        This study is to suggest some developmental policies by analyzing the activities of first aid party in Kwanagju and Chonnam regions for two years from Jan. 1, 1994 to the end of December. 1995. First, the residents in Kwangju and Chonnam regions have the sufficient benefits of emergency medical center, but it will be desirable that general hospital should be established and managed in Kohung peninsula which forms the wide island area far away from big cities. Second, the classification of the degree of severe case in the field by rescue members should be strengthened as the means which can reduce the number of patients transferred to the emergency room and the legal method which rescue members can select the medical agency. Third, children less than 10 are most frequent emergent patients and it is due to parent's indifference and children's insensibility to safety. So the safety education in the course of infant and elementary education should be strengthened and the method which can keep the self safety through the legal system. Fourth, to increase the rate of emergency measure by rescue members, the reasons of fail of emergency treatment are suggested, the treatment results of each rescue member are analyzed every year and it is desirable that the system which can evaluate the personal ability should be introduced. Fifth, the medical accidents occurred in the case of medical act by rescue members must take the legal responsibility, but such a problem can be solved with the compensation of insurance system by government. Sixth, to reduce the time required for transfer, traveling service system for the fixed period in beach should be complemented and extended more and service system at ordinary times should be examined at mountains, the area of traffic jams and large special industrial park. Seventh, since service system with one team of two members of 119 rescue party in expressway cannot be mobilized when multiple accidents occur at the same time, it is considered that service system of two teams of four members should be extended. Eighth, first-aid service in expressway is conducted with rescue and emergency treatment by the rescue party at the same time, but the professional rescue lacks and it may result in the injury of patients. Therefore the creation of rescue party in expressway is the urgent problem.

        Investigation of atomic-layer-deposited Al-doped ZnO film for AZO/ZnO double-stacked active layer thin-film transistor application

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films with different Al concentrations fabricated by atomic layer deposition are investigated to determine the Al doping effect for AZO/ZnO double-stacked active layer thin-film transistor (TFT) applications. The AZO films are analyzed by X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, which show that the Al dopants affect the crystallinity, including the crystal direction and grain size, and reduce the deep trap sites such as oxygen vacancies (V<SUB>O</SUB>). The optimized Al doping concentration is about 2%. TFTs with an AZO (2%)/ZnO double-stacked active layer are fabricated and shown to exhibit a lower threshold voltage (V<SUB>th</SUB>), subthreshold slope, and V<SUB>th</SUB> shift under a positive gate-bias stress compared to ZnO single-layer devices. In the case of the on-current, however, the AZO stacked devices exhibit a smaller value. These electrical characteristics can be explained by V<SUB>O</SUB> suppression and altered crystal properties due to Al doping. For the field-effect mobility, the temperature dependence also reveals that the main transport mechanisms are thermionic and thermal field emission over the grain boundary in the AZO stacked devices. These results indicate that the AZO film properties depend strongly on the Al concentration and hence the ZnO-based devices can be optimized for specific application by Al doping.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> AZO thin films with different Al doping concentration were analyzed. </LI> <LI> Through physical analysis, 2% AZO showed the best characteristics. </LI> <LI> The use of AZO showed improved stability through gate bias stress measurement. </LI> <LI> The main transport mechanism was analyzed through temperature dependence of mobility. </LI> <LI> The main transport mechanism is thermionic and thermal field emission. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Severe hypertriglyceridemia is a rare condition in pregnancy, which can be a life-threatening complication if the degree of hypertriglyceridemia is severe enough. Most cases of severe gestational hypertriglyceridemia that have been reported previously in the literature were caused by genetic mutations or familial. hypertriglyceridemia secondary to lipoprotein lipase deficiency or apolipoprotein C-II deficiency. but reports of severe gestational hypertriglyceridemia is rare in korea. We report a case of recurrent severe hypertriglyceridemia induced pancreatitis in pregnancy. 임신 중에 중증 고중성지방혈증은 드물게 발생한다. 하지만 중증 고중성지방혈증에 의해 중증의 췌장염이 발생할 경우 산모나 태아에게 치명적인 합병증이 될 수 있다. 저자들은 임신시 재발한 고중성지방혈증에 의해 발생한 췌장염 중례를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

        결핵 및 만성폐새성폐질환에 의한 폐성심의 환기력학의 차이

        Ventilatory dynamics were studied in R2 cases of cor pulmonale caused by either chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) or far advanced pulmonary tuberculosis, with particular reference to differences in airways dysfunction between two groups. Ventilatory functions tested in this study were analyses of forced expiratory volume curves, maximal expiratory flow volume curves and determinations of closing volume with its ratio to vital capacity. The degree of airways obstruction as determined by the parameters derived from forced expiratory and maximal expiratory flow volume curves, observed and volume-adjusted, showed no significant difference between two groups, except for fast vital capacity which was significantly larger in the latter. The closing volume was significantly larger in patients with cor pulmonale due to COPD than in the other, hut its ratio to vital capacity showed no significant difference between two groups. Comparison of vital capacity and fast vital capacity in patients with COPD with and without cor pulmonale were insignificant. In contrast, these two parameters in patients with far advanced pulmonary tuberculasis with cor pulmonale were significantly smaller than in those without, and the degree of reduction in vital capacity in those with cor pulmonale was as much as 50 percent on the average. This suggests that in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis advanced to the extent to cause cor pulmonale is associated with destruction of approximately half of the lung tissues as reflected by vital capacity. The findings also suggest that in patients with cor pulmonale due to pulmonary tuberculosis, there is definite and considerable large and small airways obstruction similar to that in the other group, as well as restrictive ventilatory impairment.

        소아마취의 최신순환 방법에 대한 임상적 연구

        During the last decade, non-rebreathing systems have been used extensively for pediatric anesthesia, but if this is used for long periods, invariable dryness of the airway develops, leading to decreased ciliary functionand reduced transport of secretions, thus producing stagnation which interfs with respiratory function postoperatively. The use of a to-and-fro system for infant anesthesia had disavantage, such as the dead space was excessive at the start of each use increased with the exhaustion of soda lime, the apparatus being clumay and difficult to handle, and the sodalime crurabled, and powder was blown into the patient's face and airway. A new circle system was divised for the Ohio infant circle system, two unidirectional valves removed, a Holm's valve attached to the corrugated tubes. It has been used for 13 anesthetics in children aged from 3 months to 8 years in the department of anesthesiology. Hanyang University, college of medicine from November to December of 1980. The conclusions are as follows; 1) The degree of the oral temperature was lower in the non-rebreathing system than in the new circle system, but was no significance betweenth two groups. 2) The systemic temperature of the new circle system was 29.8+0.9℃, and the systemic temperature of the non-rebreathing system was 27.5+0.4℃, so there was a meaningful difference between the two groups. 3) Preansthetic temperature of the soda-lime in the new circle system was 24.5+1.6℃, and 30 min. after the induction was 34.5+3.4℃, so it increased by more than 10℃. This might suggest that it was helped the body temperature and the humidification of the airway. 4) The PCO_2 levels 30min. after induction was meaningfully lower in both systems. This might suggest that it was due to hyperventilation. 5) The gas flow of the non-rebreathing system averaged 6L/min, and the gas flow of the new circle system was 2 L/min, so the consumption of fresh gas and anesthetic agent was low in the comparison with the former. Theremer this might suggest that it helped the humidity of the airway, the function of the mucous membrane, and the body temperature. 6) As Holm's valve, its weight 12gm, its resistance 0.5cm-H_2O, its deadspace 1ml, was used for both spontaneous and controlled respiration in small children with the circle system, it might suggest that of can compensate for the disadvantages of the old circle systems and non-rebreathing systems.
