조선시대 강원도에서 생산하는 삼베를 강포(江布) 또는 상포(常布) 라 하며, 그 가운데 평창군에서 나는 것을 ‘평창농포(平昌農布)’라 따로 부른다. 평창군에서 오랫동안 지속되었던 삼 재배와 삼베 짜기는 1960년 중반부터 급격히 줄어든다. 그러나 이를 전승하기 위한 노력은 계속되었다. 1984년 평창방림삼베삼굿보존회가 결성되어 1986년 강원도민속경연대회에 참여하였다. 2021년에는 삼베길쌈을 포함한 삼베민속을 전승 · 보존하고자 평창 ‘방림삼베민속보존회’로 명칭을 변경하여 체계적인 전승을 위한 노력을 하고 있다. 삼베 생산 관련 민속은 다양하게 정리 · 분석될 수 있다. 필자는 평창 ‘방림삼베민속보존회’를 중심으로 전승되는 삼베 생산 관련 도구들을 정리 · 분석하여 평창 방림 삼베를 좀 더 명확하게 이해하기 위한 토대를 제공하고자 한다. 평창 방림삼베민속은 삼베짜기에 국한되지 않고 삼베 생산을 위한 전체 과정에 대한 전승 체계(전통 삼베 직물 공예기술, 삼농경 지식, 삼베민속 관련 민요, 공연예술로서의 방림삼베삼굿놀이)를 모두 갖추어 보존 · 전승 활동을 하고 있으며, 이와 관련한 각종 도구들을 모두 구비하고 있다. The hemp cloth produced in Gangwon-do during the Joseon Dynasty was called ‘Gangpo[江布]’ or ‘Sangpo[常布]’. Among them, hemp cloth produced in Pyeongchang-gun is called ‘Pyeongchang Nongpo[平昌農布]. Hemp cultivation and hemp weaving continued in Pyeongchang-gun for a long time. Then, from the mid-1960s, it declined rapidly. However, efforts to pass down the folklore of livelihood related to hemp cloth continued. In 1984, the Conservation Society was formed. From 2021, the name of the Preservation Society has been changed and efforts have been made for systematic transmission. Folklore related to hemp cloth production can be organized and analyzed in various ways. I organized and analyzed the tools related to hemp production centered on the preservation society. I would like to provide a foundation for a clearer understanding of hemp cloth in Bangrim-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun. The preservation society has all kinds of tools related to hemp production.

원주 신림 성황림(천연기념물 93호)은 마을과 주민을 보호하는 ‘비보숲’이자 마을의 수호신이 있는 신성공간이다. 공동체 의례에서 신체(神體) 만큼 중요한 대상이 신림(神林)과 신목이다. 신화문맥에서 우주나무인데 신내림의 매개체인 신대 역시 주목되고 신의 성격인 신림도 맞물린다. 신목은 몽골리안-샤먼로드와 관련이 깊은 문화유산이다. 신목은 신불(神市)과 신림의 신격의 상징화를 통해 인간계에 현시하는 대상이다. 신목의 가치는 신화적 맥락에서 고구려벽화의 씨름 나무나 백제계 칠지도(七支刀) 등처럼 신대, 신간 형태로 놀이, 축제, 공연구비예술의 소통 매체로 기능하고 있다. 숲과 신목에 대한 층위별 생태적 속신관념을 살폈다. 숲의 생태성과 어메니티 가치를 바탕으로 공동체 의례-서낭제, 신화전승 등-를 지속시켜 나아가야 한다. 아울러 산림문화 산림민속 정책의 일관성과 미래성을 담보해야 한다. 특히 마을 주민들에게는 숲의 창의적인 전승활동도 보장해야 한다. 이를 위해 성황숲의 순환성, 신불 성격의 신성성, 숲 친화의 생태적 삶의 진정성에 대해 체험 프로그램화, 교육 미디어화, 피칭워크숍화 등을 동시다발 로 진행해야 할 것이다. 숲의 인문유산적 국면을 발굴하고 이를 마을 공동체 차원에서 함께 실천할 필요가 있다. 숲은 오래된 천연보물이다. Wonju Seonghwangrim (Natural Monument No. 93) is a ‘Bibo forest’ that protects the village and its residents, and is a sacred space with the guardian deity of the village. In the community ritual, the objects as important as the body are the shinrim and the god tree. In the context of myth, the universe tree, which is the medium of 〈Shin-narim〉, is also noted, and the divine character silrim is also interlocked. The divine tree is related to the Mongolian-shaman road. This is a deep cultural asset. The divine tree is an object that is revealed to the human world through the symbolization of the divine Buddha and the divine deity of Silrim. The value of the divine tree is in a mythological context, such as the Goguryeo mural painting of〈Sirum-tree〉, Baekje’s Chiljido. It is functioning as a communication medium for plays, festivals, and performing arts in the form of new generations and new books. The ecological conception of each level of forests and divine trees was investigated. Based on the ecology of the forest and the value of amenity, community rituals - Seonangje, myth, etc. -should be continued. In addition, the consistency and future-ability of forest culture policies must be ensured. In particular, the creative transmission activities of the forest should be guaranteed for the villagers. For this programe, it is necessary to simultaneously conduct experientialization, educational mediaization, and pitching workshops on the circularity of the Seonghwang -Forest, the sacred nature of the divine nature, and the authenticity of forest-friendly ecological life. It is necessary to discover the cultural heritage aspect of the forest and put it into practice at the village community level. Forests are ancient natural treasures.
