통번역에 자주 사용되는 표현

본 논문은 통번역 연습을 하면서 그리고 학기중이나 방학중에 실전 통번역을 하면서 접한 표현 중에서 유용하다고 생각되는 표현을 모아서 분야별로 정리한 것이다. 분야는 가장 많이 접하는 경제분야와 그 외분야로 구분하였다. 그리고 연설문에서 자주 등장하는 표현과 속담을 따로 정리하였으며 접속사와 연결어도 모아서 정리하였다. 표현 정리형식은 우리말과 그에 따른 영어 표현 그리고 영어예문이다. 각 분야별 표현은 알파벳(ㄱ, ㄴ, ㄷ.../a, b, c...)순으로 정리하여 찾아보기 쉽게 구성하였다. 그리고 우리말 한 가지 표현에 대해서 여러 가지의 영어 표현을 모아서 다양한 표현이 정리되도록 노력하였다. Here I listed frequently used expressions in interpretation and translation which I encountered during interpretation practice and interpretation work for the past two years. So that I can systematically memorize those expressions and use them in interpretation and translation. I divided those expressions into two categories, economic expressions, which I account the most, and the other expressions. And I also listed conjunction, liking expressions and proverbs. They are sorted by alphabet(ㄱ,ㄴ,ㄷ.../a,b,c...). I tried to list various corresponding English expressions against one Korean expression.

번역의 이론 및 실제 번역의 예

2년 동안 선문대학교 통번역대학원에서 공부하는 동안 학과 수업을 통해 배운 번역 기법을 바탕으로 실제 번역 한 자료를 토대로 번역의 실례와 더불어 번역의 기법을 설명하는 것으로 본 논문의 방향을 설정했다. 이론이 정립되지 않은 상황에서 무작정 번역을 한 것과 번역의 이론은 접한 후 번역의 품질은 현저하게 달랐다. 번역의 이론에 대한 개괄적인 설명과 함께 실제로 번역한 내용을 바탕으로 나만의 효과적인 번역 기법에 대해 연구하고자 한다. 수많은 시행착오와 실수들을 반복하면서, 아직도 학습의 연장선상에 있는 상황에서, 본 논문의 주제를 번역의 기법으로 정한 것은 쉽지 않은 일이었다. 아직도 배울 것이 많은 아마추어이기 때문이다. 이 논문을 통해 아직도 갈팡질팡하는 내 자신의 이론 기법이 자지를 잡았으면 하는 바람과 함께 앞으로 번역의 길을 가고자 하는 후배들에게 많은 도움이 되었으면 한다. A successful translator is a person who continues to find out his/her translation color through a lot of experiences and numerous trials and errors. However, it is impossible if there is a lack of understanding about the theory of translation. This paper is intended to explain the ways to translate on the basic theory of translation. The translated version in this paper can never become absolute answers. What I want to intend is to become a guide by considering my previous experiences. In addition, translation work needs to consider other factors such as readers’ background and knowledge. More importantly, the great consideration is consideration purpose of the translation itself. In that regard, examples in this paper were grounded in my real translation work. As the original version of the examples is targeting certain professionals, what was focused on was to deliver exact information effectively. Consequently, this thesis aims to show how translation can be completed in an effective and smooth way. By considering books about translation written specialized translators, I introduce a number of examples which could aid the understanding of the general theory of translation.

세계화 및 정보화 시대에 사는 현대인에게 양질의 필요한 정보 습득 능력이 요구 됩니다. 이런 시점에서 영어의 이해는 그 중대성이 실로 크다고 하겠습니다. 따라서 정보의 분석과 전달을 통해 효과적인 의사소통을 돕는 통번역사의 역할이 어느 때 보다도 큽니다. 이 논문은 통번역사들 및 통번역을 공부하는 이들에게 도움이 되는 연설문 표현과 주요 시사표현 위주로 실었습니다. 편의상 주제별로 구분해 일반적인 예문을 들었습니다. In this era of globalization and information, people need to have access to quality information they need. In this regard, understanding English is vital. Thus, the time requires the role of translators more than ever before as they help people with different culture and language efficiently communicate each other by analyzing and delivering information. This thesis carries useful expression on speeches and current English in an effort to help those involved in interpretation and translation. It is divided into several subjects along with practical example sentences.

통번역에 자주 사용되는 표현

본 논문은 통번역 과정 동안 연습을 하면서 그리고 실전통번역을 하면서 접한 표현 중에서 유용하다고 생각되는 표현을 모아서 비슷한 표현끼리 모아 정리한 것이다. 분야는 경제분야에서부터 그 외 환경, 스포츠, 북한 문제 등 다양하다. 표현 정리방식은 우리말과 그에 따른 영어 표현 그리고 영어예문 순이다. 각 분야별 표현을 비슷한 표현끼리 정리함으로써 찾아보기 쉽게 구성하였으며 우리말 한 가지 표현에 대해서 여러 가지의 영어 표현을 정리 할 수 있도록 하였다. If the purpose of learning English is in enhancing translation skils, the main focus of study should be in finding the way to best use English in a real situation. I started to work on this thesis in the understanding that it is imperative to collect practical and frequently used English expressions from English texts and learning them. The expressions in this thesis are from various English texts ranging from newspapers to magazines and speeches and they cover subjects like economy, environment, sports and North Korean issues. This thesis consists of Korean expressions, equivalemt English expressions and example sentences. I belive this will be a strarting point in continuously working on collecting and learning more useful for translation.

21세기 정보 통신의 시대, 지식 기반 사회에서는 개인의 지식과 역량을 어떻게 발전시켜 나가는가에 따라 그 미래가 결정된다고 할 수 있다.마찬가지로, 통번역사도 변화하는 시대 흐름에 발맞추어 시장에서 탄탄한기반을 마련하기 위해서는 무엇보다도 전문가 수준의 지식과 실력을 겸비해야 한다. 최근 몇 년간 한국이 IT 강국으로 부상하면서 IT 분야의 통번역 수요또한 증가하고 있다. IT 분야는 컴퓨터 소프트웨어와 하드웨어, 전원 관리 장치, 유무선 랜, 솔루션, 네트워크, 휴대폰, 반도체, 그리고 게임 산업등에 이르기까지 매우 광범위하며 전문적인 지식을 바탕으로 하고 있다.뿐만 아니라 번역물의 경우, 업계에서 원하는 다양한 툴을 이용한 번역이 대다수인 것이 현실이다. IT 분야의 번역은 다른 일반 분야보다 양적으로 방대한 경우가 많아서 문건의 통일성과 일관성을 더욱 중시하는 경향이 있다. 게다가 IT 업계에서 통용되는 번역 원칙 또는 특정 업체 고유의 번역 지침이 존재하므로 번역사는 이를 충분히 숙지한 후 번역에 임해야 하는 경우가 많다. 내용 면에서는 전문적인 지식을 요구하는 경우가 대부분이므로 이 분야에서 쌓은 많은 경험과 전문성은 보다 수준 높은 번역을 위한 기본 바탕이 될 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 서론에서 현재 한국과 외국의 다국적 기업뿐 아니라라이언 브리지, 글로벌 웨이 등 MLV(Multi-Language Vendor: 통번역전문기업)에서 많이 사용하고 있는 번역 툴인 TRADOS와 그 사용법을소개하고,본론에서 이를 이용한 번역의 기본 원칙,실제 사례 및 번역의 Skill을 언급한 다음, 결론에서 TRADOS 이용 시 장단점과 쿼리 작성법을 제시함으로써 IT 분야의 번역 방법을 소개하고자 한다. In the 21century, the era of knowledge-based society, the future of individuals depends on how they develop and advance their knowledge and capabilities. Likewise, interpreters/translators must have and develop professional knowledge and abilities in response to an ever-changing world, which can lay a solid foundation for their successful career. In recent years, Korea has emerged as an IT powerhouse in the world market, which also has resulted in increasing demand for interpretation/translation in the IT sector. This field consists of a wide variety of industries, ranging from computer software, hardware, power management devices, wired/wireless LANs to solutions, networks, semiconductors, and online games, all of which are based on professional knowledge. In particular, Computer Aided Translation (CAT) software like TRADOS has been widely used in the area of IT. It is essential to ensure consistency and unity in translating bulky documents related to IT. For this reason, IT companies encourage translators to use CAT tools. Many IT materials are very professional and difficult to translate, but translators' expertise and skill in the IT arena can lead to a high-level translation. Therefore, this paper introduces one of the CAT tools, TRADOS which has been generally used not only in Korea's IT vendors, but also in Multi-Language Vendors (MLVs) such as LionBridge and GlobalWay. And the paper also offers the basic principles and examples of translation using TRADOS, which will hopefully help set the stage for a professional translation.

시사 중심 통번역 용어

영어란 참 묘합니다. 아니 언어라는 것이 참 묘하다고 표현하는 것이 더 옳은 것 같습니다. 결국은 커뮤니케이션을 주 목적으로 하기 때문에 언어 즉 말을 배운다는 것이 어려운지도 모릅니다. 특히 한글과 많이 다른 영어라는 서구권 언어를, 빠르고 정확하게 연계해주어야 할 통 번역 전공자에게 있어 용어의 중요성은 거듭 강조해도 지나치지 않을만큼 중요하다고 봅니다. 물론 일상 생활에서 쓰임 즉 말하기가 주 목적이므로 모든 분야를 고루 아는 것이 통역사에게 필수적입니다만 이 논문에서는 시사를 중심으로 한 용어 정리에 더욱 중점을 두었습니다. 정치, 경제, 과학, 의료, 국방, 사회 등 현안을 중심으로 공부한 텍스트의 주요 용어를 정리하였으므로 통역 현장에서 그리고 번역시 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것입니다. 더불어 대학원 수업에서 다룬 주제별 텍스트 및 개인적으로 공부한 자료를 중심으로 용어를 정리하였으므로 통 번역에 대한 전반적 이해에도 도움이 될 것으로 생각합니다. Frankly to say, understanding and using English is little bit queer to me. Rather it's more correct to say that learning languages is quite queer. The queerness might come from, I think, that fact that learners must use the languages in actual communication with others. To interpreters who have to fast and correctly connect people with using western languages such as English, one cannot emphasize too much the importance of glossary. And to interpreters, it is quite necessary to diversely know almost every sectors, but this paper only focuses on filing words based on current issues. The words filing from economics, science and medical & military sectors might be helpfully utilized in interpretation and translation. And I think the words gathering here might enhance the overall understanding on the interpretation and translation.

Further, they are required to have not only a rich lexicon of terms used in specific areas, but also the ability to use the terms appropriately in a given context. However, few books show how and where to use a term correctly. Alphabetically ordered, word-for-word glossaries on the market do not help either. This paper, in this sense, deals with technical terms and expressions by sector "in context" and, therefore, will be useful for translation and interpretation. 일한번역연구 : 생명은 어디에서 왔는가

논문작성에 즈음하여 평소 관심을 가지고 있었던 분야에 대해서 하기로 선택을 하였다. 생명이라는 분야를 물리학적인 관점에서 살펴본다는 점이 흥미로웠다. 분자생물학의 발전으로 지구상의 생물에 대해서는 생명의 기본형이 밝혀졌고 그 성과를 토대로 우주생명의 존재양식과 그 기원도 풀이가 가능하게 되었다. 본서에서는 우주물리학의 관점에서 '생명이란 무엇인가' 혹은 '생명은 어디에서 왔는가'라는 테마로 한정하기로 한다 우주의 진화가 어떠한 이유로 현재와 같은 모습을 갖추게 되었는가에 대해서는 아직 수수께끼의 상태이다. 이 우주의 진화과정에서 지구상에 생명이 탄생하고 우주의 신비에 가까운 생물종을 낳았다. 생명의 기원과 진화 사이에는 우주의 비밀이 담겨져 있는 듯 하다. 인류는 지구상에서 가장 고등한 생명체로서 그 생명의 비밀과 의미를 찾으려고 많은 시도를 해왔다. 결과 지구상의 생명의 탄생과 우주의 탄생에 대해서는 어느 정도 밝혀졌다. 하지만 인류는 여기에 머물지 않고 지구외에서 생명체를 찾기 위해 오래전부터 위성을 발사하고 전파를 보내는 등 다양한 시도를 계속하고 있다. 이러한 인류의 시도가 언젠가는 빛을 보게 되는 날이 있을 것이다. 마지막까지 번역을 하면서 처음 접한 말들도 있었고 그 중에는 국내에서 통일되어 있는 않은 채 우리말로 옮겨져 사용되고 있는 말들도 있었다. 그러한 말들에 있어서는 여러 사용례들을 비교하여 우리말로 가장 자연스럽게 표현하고자 하였다. 이 번 번역을 통해서 번역이란 단순히 언어의 변환작업이 아니라 그에 대한 조사와 연구 그리고 외국어 실력도 중요하지만 한국어에 대한 이해가 중요하다는 것을 새삼 느낄 수 있었다. 이번 기회를 바탕으로 앞으로 번역을 해 나가는데 있어서 명심하겠다고 다시 한번 다짐한다. 卒業論文のテ-マとして以前から關心を持っていた分野を扱うことにした。生命という分野を物理學の觀点から扱っている本書『生命はどこからきたか』に興味を引かれ、これを飜譯することにした。 分子生物學の發展により、地球上の生物については、生命の基本型が明らかにされたが、その成果の上に立って、地球外生命の存在樣式やその起源が硏究できるようになった。 この書では、宇宙物理學の視点から、「生命は何か」或は「生命はどこからきたか」というテ-マに迫ることを試みている。 宇宙の進化が、どのような理由により、現在のような姿になったのかについては、今でも、謎のままである。この宇宙の進化の過程で、地球上に生命が誕生し、宇宙の謎に迫ろうと試みる生物種を産み出した。生命の起源には、宇宙の秘密が隱されているようにみえるのである。 人類は地球上で最も高等な生命體であり、その生命の秘密と意味を求めて樣樣な努力をしてきた。その結果、地球上の生命の誕生と宇宙の誕生は幾分明らかになっている。しかし、人類は繼續して地球外での生命を探すため、長期間にわたり衛生を打ち上げ、電波を發送するなど多樣な試みを行っている。 こうした人類の努力が何時かは成果を收めるだろう。 本書の飜譯の過程では初めて目にした用語もあり、その中には韓國內で一律的に使われていない用語さえあった。こうした用語の表現に關しては多樣な事例を比較して、韓國語らしい表現に譯することにした。 今回の飜譯を通じて、飜譯は單に言語の置き換えでないこと、飜譯をするためにはそれに關する調査と硏究が重要であること、外國語の實力も必要であるが母國語の理解が一層重要であることを改めて感じることができた。本書の飜譯を機に、今後こうしたことを肝に命じて飜譯という作業に臨むことを改めて誓う。
