This paper aims to investigate Korean advanced L2 English learners’ strategies for ellipsis resolution during sentence processing. Ellipsis resolution is known to involve several stages of information processing from the initial step of detecting an ellipsis-licensing element by the parser to the final stage of integrating the ellipsis site with the information retrieved from the antecedent of the ellipsis site. In examining these steps, we have manipulated three factors: (i) TP vs. VP-ellipsis; (ii) two types of discourse coherence relations (resemblance(-contrast) vs. cause-effect relations); (iii) voice match vs. mismatch. We found through the ERP recordings that voice mismatch in TP ellipsis elicited N400, followed by P600, irrespective of discourse coherence relations. In contrast, voice mismatch in VP-ellipsis registered N400 only in resemblance(-contrast) relation, but not in cause-effect relation. These findings lead us to conclude that Korean advanced L2 learners of English seem to undergo the full sequence of processing stages required for ellipsis resolution.

OP ART와 현대 패션에 관한 연구

Fashion desigeners continually have been in search of the mutual relation between clothes and paintings to satisfy diverse and characteristic consumers desires. Especially in fashion, originality is noticeble, which has been inspired by colors and expressions in paintings. As one kind of this trend, in 1960's Op Art has illusive and hallucinant characteristic and is both the formative shape asking for the keen visual response and reflecting well the modern mechanical atmosphere with the stiff and geometrical line. And Op Art has been applied in the dress design, it is required that Op pattern limited simply to the pattern have to get out of that. And the new sensible visual apprearance itself have to be used in the subject of design. In color, Op pattern color characteristic is black and white. Which is the most suitable color representing a modern's individuality. The black and white color disposition stimulates most strongly the eyesight. Therefore it is emphasized the charteristic driven by the largest of the effect of an optical illusion. Conclusively, Op Art has introduced in modern fashion, optical illusion driven into the geometrical line, the apt harmony of moving human body and three dimentional pattern and the illusive moving by the double effect of projecting thing and reconstructing perceptible effect by interaction of pattern and pattern.

The purposes of this study were to: a) investigate how other countries brought up their traditional food into the commercial market for tourists b) analyze present marketing status of the Korean traditional food in dealing with foreign tourists as consumers. Present marketing status of the overseas and domestic tourism products focusing on traditional foods was investigated through literature reviews and face-to-face in-depth interviews conducted with professionals in tourism business. As a result, the foreign tourism products focusing on traditional foods were diverse and these products were representative of the regional heritage brought together in an effect to increase understanding of traditional foods. In case of the tourism products focusing on Korean traditional cuisine, the popular programs were 'Making Kimch', 'Making ricecake' and 'Making Bibimbap' in which tourists participated have expressed great satisfaction. The results of this study would be used as an important data in developing unique tourism programs focusing on Korean traditional cuisine attracting foreign tourists.

단크론항체를 이용한 소 로타바이러스 감염증 치료시험

To study the efficacy monoclonal antibody(MAb) against bovine rotavirus(BCV) in treatment of calf diarrhea, the MAb was fed to 166 calves with diarrhea from Chung-buk area. The results were summarized as follows. 1. Among the 1,049 calves investigated, 166(16%) calves were infected with BCV. 2. The monthly rate of BCV infection were higher in October to December compared with other months of the year. 3. Among the 166 calves with diarrhea, 137(83%) calves were recovered. 4. Young calves within 7-day-old were more effective in treatment than other ages and the rate of treatment was 86%. 5. Most effective period for treatment of rotavirus was at the first stage of infection.

성인 영성의 신체 만족도에 다른 기능성 파운데이션 착용실태 및 구매관련 행동

The purpose of this study was to examine whether wearing practice and purchasing behavior of functional foundation garments of adult women were differed by the body cathexis of them. Body parts evaluated were bust, waist, abdomen, hip, and thigh which related to functional foundation garment wearing. Data for this study were collected using questionnaire from October 17 to October 21, 2001. Data from 476 were used in the first analysis and 333 were analysed in the final analysis. Frequency distribution, descriptive statistics, T-test, χ^2 were used to analyse the data. The results obtained were as follows: 1. There were no significant difference between the two groups divided by body cathexis in wearing practices of functional foundation garments including possession, items, wearing time of them. 2. There were no significant difference between the two groups divided by body cathexis in purchasing behavior including information seeking, stores where they bought functional foundation garments, and brands they purchased.

그룬트비의 평민교육사상과 그 실제

그룬트비의 평민교육사상은 그가 비판했던 '죽음의 교육'과 닮아있는 우리 교육현장에 중요한 시사점을 준다. 그룬트비는 그 민족의 고유한 말과 문화를 온전히 품고 있는 평민의 삶을 진보적인 게몽과 문화를 지향하는 방향으로 안내하는 교육을 통해 덴마크 사회를 변화시킬 수 있다고 주장한다. 평민교육사상을 실천하기 위한 핵심 요소는 살아있는 말과 상호 작용, 폴켈리드(folkelighed) 정신, 그리고 자유다. 평민대학은 이를 실현하는 새로는 형태의 교육기관이며, 이곳에서 학생들은 삶을 위한 교육을 통해 자유롭고 민주적인 사회를 구성할 평민으로 성장한다. 삶의 경험을 교육내용으로 삼고, 살아있는 말을 통한 상호작용이 그룬트비가 제안하는 교육의 핵심이다. 그룬트비의 평민교육사상은 우리에게 새로운 교육의 실현 가능성과 그를 통한 사회변화의 가능성을 보여준다. 그 핵심은 소수만을 위한 엘리트 교육이 아닌, 사회구성원 모두의 행복과 삶을 위한 평민교육에 있다. The purpose of this study is to gain some suggestions for the improvement of education in Korea through the analysis of N.F.S. Grundtvig's philosophy and practice of folk education. Grundtvig suggested that Denmark can be reformed by the folk education. Folk education guides the folk who keeps their mother tongue, own culture and national spirit to the enlightenment of life. In Grundtvig's perspective, the enlightened folk should be the center of the democratic society. Therefore he focused on the education for folk. The core factors of folk education are the living word, the living interaction, the folkelighed, and the freedom. The Folk High School is the new educational institution that realizes folk education. In this school, students(folks) grow as a good civil who makes Denmark a better democratic society by the living education. The curriculum that is based on the experience of life and the living interaction through the living word is the heart of the folk education that Grundtvig suggested. Grundtvig's educational ideas and practices give us excellent inspiration of the new educational paradigm. The point is not the education for elite, but the education for all the people(folk) who consists the society.

Serratia marcescens에서 cAMP receptor protein(CRP)유전자의 클로닝 및 해석

전사조절인자로서 잘 알려져 있는 cAMP receptor protein(CRP)은 cAMP와 DNA에 결합하는 특별한 활성을 가지고 있으며, cAMP-CRP complex를 형성하여 수많은 유전자의 발현조절에 관여한다. 이러한 측면에서 cAMP-CRP의 조절은 어떤 면에서 총체적 조절체계라고까지 한다. 본 연구는 Serratia 균주에서 crp유전자의 분자적 특성 및 cAMP에 의한 발현조절을 받는 분자기구를 해석하고자 유전자를 클로닝하고 발현을 확인하였다. MacConkey배지에서 maltose를 탄소원으로 충분히 이용하지 못하는 대장균 TP2139(△crp,△lac)를 숙주로 이용하고, 염색체DNA를 library로 작성하여 얻은 형질전환체 약 일만개의 콜로니에서 red colony를 나타내는 5종류 의 양성 클론을 얻었다. 이들 클론을 Southern방법으로 확인한 결과 3kb의 단편을 가진 pCKB12클론이 crp유전자를 coding하고 있음을 확인하였다. glpD-lacZ 융합 plasmid인 pLDC6 의 BamHI부위에 pCKB12의 3kb 단편을 삽입시킨 재조합 plasmid pLDC 6-Scrp를 작성하여, 클로닝된 Serratia 의 crp 유전자가 대장균에서 유전자 전사조절에 미치는 영향을 확인한 결과 cAMP-CRP 복합체 형성에 의한 전사조절 기능이 확인되어졌다. One of the better-characterized transcription factor of E. coli is the cAMP receptor protein(CRP) and the CRP binds cAMP and DNA. The cAMP-CRP complex is involved in regulation of many genes at bacteria. The cAMP-CRP regulatory element represents, in some respects, a global regulatory network. The aim of this work was to study the structure and the mechanisms controlling the expression of CRP in Serratia marcescens. We have been get 5 different clones from Serratia which stimulated the cells to use maltose as a sole carbon source in E. coli TP2139. The crp gene clone, pCKB12, was confirmed by Southern hybridization with E. coli crp gene. The location of the crp gene was determined by constructing subclones carrying various portions of pCKB12. To investigate the potential role of CRP in E. cloi, lacZ fused plasmids were constructed and investigated the β-galactosidase activity of the fused plasmid. The Serratia marcescens cAMP receptor protein can substitute the E. coli CRP in transcriptional activation at the lacZ gene. These results suggest that Serratia marcescens cAMP receptor protein complex functions to regulate several promoters in E. coli.

식육중 테트라사이클린계 항생물질 잔류조사

In an effort to improve the quality of meat and to monitor farms, residual tetracyclines in local beef and pork produced in the province of North Chung-cheong were determined by a EEC 4-plate, Charm Ⅱ and HPLC, respectively. The results were summarized as follows; 1. Of the 547 samples, 4 beef and 13 pork samples were judged to be positive by EEC 4 -plate method. 2. Detection rates of tetracyclines by type 1(+ + - -) and type 2(+ + + or + + ± -) micro-bial growth inhibition in EEC 4-plate method were 100% and 71%, respectively. 3. Of 17 positive samples, 6 were positive for tetracyclines, 4 were positive for tetracyclines and sulfonamides, 1 was positive for sulfonamides, and 2 were positive for others by Charm Ⅱ test. 4. The best eluents were 0.01M methanolic oxalic acid, and the ideal temperature for stable concentration was 40℃ as optimal HPLC analytical conditions for the detection of tetracy-clines. 5. Of the 10 positive samples for tetracyclines by Charm Ⅱ test, tetracyclines were confirmed in 2 beef and 6 pork samples, using HPLC, at levels ranging from 3.64~4.22 ppm and 0.2~1.20 ppm, respectively.
