        In January 1983, the writer visited a few universites in Japan to survey the recent trend of studies in cultural and social Sciences. At that time what I researched is as follows; In Japan, many a learned society has been organized and the research activities were very lively. Mass publication of scientific periodicals and prompt translation of foreign writings showed the maturity of scientific atmosphere. It true that their study of literature has been performed on the basis of positivism since 1930'. But now Structuralism which consider's literary works as one organic unity of parts became the main basis of literary studies. And, Learned Society of Educational Law has been organized in Japan. In consequence, the level of researches in educational law could be remarkably high. So, it is necessary for us to study the law of education. For, to make it better, we must know not only the universal principles of education but also specific ones derived from the peculiar characteristics of Korean education. At the same time, in Japan, Department of the Law of Industrial Administration was established in 14 universities including Japan University. And with the help of it, companies could improve the efficiency in dealing with judicial affairs related with industrial administration. So, to be a winner in the international trade competition, it is also required for us to study the judicial affairs of industrial administration.

        Papillon-Lefevre Syndrom의 임상 및 미생물학적 검사와 치료

        The Papillon-Lefevre Syndrome(PLS), a disease with autosomal recessive inheritance, is characterized by diffuse hyperkeratosis of the palms and soles, mostly prepubertal periodontitis and premature loss of primary and permanent dentition. The etiology of the destruction of periodontal tissues has not been completely clarified. In recent years, two main factors are suggested to be responsible for tooth loss : firstly, the presence of gram negative microorganisms in the periodontal pockets of the patients. The other factor suggested is cellular deficiency in chemotaxic and phagocytic function of neutrophylic granulocytes. Resent data suggestes that mechanical debridement in conjunction with antibiotic therapy may be successful in periodontal management of Papillon-Lefevre Syndrome, particularly if administered early. In this study, a Papillon-lefevre syndrome patient was studied clinically, radiologically, histopathologically and microbiologically. 5 years female patient with gingival swelling and destruction of periodontal structure on the whole dentition were examined and palmar and plantar hyperkeratosis were can be seen. On microbiological analysis, Actinobacillus actino-mycetemcomitans was performed. Concurrently, the children recieved extraction of maxillary anterior teeth and construction of removable prosthetis. The combination of professional oral hygiene care and antibiotic therapy improved the dermatologic and peridontal condition.

      • 銅鑛山廢水로부터 分離한 구리 耐性菌(P.stutzeri)의 菌體內 구리 蓄積 特性

        Of the copper-tolerant 215 bacterial strains isolated from polluted river water, wastewater and activated sludges of wastewater treatment plants, or wastewater and soils of the copper mine aera in Gyeongnam province a strain, which showed considerably higher growth rate in the agar plate containing 2000ppm of copper than any other strains, was identified as a Pseudomonas stutzeri or its similar strain when analyzed by taxonomical charicteristics. Optimum pH and temperature for the growth of the P. stutzeri were 7.0 and 30℃ respectively. This strain was resistant to antibiotics, such as ampicillin and tetracycline, and heavy metals, such as lead and chromium. This strain utilized phenol benzen or toluene as a sole carbon source. The rate of copper accumulation in P. stutzeri cell was enhanced at low concentration of Cu in the growth media. The maximum copper absorption by this strain grown in 10ppm of Cu at 3 days after culture was 49%, but in 50ppm and 100ppm of Cu was 38% and 32%, respectively. The optimal temprature and pH for the effective intracellular accumulation of copper were 30℃ and initial pH 8.0 under shaking culture.

        In order to study the mechanism of the copper accumulation in the cell of copper-tolerant bacterium, Pseudomonas stutzeri, distribution of the copper in the cell were investigated. Approximately 61% of the accumulated copper was distributed on the cell wall and the other 39% portion was in cytoplasm. 78% of the copper in the cell wall fractions was present in the polyphosphate and polysaccharide fractions, but most of copper in the cytoplasm fractions was in protein and nucleic acid. Copper affected the protein synthesis in P. stutzeri. The intracellular protein content was decreased by copper addition, but the soluble protein precipitated by ammonium sulfate(30-75% saturation) was increased as compared to that from the cells grown without copper. Furthermore, in the cells grown with copper, high-molecular-weight soluble protein was increased, compared with the cells grown without copper, but low-molecular -weight soluble protein was decreased. These results indicate that copper inhibited the intracellular protein biosynthesis but enhanced the biosynthesis of the high-molecular-weight soluble protein precipitated by ammonium sulfate(30-75% saturation).

        열공형과 비열공형 피질하 혈관성 치매에서 위험인자의 차이에 관한 비교 연구

        Backgrounds and Objectives: Vascular dementia is a group of dementing disoders arising from various stroke syndrome. Among these. subcortical ischemic vascular dementia (SIVD) is regarded as a relatively distinct clinical entity. However, MRI patterns of SIVD are not homogenous. In some patients, lacunes are dominant, and in others, subcortical white matter changes are. This study was designed to compare risk factor profiles between SIVD with and without multiple lacunes. Methods: We divided 47 subjects (22 males, mean age. 68 years) recruited from VADAPET (Multicenter Trial For Evaluation Of The Changes In the PET Images Of Subcortical Vascular Dementia Patient) study into two groups one with more than 5 lacunes in deep gray matter (lacune group) and the other with 5 or less(non-lacune group) Clinical characteristics and laboratory findings of two groups were compared. Results: Nineteen of 47 patients (40%) belonged to the lacune group. The lacune and non-lacune groups d d not differ in the following variables: age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia heart disease, history of stroke or TIA, history of trauma or major surgery, family history of hypertension stroke, or dementia, age at diagnosis of dementia, body mass index, white blood cell count, ESR, CRP, fibrinogen, hemoglobin A1C, total cholesterol. LDL cholesterol creatinine, proteinuria, glucosuria, and microhematuria. However, male sex, smoking alcohol. hemoglobin, and HDL cholesterol were possibly associated more with lacune group SIVD than with non-lacune group (p<0 1) Multivariate analyses revealed that smoking, hemoglobin, and HDL cholesterol were independent predictors of SIVD with multiple lacunes Conclusion: Our study suggests that SIVD with multiple lacunes may be significantly different in smoking habits hemoglobin, and HDL cholesterol from SIVD without multiple lacunes.

      • A Case Report of Reversal with Sugammadx in a Myasthenic Patient

        Background/Objectives: Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease caused by the development of antibodies against the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. Methods/Statistical analysis: MG causes weakness and fatigue of the respiratory muscles, so that there is hypersensitivity against non-depolarizing muscle relaxants. In general acetylcholinesterase inhibitors are administered to reverse the muscle blockade, but the use of neuromuscular blocking agents in myasthenic patients is usually delayed due to the drugs that already inhibit cholinesterase, resulting in a delay in spontaneous respiration. Sugammadex eliminates the effects of steroid non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, such as rocuronium and vecuronium, by selectively encapsulating their molecules. Case: We present a case of reversal of neuromuscular blocking agent and return to spontaneous respiration with sugammadex in a myasthenic patient. Findings: We also evaluated the degree of spontaneous respiration by comparing pulmonary function tests before and after surgery in a MG patient. Improvements/Applications: Sugammadex is a good option of fast reversal of neuromuscular blocking agent and return to spontaneous respiration in a myasthenic patient.

        Arctii Fructus Inhibits Colorectal Cancer Cell Proliferation and MMPs Mediated Invasion via AMPK

        <P>Although Arctii Fructus (AF) has been shown to have various pharmacological effects, there have been no studies concerning the inhibitory effects of AF on the metastatic properties of colorectal cancer (CRC). The aim of this study was to investigate whether AF could suppress CRC progression by inhibiting cell growth, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), migration, and the invasion ability of CRC cells. AF decreased proliferation of CRC cells by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis via extrinsic and intrinsic apoptotic pathways. Regarding metastatic properties, AF inhibited EMT by increasing the expression of the epithelial marker, E-cadherin, and decreasing the expression of the mesenchymal marker, N-cadherin, in CT26 cells. Moreover, AF decreased the migration and invasion of CT26 cells by inhibiting matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and MMP-9 activity. We confirmed that the decreased invasion ability and MMP-9 activity by AF treatment involved AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation. Collectively, this study demonstrates that AF inhibits the proliferation and metastatic properties of CRC cells.</P>

        경주국립공원 화랑지구의 관속식물상과 관리방안

        The purpose of this study is to offer the raw data for management and conservation of national park by systematic and objective surveying and analysing the flora distributed in the Hwarang district, Gyeongju national park. The results are as follows. The vascular plants in this site were summarized as 396 taxa; 95 families, 272 genera, 351 species, 2 subspecies, 38 varieties and 5 forma. The rare plants designated by Korea Forest Service were 5 taxa; Exochorda serratifolia S.Moore, Potentilla discolor Bunge, Prunus yedoensis Matsum, Lysimachia coreana Nakai and Inula salicina var. asiatica Kitam.. The korean endemic plants were 6 taxa; Populus tomentiglandulosa T.B.Lee, Clematis trichotoma Nakai, Lespedeza maritima Nakai, Lysimachia coreana Nakai, Forsythia koreana (Rehder) Nakai and Weigela subsessilis (Nakai) L.H.Bailey. The specific plants by floristic region were 30 taxa; Asplenium sarelii Hk., Salix chaenomeloides Kimura, Lysimachia barystachys Bunge, Achillea alpina L., Celtis aurantiaca Nakai, Vitex negundo var. incisa (Lam.) C.B.Clarke and so forth. The plants with approval for delivering oversea were 6 taxa; Clematis trichotoma Nakai, Exochorda serratifolia S.Moore, Glycine soja Siebold & Zucc., Lespedeza maritima Nakai, Lysimachia coreana Nakai and Weigela subsessilis (Nakai) L.H.Bailey. The naturalized plants were 49 taxa; Bilderdykia dumetora (L.) Holub, Descurainia pinnata Britton, Oxalis corymbosa DC., Bidens frondosa L., Panicum dichotomiflorum Michx. and so forth. The invasive alien plants were 2 taxa; Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. and Aster pilosus Willd. In future, if we will survey the flora of whole Gyeongju national park, we will offer the help to establishing the conservation plan of ecosystem in Gyeongju national park.

        창원시 도시공원의 관속식물상과 특성 : 용지공원과 반송공원을 중심으로

        본 연구는 창원시 용지공원과 반송공원에 분포하는 관속식물상을 객관적으로 조사 및 분석함으로서 도시생태계 회복을 위한 기초자료 제공을 하기 위함이다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 관속식물은 82과 181속 211종 1아종 22변종 6품종 등 총 240분류군으로 요약되었다. 산림청 지정 희귀식물은 측백나무, 주목, 왕벚나무, 호랑가시나무, 이팝나무, 범부채 등 6분류군으로 나타났다. 한국특산식물은 능수버들, 해변싸리, 개나리 등 3분류군이 관찰되었다. 식물구계학적 특정식물은 쇠고사리, 동백나무, 예덕나무, 노랑어리연꽃, 가시나무, 낭아초, 큰피막이 등 21분류군으로 조사되었다. 귀화식물은 소리쟁이, 미국자리공, 좀명아주, 토끼풀, 미국질경이, 큰비짜루국화 등 27분류군으로 나타났다. This study is to offer the raw data for restoring the urban ecosystem by objective surveying and analysing the vascular plants distributed in Yongji park and Bansong park, Changwon-si, Korea. The results are as follows. The numbers of vascular plants were summarized as 240 taxa; 82 families, 181 genera, 211 species, 1 subspecies, 22 varieties and 6 forma. The rare plants designated by Korea Forest Service were 6 taxa; Thuja orientalis L., Taxus cuspidata Siebold & Zucc., Prunus yedoensis Matsum., Ilex cornuta Lindl. & Paxton, Chionanthus retusus Lindl. & Paxton and Belamcanda chinensis (L.) DC.. Korean endemic plants were 3 taxa; Salix pseudolasiogyne H.Lév., Lespedeza maritima Nakai and Forsythia koreana (Rehder) Nakai. The specific plants by floristic region were 21 taxa; Arachniodes rhomboidea (Wall. & C.Presl) Ching, Camellia japonica L., Quercus myrsinaefolia Blume, Indigofera pseudotinctoria Matsum., Hydrocotyle nepalensis Hook. and so forth. The naturalized plants were 27 taxa; Rumex crispus L., Phyt olacca americana L., Chenopodium ficifolium Smith, Trifolium repens L., Plantago virginica L., Aster subulatus var. sandwicensis A.G.Jones and so forth.
