미중패권경쟁에서 아세안을 통한 한국의 경제개발 전략에 관한 연구

        유근환(Keun Hwan Yoo),양혜원(Hye Won Yang) 대구과학대학교 국방안보연구소 2023 사회융합연구 Vol.7 No.6

The trade competition between the United States and China is fierce enough to affect relevant allies. Semiconductors play an important role in cutting-edge technology, so much so that they are called the rice of the high-tech industry. Since they are essential for automobiles, mobile phones, displays, etc., there is a need to ensure a safe supply chain in the industry. This study focused on the need to strengthen economic diplomacy using ASEAN to enhance Korea's national interests amid the US-China hegemony competition. ASEAN countries pursue practical benefits through hedging strategies. As the war in Ukraine continues and Israel and the Palestinian radical armed group led by Hamas are at war, an international security crisis is emerging, and ASEAN countries are converging on the need for strategic cooperation. The United States has consistently made efforts to improve relations, emphasizing a pivot to Asia. China believes that it is necessary to secure Chinese influence in the Southeast Asian region and is actively participating in ASEAN. Korea In order to strategically overcome this difficult situation, we must strengthen cooperation with ASEAN countries and promote economic diplomacy to secure practical benefits. Korea should strengthen economic diplomacy with ASEAN and make strategic efforts to create a win-win relationship when ASEAN countries achieve rapid economic growth in the future. Korea should secure its national interests by cooperating with Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia and strengthening economic diplomacy.

Is Electroencephalography Useful in Children with Developmental Delays but without Overt Seizures?

        Yoo Jung Lee,Yoon Hee Jo,Soo Han Choi,Hye Won Yoo,Ha Young Jo,Su Jeong Park,Kyung Hee Park,Ju Hyun Kong,이윤진,남상욱,Young Mi Kim 대한소아신경학회 2024 대한소아신경학회지 Vol.32 No.2

Purpose: Electroencephalography (EEG) is useful for clarifying the association between cortical activity and cognitive processes in children. We investigated whether EEG abnormalities were correlated with developmental delay/intellectual disability (DD/ID) in the absence of clinical seizures. Methods: We retrospectively identified 166 children with DD/ID who underwent EEG at Pusan National University Hospital between January 2011 and December 2021. We compared clinical characteristics and test results between those with normal and those with abnormal EEGs. Additionally, we analyzed EEG abnormalities in relation to neurodevelopmental disorders, specifically autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Results: Of the 166 patients, 39 (23.5%) displayed abnormal EEGs, while 127 (76.5%) had normal EEGs. Of the former, 25 (64.1%) patients exhibited epileptiform discharges, including 22 (56.3%) with focal and three (7.7%) with generalized discharges. Focal discharges most frequently affected the central area (35.9%). Twenty patients (51.3%) exhibited rhythmic slowing patterns. Epilepsy diagnoses were significantly more common among patients with abnormal EEGs (n=8, 20.5%) than among those with normal EEGs (n=9, 7.1%) (P<0.001). Of 22 patients with ASD, five (12.8%) had abnormal EEGs. Of 13 patients with ADHD, five (36.4%) had abnormal EEGs, all with epileptiform discharges. Two patients with ASD and two with ADHD exhibited rhythmic slowing. Abnormal EEG findings were significantly more common among those with genetic abnormalities compared to genetically normal patients (26 vs. 13, P=0.017). Conclusion: EEG represents a potential screening tool for children with DD. Abnormal EEG findings are associated with increased epilepsy risk, informing diagnosis and treatment planning.

Yoo, Hye Won,Yoon, Lira,Kim, Hye Young,Kwak, Min Jung,Park, Kyung Hee,Bae, Mi Hye,Lee, Yunjin,Nam, Sang Ook,Kim, Young Mi The Korean Pediatric Society 2018 Clinical and Experimental Pediatrics (CEP) Vol.61 No.10

Purpose: Bell's palsy is characterized by sudden onset of unilateral facial weakness. The use of corticosteroids for childhood Bell's palsy is controversial. This study aimed to identify clinical characteristics, etiology, and laboratory findings in childhood Bell's palsy, and to evaluate the efficacy of corticosteroid treatment. Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of children under 19 years of age treated for Bell's palsy between January 2009 and June 2017, and followed up for over 1 month. Clinical characteristics, neuroimaging data, laboratory findings, treatments, and outcomes were reviewed. Patients with Bell's palsy were divided into groups with (group 1) and without (group 2) corticosteroid treatment. Differences in onset age, sex, laterality, infection and vaccination history, degree of facial nerve palsy, and prognosis after treatment between the groups were analyzed. Results: One hundred patients were included. Mean age at presentation was $7.4{\pm}5.62years$. A total of 73 patients (73%) received corticosteroids with or without intravenous antiviral agents, and 27 (27%) received only supportive treatment. There was no significant difference in the severity, laboratory findings, or neuroimaging findings between the groups. Significant improvement was observed in 68 (93.2%) and 26 patients (96.3%) in groups 1 and 2, respectively; this rate was not significantly different between the groups (P=0.48). Conclusion: Childhood Bell's palsy showed good prognosis with or without corticosteroid treatment; there was no difference in prognosis between treated and untreated groups. Steroid therapy in childhood Bell's palsy may not significantly improve outcomes.

      • Amyloid-Beta-Activated Human Microglial Cells Through ER-Resident Proteins

        Yoo, YongCheol,Byun, Kyunghee,Kang, Taewook,Bayarsaikhan, Delger,Kim, Jin Young,Oh, Seyeoun,Kim, Young Hye,Kim, Se-Young,Chung, Won-Il,Kim, Seung U.,Lee, Bonghee,Park, Young Mok American Chemical Society 2015 Journal of Proteome Research Vol.14 No.1

Microglial activation in the central nervous system is a key event in the neuroinflammation that accompanies neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimers disease (AD). Among cytokines involved in microglial activation, amyloid beta (A beta) peptide is known to be a key molecule in the induction of diverse inflammatory products, which may lead to chronic inflammation in AD. However, proteomic studies of microglia in AD are limited due to lack of proper cell or animal model systems. In this study, we performed a proteomic analysis of A beta-stimulated human microglial cells using SILAC (stable isotope labeling with amino acids in cell culture) combined with LC-MS/MS. Results showed that 60 proteins increased or decreased their abundance by 1.5 fold or greater. Among these, ER-resident proteins such as SERPINH1, PDIA6, PDIA3, and PPIB were revealed to be key molecular biomarkers of human microglial activation by validation of the proteomic results by immunostaining, PCR, ELISA, and Western blot. Taken together, our data suggest that ER proteins play an essential role in human microglial activation by A beta and may be important molecular therapeutic targets for treatment of AD.

Polyimide/polyvinyl alcohol bilayer gate insulator for low-voltage organic thin-film transistors

        Yoo, Sungmi,Kim, Yun Ho,Ka, Jae-Won,Kim, Yong Seok,Yi, Mi Hye,Jang, Kwang-Suk Elsevier 2015 ORGANIC ELECTRONICS Vol.23 No.-

Abstract

In this paper, we report the fabrication of a polyimide/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) bilayer gate insulator for low-voltage organic thin-film transistors (TFTs). The introduction of a PVA layer to form a bilayer structure improves the dielectric and insulating properties of the gate insulator. Organic TFTs with 150nm-thick polyimide and PVA gate insulators were inactive at low operation voltages below 5V. Conversely, organic TFTs with 150nm-thick polyimide/PVA bilayer gate insulators exhibited excellent device performances. Our results suggest that the introduction of a PVA layer with a high dielectric constant could be a simple and efficient way to improve the device performance of low-voltage organic TFTs.

Highlights

We report the polyimide/PVA bilayer gate insulator for low-voltage organic TFTs.

Introduction of the PVA layer for forming the bilayer structure improves dielectric and insulating properties of the gate insulator.

Pentacene and C8-BTBT TFTs with the 150nm-thick bilayer gate insulators exhibited excellent device performance.

Graphical abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]

      • Dental hygiene and COPD exacerbations

( Hye Sook Choi ),( Chin Kook Rhee ),( Yong Bum Park ),( Kwang Ha Yoo ),( Jung Mi Lee ),( Kyung Hee Son ),( Seung Hyun Lee ),( Kwak Won Kun ) 대한결핵 및 호흡기학회 2019 대한결핵 및 호흡기학회 추계학술대회 초록집 Vol.127 No.-

Background: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship of dental brushing and COPD acute exacerbation in patients with mild to moderate COPD. Methods: This was a retrospective observational study. Data were obtained from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) (2007 ~ 2012) database. Mild to moderate COPD patients were defined as 50 % ≤ FEV1 <80%. Acute exacerbation of COPD was defined as emergency room visit or hospital admission with prescription of antibiotics and/or systemic corticosteroid within 3 days. We defined the exacerbators as the patients with history of exacerbations during 6 years, and the non-exacerbators as the patients without history of exacerbations during 6 years. We examined the tooth brushing before sleeping, whether tooth brushing or not per a day, the use of tooth floss, the use of interdental tooth brush. We survey whether tooth brushing pattern affect the exacerbation. Results: A total of 241 patients (10.1%) had experienced exacerbations among 2363 mild to moderate COPD patients. Exacerbators showed older ages compared to non-exacerbators (68 yrs vs. 62 yrs, p<0.001). Exacerbators showed lower frequency of tooth brushing before sleeping compared to non-exacerbators (16.2% vs. 24%, p=0.008). Exacerbators showed lower frequency of tooth brushing before survey day (93.4% vs. 97.8%, p=0.021). Exacerbators used tooth floss less compared to non-exacerbators (4.3%, vs. 13.7%, p<0.001). Odds ratio is 0.30 (95% CI 0.15-0.62, p=0.001) of dental floss users for COPD exacerbations compared to non-users. Conclusions: Dental floss user experienced less exacerbations than non-users. Dental floss might decrease COPD exacerbations. Further studies will be needed.

Inhibitory effect of fermented Arctium lappa fruit extract on the IgE-mediated allergic response in RBL-2H3 cells

YOO, JAE-MYUNG,YANG, JU HYE,YANG, HYE JIN,CHO, WON-KYUNG,MA, JIN YEUL UNKNOWN 2016 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR MEDICINE Vol.37 No.2

Arctium lappa fruit has been used in traditional medicine, and it is known to exert beneficial effects, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects. However, the effects of the Arctium lappa fruit on the allergic response remain unknown. In this study, we evaluated the anti-allergic effects of Arctium lappa fruit extract (AFE) and its fermented form (F-AFE) using immunoglobulin E (IgE)-activated RBL-2H3 cells. To investigate the anti-allergic effects of AFE or F-AFE, we examined the release of beta-hexosaminidase, a key biomarker of degranulation during an allergic reaction, and the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and prostaglandin E-2 (PGE(2)) in the cells treated with or without the above-mentioned extracts. AFE weakly inhibited the release of beta-hexosaminidase, whereas F-AFE significantly suppressed the release of beta-hexosaminidase in a dose-dependent manner. Consistently, F-AFE suppressed the production of TNF-a and PGE2 in a dose-dependent manner. F-AFE exerted an inhibitory effect on the production of beta-hexosaminidase, TNF-a and PGE2 with an IC50 value of 30.73, 46.96 and 36.27 mu g/ml, respectively. Furthermore, F-AFE inhibited the phosphorylation of Lyn, Fyn and Syk, which are involved in the FceRI signaling pathway, that of phosphoinositide phospholipase C (PLC)gamma 1/2 and protein kinase C (PKC)delta, which are associated with the degranulation process, as well as that of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2), c-Jun N-terminal kinase 1/2 (JNK), p38 and Akt, which are associated with cytokine expression. In the late phase, F-AFE partially suppressed the phosphorylation of cytosolic phospholipase A(2) (cPLA(2)), but not the expression of cyclooxygenase (COX)-2. To compare and identify the major components of the two extracts, we used high-performance liquid chromatography. The levels of arctigenin, one of the major compounds, were elevated 6-fold in F-AFE compared with AFE, whereas the levels of arctiin, an arctigenin glycoside, were decreased in F-AFE by approximately 57.40%. These results suggest that arctigenin plays an important role in the anti-allergic effects of F-AFE. Taken together, F-AFE containing anti-allergic phytochemicals, including arctigenin, inhibited the activation of the FceRI receptor induced by the antigen-IgE complex. Such effects may provide further information for the development of a phytomedicine for allergic diseases.
