group Ⅰ, n = 10) and zirconia crowns (Group Ⅱ, n = 10) with compomer cement. The other bands were cemented on zirconia crowns with resin cement (Group Ⅲ, n = 10). The tensile loads were applied to band to measure the bond strength. The mean of bond strengths of group Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ were 0.79 MPa, 1.09 MPa and 1.56 MPa respectively. Bond strength of group Ⅱ is significantly higher than group Ⅰ. There was no significant difference between group Ⅱ and Ⅲ. Compomer cement and resin cement containing functional monomers showed favorable bond strength of orthodontic bands. 이 연구의 목적은 지르코니아 기성관에 대한 교정용 밴드의 접착제로서 컴포머 시멘트와 레진 시멘트를 평가하고자 하였다. 총 30개의 시편을 준비하였다. 상악 우측 제 2유구치의 스테인리스 스틸 기성관에 컴포머 시멘트로 교정용 밴드를 접착한 Ⅰ군과지르코니아 기성관에 컴포머 시멘트로 밴드를 접착한 Ⅱ군, 지르코니아 기성관에 레진 시멘트로 밴드를 접착한 Ⅲ군으로 나누었고 밴드의 결합력을 측정하기 위해 인장력을 가하였다. Ⅰ군, Ⅱ군과 Ⅲ군의 결합력의 평균값은 각각 0.79 MPa, 1.09 MPa 그리고 1.56 MPa였다. Ⅱ군이 Ⅰ군보다 유의하게 높은 결합력을보였고, Ⅱ군과 Ⅲ군 의 결합력에는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 컴포머 시멘트와 기능성 단량체를 포함한 레진 시멘트는 유구치 지르코니아 기성관에 대한 교정용 밴드의 시멘트로서 양호한 결합력을 보였다.

투명 에폭시와 광섬유를 이용한 방사선량 측정용 유기섬광체 센서 개발

Remote detecting system for a radiation contamination using a plastic scintillator and an optical fiber was developed. Using a commercially available silica optical fiber and a plastic scintillator, we tested then for a real possibility as a remote monitoring detector. Also, a plastic scintillator was developed by itself, and evaluated as a radiation sensor. The plastic scintillator was made of epoxy resin, a hardener and an organic scintillation material. The mixture rate of the epoxy resin, hardener and organic scintillator was fixed by using their emission spectrum, transmittance, intensity etc. In this study, in order to decrease the light loss of an incomplete connection between an optical fiber and a scintillator, the optical fiber was inserted into the scintillator during the fabrication process. The senor used a plastic optical fiber and was estimated for its detection efficiency by an optic fiber's geometric factor. 방사선량 측정을 위하여 섬광체와 광섬유를 이용한 원격 측정용 센서를 개발하였다. 유리 광섬유와 상용화된 플라스틱섬광체로 원거리 측정 가능성을 시험하였고, 에폭시 수지로 자체 개발한 섬광검출소재로 방사선 측정센서로써의 성능을 평가하였다. 에폭시 수지와 유기섬광물질의 배합별 물질 특성을 측정하여 최적의 조건을 도출하였다. 광섬유와 섬광체를 연결할 때, 불완전한 접속으로 인한 광 손실을 줄이기 위하여 섬광검출소재 제조 과정 중 소재내로 광섬유를 삽입하여 일체형으로 센서를 제조하였다. 일체형 센서는 유리광섬유의 단점을 보완하여 플라스틱 광섬유를 적용하였으며, 방사선 반응 체적별 검출효율을 평가하기 위하여 검출소재 밑단으로부터 일정 거리의 광섬유를 배치하여 측정하였다. 개발한 방사선 검출용 센서는 오염도 원거리 측정뿐만 아니라 측정센서로써의 적용도 가능할 것으로 예상된다.

실험적으로 유도한 Gentamicin 전정독성 기니픽 모델에서 Memantine의 효과

Background and ObjectivesZZIn general, aminoglycosides are known to cause ototoxicity through the glutamate induced nitric oxide production. The N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) related glutamate receptors have a pivotal role in aminoglycoside induced ototoxicity. Memantine is known as a safe NMDA antagonist and is also used in some neurologic insults, such as the Alzheimer disease. In this study, we observed the effect of memantine on gentamicin induced vestibulotoxicity in an animal model. Materials and MethodZZVestibulotoxicity was induced with intratympanic administration of gentamicin and memantine was injected intraperitoneally to a study group. Histomorphological studies for vestibule were performed via light and electron microscopy. Immunohistochemical studies were performed for iNOS, nitrotyrosine and apoptosis via TUNEL staining. ResultsZZThe numbers of hair cells were decreased significantly in the gentamicin group than in the gentamicin-memantine group. Increased immunoreactivities for iNOS and nitrotyrosine were observed in the gentamicin group than in the memantine-pretreated gentamicin group. TUNEL positive cells were more frequently observed in the gentamicin group than in the memantinepretreated gentamicin group. The mechanism of chorea underlying nonketotic hyperglycemia was controversial. Serial follow up of brain MRI, 99mTc-ECD SPECT, and 18F-FDG PET in conjunction with clinical observation was done to clarify the pathologic localization. From the functional neuroimages, according to the clinical improvement, the relevant pathology was localized on the lentiform nucleus, mainly on the putamen. In caudate, the mismatch between glucose metabolism and blood flow was observed during and after choreoballistic movement which suggested an important cue to understand the pathogenesis of chorea.

박찬희 대한민국역사박물관 2021 현대사와 박물관 Vol.4 No.-
2021년 3월 29일 대한민국역사박물관 체험관이 문을 열었다. 체험관은 대한민국역사박물관 전면 개편 작업의 일환으로, 현대사를 즐겁게 체험할 수 있도록 만들었다. 체험관의 핵심 주제는 세대 간의 소통이며 특정 세대가 아니라 다양한 세대가 체험할 수 있도록 구성하였다. 체험관의 코너는 모두 17개로 주로 생활사에 바탕을 두었다. 사람들은 이곳에서 관람객이 아니라 체험자가 된다. 체험 방법은 코너마다 달라 체험자는 역동적으로 체험할 수 있다. 역사를 체험하는 체험관과 역사를 전시한 역사관은 상호보완적인 역할을 한다. 여러 세대가 참여할 수 있는 박물관의 체험관은 매우 드물기 때문에 이곳은 체험자들이 어떻게 체험하고 어떤 경험을 하는지 살펴볼 수 있는 중요한 실험장이자 출발점이 될 것이다.
