A case of Mowat-Wilson syndrome with developmental delays and Hirschsprung's disease

        Lee, Darae,Kim, Ja Hye,Cho, Ja Hyang,Oh, Moon-Yun,Lee, Beom Hee,Kim, Gu-Hwan,Choi, Jin-Ho,Yoo, Han-Wook Korean Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics 2014 대한의학유전학회지 Vol.11 No.2

Mowat-Wilson syndrome is an extremely rare genetic disease that is characterized by intellectual disability, facial dysmorphism, Hirschsprung's disease, and other congenital anomalies. This disorder is caused by heterozygous mutations or deletions in the zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox-2 gene (ZEB2). Thus far, approximately 200 cases of Mowat-Wilson syndrome have been reported worldwide. In Korea, only one case with a 2q22 deletion, which also affects ZEB2, has been previously reported. Here, we describe a patient with Mowat-Wilson syndrome who presented with developmental delays, typical facial dysmorphism, and Hirschsprung's disease. Molecular analysis of ZEB2 identified a novel heterozygous mutation at c.190dup ($p.S64Kfs^*6$). To our knowledge, this is the second report of a Korean patient with Mowat-Wilson syndrome that has been confirmed genetically.

( Darae Lee ),( Yoon Hyeon Hu ),( Chorong Kim ),( Tae Gyu Ahn ),( Hyang Ah Lee ),( Sunghun Na ),( Jong Yun Hwang ),( Dong Hun Lee ),( Se Jin Lee ) 대한산부인과학회 2020 대한산부인과학회 학술대회 Vol.106 No.-

Corpus luteum cyst rupture with consequent hemoperitoneum is a common disorder in women in their reproductive age. And ectopic pregnancy has also hemoperitoneum. Tubal abortion, which is a rare type of ectopic pregnancy, is characterized by the extrusion of an ectopic product of conception implanted in the fallopian tube through the abdominal ostium into the peritoneal cavity. A 39-year-old woman visited emergency room because of abnormal bleeding and lower abdominal pain since 3 days ago. She was an infertile patient. She had In vitro fertilization and embryo transfer a month ago, but she failed pregnancy and continued to had vaginal bleeding. In urine test, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) was positive. Ultrasonographic findings showed that the absence of an intrauterine gestational sac, with bilateral ovarian anechoic cyst and small echogenic free fluid in posterior Cul-de-Sac(PCDS). According to the blood test, beta-hCG was 3,679 mIU/mL and hemoglobin was 8.4 g/dL. The vital sign was stable. She was hospitalized and monitored, and the next morning on a blood test, beta-hCG dropped to 2,905mIU/mL and hemoglobin 7.3 g/dL. Ultrasound findings, fluid collection was increased, and emergency surgery was determined. In the surgical findings, hematoma of the right fallopian tube was observed, cyst rupture was found in the right ovary, and ovarian cyst was also observed in the left ovary. She had right salpingectomy, bilateral ovarian cystectomy, and dilatation and curettage with biopsy. Pathologic results were hematoma in tubal lumen, hemorrhagic corpus luteal cyst. In uterine endometrium, there are proliferative glands with predecidualized stroma. After surgery, she was received routine post-operation care and discharged home. We report a rare hemoperitoneum case in which both hemorrhagic corpus luteal cyst and tubal abortion developed simultaneously.

Multilayered Graphene Electrode using One-Step Dry Transfer for Optoelectronics

Lee, Seungmin,Jo, Yeongsu,Hong, Soonkyu,Kim, Darae,Lee, Hyung Woo Optical Society of Korea 2017 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.1 No.1

In this study, multilayered graphene was easily transferred to the target substrate in one step using thermal release tape. The transmittance of the transferred graphene according to the number of layers was measured using a spectrophotometer. The sheet resistance was measured using a four-point probe system. Graphene formed using this transfer method showed almost the same electrical and optical properties as that formed using the conventional poly (methyl methacrylate) transfer method. This method is suitable for the mass production of graphene because of the short process time and easy large-area transfer. In addition, multilayered graphene can be transferred on various substrates without wetting problem using the one-step dry transfer method. In this work, this easy transfer method was used for dielectric substrates such as glass, paper and polyethylene terephthalate, and a sheet resistance of ~240 ohm/sq was obtained with three-layer graphene. By fabricating organic solar cells, we verified the feasibility of using this method for optoelectronic devices.

      • L-type amino acid transporter SLC43A2 in ovarian cancer regulate accumulation and suppressive function of MDSC in TME

( Darae Lee ),( Iseul Kim ),( Eun-jeong Park ),( Boram Lee ),( Chorong Kim ),( Yoon Hyeon Hu ),( Heejoo Hong ),( Se Jin Lee ),( Tae Gyu Ahn ),( Hyang Ah Lee ),( Sung Hun Na ),( Jong Yoon Hwang ),( Yun 대한산부인과학회 2022 대한산부인과학회 학술대회 Vol.108 No.-

Objective: Ovarian cancer is the most lethal malignant cancer in women. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) accumulation in tumor microenvironment (TME) contribute poor prognosis of ovarian cancer patients. Tumor cells consume high amount of nutrition to meet their bioenergetics/biosynthetic demands. High nutrition demand of tumor cells leads to deprivation of several nutrition in TME, making that tumor-infiltrating immune cells compete with cancer cells for nutrition to maintain their own function. SLC43A2 is a type of L-type amino acid transporter found in various cancers, resulting in methionine deprivation in TME. Methods: The TCGA data sets were used for analyzing the correlation of SLC43A2 mRNA, MDSC markers, and overall survival of ovarian cancer patients. Whole blood was collected from fifteen patients who underwent debulking surgery in Kangwon National University Hospital. PBMC and serum was isolated from the whole blood. Immune cells in PBMC were analyzed with flowcytometry. Methionine was measured with LC/MS method. Results: We found that SLC43A2 mRNA negatively correlates with overall survival and mRNA of MDSC markers including CD33, CD14, CD15 and PD-L1 from ovarian cancer patients as assessed with TCGA data sets. Additionally, serum methionine concentration showed negative correlation with percent of CD11b+ CD33+ cells (represented as MDSC phenotype) in PBMCs donated from ovarian cancer patient cohort. We also found that tumor growth was delayed and tumor-infiltrating granulocytic MDSCs was reduced in SLC43A2 KO melanoma-bearing mice as compared to WT-bearing mice. Gr-1+ MDSCs isolated from SLC43A2 KO melanoma-bearing mice revealed reduced T cell suppression activity than MDSCs isolated from WT melanoma-bearing mice. Conclusion: These findings suggested that alteration of TME metabolism due to high level of SLC43A2 expression in cancer cells resulting in methionine deprivation can affect MDSC physiology and anti-cancer immunity.

After cunsultation with orthopedics doctor, she got surgery of incision and drainage at S-I joint. After surgery, her hip pain was improved, and she discharged.

      • Efficient 3D Volume Reconstruction from a Point Cloud Using a Phase-Field Method

        Jeong, Darae,Li, Yibao,Lee, Heon Ju,Lee, Sang Min,Yang, Junxiang,Park, Seungwoo,Kim, Hyundong,Choi, Yongho,Kim, Junseok Hindawi Limited 2018 Mathematical problems in engineering Vol.2018 No.-

<P>We propose an explicit hybrid numerical method for the efficient 3D volume reconstruction from unorganized point clouds using a phase-field method. The proposed three-dimensional volume reconstruction algorithm is based on the 3D binary image segmentation method. First, we define a narrow band domain embedding the unorganized point cloud and an edge indicating function. Second, we define a good initial phase-field function which speeds up the computation significantly. Third, we use a recently developed explicit hybrid numerical method for solving the three-dimensional image segmentation model to obtain efficient volume reconstruction from point cloud data. In order to demonstrate the practical applicability of the proposed method, we perform various numerical experiments.</P>

Water vapor is main absorption factor of outgoing longwave radiation. So, it is essential to monitoring the changes in the amount of water vapor and to understanding the causes of such changes. In this study, we monitor temporal variability of Total Precipitable Water (TPW) which observed by satellite. Among climate variables, precipitation play an important part to analyze temporal variability of water vapor because it is produced by water vapor. And El Nino is one of climate variables which appear regularly in comparison with the others. Through them, we analyze relationship between temporal variability of TPW and climate variable. In this study, we analyzed long-term change of TPW from Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroadiometer (MODIS) data and change of precipitation in middle area of Korea peninsula quantitatively. After these analysis, we compared relation of TPW and precipitation with El Nino. The aim of study is to research El Nino has an impact on TPW and precipitation change in middle area of Korea peninsula. First of all, we calculated TPW and precipitation from time series analysis quantitatively, and anomaly analysis is performed to analyze their correlation. As a result, TPW and precipitation has correlation mostly but the part had inverse correlation was found. This was compared with El Nino of anomaly results. As a result, TPW and precipitation had inverse correlation after El Nino occurred. It was found that El Nino have a decisive effect on change of TPW and precipitation.

      • COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT NUMERICAL SCHEMES FOR THE CAHN-HILLIARD EQUATION

        Seunggyu Lee,Jaemin Shin,Darae Jeong,Hyun Geun Lee,Junseok Kim 한국산업응용수학회 2011 한국산업응용수학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.6 No.1

In this work, we numerically analyze a class of time discretizations for the Cahn-Hilliard equation. It is useful to investigate the performance of different schemes in terms of accuracy and efficiency since these schemes are frequently used in various science applications. In this work, comparisons of the explicit Euler’s, implicit Euler’s, Crank-Nicolson, semi-implicit Euler’s, linearly stabilized splitting, and non-linearly stabilized splitting schemes are presented. The continuous problem has the conservation of mass and the decrease of the total energy. We check the same properties hold for the discrete problem.
