Purpose: The local police system is vital for meeting community needs and maintaining order. Despite its introduction under Moon's administration, it faces criticism and conflict, especially in Jeju. This study aims to assess perceptions among Jeju residents, police, and experts, focusing on the system's effectiveness and areas for improvement, emphasizing the need for thorough evaluation and stakeholder input before full implementation. Method: This study analyzes differences in linkage tasks, collective efficiency, and security satisfaction based on age in the Jeju local police system. Using a survey of 500 Jeju residents conducted via Macroembrain, the study employs SPSS and Amos for factor analysis, reliability testing, and regression analysis. The research aims to evaluate residents' perceptions and the impact of the local police system, examining factors such as demographic variables and system awareness. Results: Hierarchical regression analysis of the Jeju local police system reveals that demographic variables(gender, age, residence, education) have minimal impact on governance linkage, collective efficiency, and security satisfaction. In contrast, awareness of the local police system significantly influences governance linkage(β=.189), collective efficiency (β=.375), and security satisfaction (β=.220), highlighting its greater importance over demographic factors. Conclusion: Research on the implementation of local police systems has been mainly theoretical. This study, using factor and regression analyses, finds that awareness of the local police system positively impacts governance, efficiency, and security satisfaction. Effective practices and improvements, including increased public awareness and training, are suggested to enhance the system’s impact.

We quantified temporal and spatial changes in the habitat for fish populations, the distribution of mandarin fish(Siniperca scherzeri) and an introduced species, largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides) in Lake Paro and inflowing streams. The number of fish species identified in Lake Paro and the tributary streams included 10 families, 24 species and 10 families 30 species, respectively. The dominant fish species in Lake Paro were Zacco platypus, Hemibarbus labeo, Squalidus gracilis majimae, S. scherzeri and Tridentiger brevispinis, Z. platypus, Z. koreanus, and S. gracilis majimae in the inflowing streams. Although the habitat segregation for S. scherzeri and M. salmoides occurs, these two species showed the use of the fishes of the family Gobiidae as an important prey item based on IRI analysis. S. scherzeri and M. salmoides preyed mainly on T. brevispinis(67.4 %) and R. brunneus(84.0 %), respectively. The species preyed on by S. scherzeri and M. salmoides were benthic fishes that inhabit shallow water depths around the lake and have little swimming ability.

Vertically Oriented Nanostructures of Poly(3-dodecylthiophene)-Containing Rod-Coil Block Copolymers

<P>We synthesized star-shaped 18-arm polystyrene-<I>block</I>-poly(3-dodecylthiophene) copolymers ((PS-<I>b</I>-P3DDT)<SUB>18</SUB>) having lamellar microdomains, based on the cyclodextrin (CD) core. Without any surface modifications on a silicon substrate, thin films of (PS-<I>b</I>-P3DDT)<SUB>18</SUB> showed vertically oriented lamellar microdomains by thermal annealing. This is attributed to the entropic penalty induced by star-shaped chain architecture. In contrast, a parallel orientation was observed in the film morphology of the corresponding linear PS-<I>b</I>-P3DDT. We also found that the P3DDT crystals were confined in the lamellar microdomains of (PS-<I>b</I>-P3DDT)<SUB>18</SUB> as edge-on structure.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

<P>To apply well-defined block copolymer nanopatterns to next generation lithography or high-density storage devices, small line edge roughness (LER) of nanopatterns should be realized. Although polystyrene-block-poly(methyl methacrylate) copolymer (PS-b-PMMA) has been widely used to fabricate nanopatterns because of easy perpendicular orientation of the block copolymer nanodomains and effective removal of PMMA block by dry etching, the fabricated nanopatterns show poorer line edge roughness (LER) due to relatively small Flory-Huggins interaction parameter (chi) between PS and PMMA chains. Here, we synthesized PS-b-PMMA with urea (U) and N-(4-aminomethyl-benzyl)-4-hydroxymethyl-benzamide (BA) moieties at junction of PS and PMMA chains (PS-U-BA-PMMA) to improve the LER. The U-BA moieties serves as favorable interaction (hydrogen bonding) sites. The LER of PS line patterns obtained from PS-U-BA-PMMA was reduced similar to 25% compared with that obtained from neat PS-b-PMMA without BA and U moieties. This is attributed to narrower interfacial width induced by hydrogen bonding between two blocks, which is confirmed by small-angle X-ray scattering. This result implies that the introduction of hydrogen bonding into block copolymer interfaces offers an opportunity to fabricate well-defined nanopatterns with improved LER by block copolymer self-assembly, which could be a promising alternative to next-generation extreme ultraviolet lithography.</P>

Two-dimensional (2-D) time-space diagram have been widely used to analyze the flow of the traffic. However, it has limitations to make a plan that guarantees the collision avoidance of vehicles at the intersections. In this paper, we introduce the three-dimensional (3-D) time-space diagram and demonstrate its effectiveness in describing the movements of vehicles at the intersections. We also propose an algorithm based on the grid allocation of 3-D time-space diagram to avoid collision between vehicles to achieve the autonomous intersection.
