The Multidimensional Masculinity in Nguyễn Huy Thiệp’s Short Stories
( Van Thuan Nguyen ),( Anh Dan Nguyen ),( Van Luan Nguyen ) 부산외국어대학교 아세안연구원 2024 Suvannabhumi Vol.16 No.1
Nguyễn Huy Thiệp is a pillar in Vietnamese cultural life after the Second Indochina War, and the fates of men and women at the beginning of Đổi mới (Renovation) is one of the prominent themes in his short stories. To show off sexual power, seek glory, and maintain his dominant position, Thiệp’s heroes engage in a game of oppressing the weak, hunting animals, and harassing women. However, due to the complex changes in social life, moral values, and gender inequality, men in the postwar period quickly experienced the feeling of humiliation, impotence, and failure. In turn, the sophisticated aspects of masculinity demonstrate the cultural and ethical concerns of contemporary Vietnamese society. By exploring the multidimensional nature of masculinity expressed in Thiệp’s stories, this study aims to resolve misconceptions about gender and the relationship between men and women in his work.
Critical Factors Affecting the Adoption of Artificial Intelligence: An Empirical Study in Vietnam
Thanh Luan NGUYEN,Van Phuoc NGUYEN,Thi Viet Duc DANG 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.5
The term “artificial intelligence” is considered a component of sophisticated technological developments, and several intelligent tools have been developed to assist organizations and entrepreneurs in making business decisions. Artificial intelligence (AI) is defined as the concept of transforming inanimate objects into intelligent beings that can reason in the same way that humans do. Computer systems can imitate a variety of human intelligence activities, including learning, reasoning, problem-solving, speech recognition, and planning. This study’s objective is to provide responses to the questions: Which factors should be taken into account while deciding whether or not to use AI applications? What role do these elements have in AI application adoption? However, this study proposes a framework to explore the significance and relation of success factors to AI adoption based on the technology-organization-environment model. Ten critical factors related to AI adoption are identified. The framework is empirically tested with data collected by mail surveying organizations in Vietnam. Structural Equation Modeling is applied to analyze the data. The results indicate that Technical compatibility, Relative advantage, Technical complexity, Technical capability, Managerial capability, Organizational readiness, Government involvement, Market uncertainty, and Vendor partnership are significantly related to AI applications adoption.

This research was conducted to check the impact of factors related to the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) on the economic growth in the Southeast region of Vietnam, over the years from 1996–2019. This paper applies a combination of FEM, DKSE, GMM, and RIDGE-FEM regression methods to estimate the influence of independent variables on the economic growth of the whole Southeast region with the panel data collected from GSO; and applying the OLS regression model for each province. The study finds that all variables have a statistically significant positive impact on the economic growth of the study area. Accordingly, the importance of the variables is in the following order: (1) the proportion of workers by professional and technical qualification (SMEH), (2) the number of vocational training schools (LnTSCH), and educational level of workers (LnSchool), (3) the number of SME enterprises (LnSME); (4) The average number of years in the schooling of employees in the enterprise (LnSchool); (5) Enterprise capital (LnCAP); and (6) the average number of employees of SME (LnSMER). The research results also show that factors related to the quality of labor resources have a more positive influence on growth than both the labor size and financial capital of SMEs.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the Vietnamese economy. In the midst of a complex disease that compelled people to limit their interaction, customers’ shopping habits shifted from “offline” to “online” transactions. Mobile payments have also grown in popularity. The goal of this study is to figure out what factors influence the use of mobile payments by hotel clients in Can Tho after COVID-19. The research team also examines how those factors influence customers’ willingness to use mobile payment and makes recommendations to better the current situation. Primary data was collected from 227 persons using online surveys and processed with SPSS software for this study. To analyze the correlation relationship between the elements determining the intention to use, the Cronbach alpha, EFA, Correlation, and Regression methods used to assess the scale are applied. Perceived Trustworthiness, Perceived Usefulness, and Perceived Ease of Use all have positive effects on customers’ propensity to use, according to the findings. Perceived Security, on the other hand, has no bearing. The findings of this study have significant theoretical and practical implications for the development of mobile payment services in Can Tho, particularly following the implementation of COVID-19.
A High-Definition LIDAR System Based on Two-Mirror Deflection Scanners
Nguyen, Xuan Truong,Dinh, Van Luan,Lee, Hyuk-Jae,Kim, Hyun IEEE 2018 IEEE SENSORS JOURNAL Vol.18 No.2
<P>This paper addresses the problem of adopting a state-of-art laser marking system with a two-mirror deflection scanner to make a high-definition light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system. To this end, a galvanometer scanner is modeled with parameterization and then the well-known raster scanning strategy is analyzed considering the physical scanning movement and the minimum spanning tree. As a result of this analysis, the relationship between the field of view (FOV) of the captured image and the scanning speed is clearly described. Furthermore, sufficient conditions are derived for an acquired image to fully cover the FOV and also for captured objects to be well aligned for a target frame rate. Finally, a prototype LIDAR system is developed to verify the proposed concepts and to prove that it successfully generates images at various resolutions depending on the target frame rates. Experimental results show that the scanner achieves the frame rates of 17.6, 9.0, and 4.6 frames per second fps for image sizes of <TEX>$240\times 16$</TEX>, <TEX>$240\times 32$</TEX>, and <TEX>$240\times 64$</TEX> resolutions, respectively.</P>
