Today, almost all families are quipped with computers. At the same time, we can find lots of side-effects because of computers. If young students, who tend to be unable to control their impulses once they are immersed in internet, the problem will be more serious. It could be happened that the young students can't distinguish the real from the image. Therefore, it is important to grasp the actual condition of juvenile Internet addicts and their practical life, and to come up with basic materials necessary for working out countermeasures. This study surveyed 339 high school students from three high schools in the area of Seoul. Data collection were collected from 22nd of December, 2003 to 27th of December 2003. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS program using T-test, ANAVA and Pearson correlation coefficient. The results were as follows: First, of the 333 respondents 9.61% of them were high-risk internet using group, 15.02% of them were potential-risk internet using group. 25% of then were identified as addicted group. Second, the more addicted the subjects are, the lower their level of school adjustment becomes. For the addicted group, it is difficult to adjust their school and to have a good relationship with friend. Third, the more addicted the subjects are, the lower their level of friendship becomes. The subordinate areas of friendship have same results as the level of Internet addiction and the extent of friendship. If students are addicted to Internet, it is difficult to find friends who can give them encouragement in practical life. Firth, there was a negative relationship between Internet addiction and school adjustment, and, there was a negative relationship between Internet addiction and friendship. Through this study we have seized the relationship between Internet addiction and school adjustment and friendship. As a result, the more addicted, the more difficult to adjust to school. And for the students who were addicted, it is difficult to make a friend.

Background : Microvascular angina or syndrom X is heterogenous and encompasses different pathogenetic entities. Several studies suggest that microvascular angina have good prognosis and occurs predominantly in postmenopausal women. Lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, CRP and fibrinogen are the independent risk factor of acute coronary syndrome and are the chief underlying cause of atherosclerosis. We investigated clinical characteristics and markers in patients with microvascular angina. Methods : We studies 23 patients diagnosed with microvascular angina and 16 control group with negative treadmill exercise test and no significant coronary angiogram. We investigated clinical characteristics in patients group and evaluated symptom during a follow-up period of 4.2± 2.5 month. Exercise time in treadmill exercise test was compared between patients and control group. We assessed the level of markers, such as lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, CRP and ESR in two groups. Results : There is no difference in age between two groups. Patients group had a tendency to increase in female, hypertension, DM, and smoking history, but there was no statistical significance difference. Exercise duration time was significantly decreased in patients with microvascular angina (p<0,05). Serum lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholestrol, Triglyceride, ESR, Fibrinogen and Homocystein value were no significant difference between microvascular angina and control group. Only CRP was significantly high in patients with microvascular angina (p<0.05). Conclusion : There was no statistical significance difference in age, sex, hypertension, DM and smoking history between two groups but patients group had a tendency to increase the prevalence in hypertension, DM and smoking history, female. Also, Symptom improvement and disappearance in follow-up was presented in 11 patients of 19(57.9%). Exercise tolerance was worse in patients group than control group. CRP value was significantly higher in patients group than control group. There was no statistical significance difference in lipoprotein (a), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, homocystein, ESR and Fibrinogen between two groups.

Purpose: We wanted to demonstrate the anti-cancer effect and interaction between belotecan and cisplatin on gastric cancer cell line and we evaluated the mechanisms of this synergistic effect in vitro. Materials and Methods: The growth inhibitory effect of belotocan and cisplatin against several gastric cancer cell lines (SNU-5, SNU-16 and SNU-601) was estimated by tetrazolium dye assay. The effect of a combination treatment was evaluated by the isobologram method. The biochemical mechanisms for the interaction between the drugs were analyzed by measuring the formation of DNA interstrand cross-links (ICLs) and DNA topo-I activity. Results: Belotecan showed synergism with cisplatin for growth inhibitory effect on the gastric cancer cell lines SNU-5, and SNU-16, but this was subadditive on the SNU- 601 cell line. The formation of DNA ICLs in SNU-16 cells by cisplatin was increased by combination with belotecan, but this was not affected in SNU-601 cells. The topo-I inhibition by belotecan was enhanced at high concentrations of cisplatin in SNU-16, but not in SNU-601 cells. Conclusion: Belotecan and cisplatin show various combination effect against gastric cancer cells. The synergism between cisplatin and belotecan could be the result of one of the following mechanisms: the modulating effect of belotecan on the repair of cisplatin-induced DNA adducts and the enhancing effect of cisplatin on the belotecan-induced topo-I inhibitory effect. Background/Aims: Despite the increasing need for geriatric assessment prior to chemotherapy, the method for this assessment remains inadequate for older cancer patients. We aimed to propose a simple assessment method to predict the performance of adjuvant chemotherapy in older patients after colon cancer surgery. Methods: This prospective study included patients over 65 years of age who were scheduled for adjuvant chemotherapy after colon cancer surgery. Before initiating chemotherapy, their functional status was assessed on the basis of activities of daily living (ADL)/instrumental activities of daily living (IADL). These parameters were analyzed with clinical characteristics and the patterns of adjuvant chemotherapy. The focus was on the completion rate of adjuvant chemotherapy. Results: A total of 89 patients with a median age of 72 years were analyzed. Among them, 54 (61%) were non-impaired and 35 (39%) were impaired regarding their ADL/IADL classification. Low body mass index and impairment of ADL/IADLs were significantly associated with chemotherapy interruption. Among toxicities, fatigue and hand-foot syndrome were independent prognostic factors for chemotherapy interruption. Impairments of ADL/IADL were significantly associated with fatigue regardless of age. Based on age and ADL/IADL stratification, younger patients (≤ 72 years) and/or those who were ADL/IADL non-impaired were significantly more likely to complete adjuvant chemotherapy than older patients (> 72 years) and ADL/IADL impaired patients (p = 0.038). This was regardless of the chemotherapy regimen. Conclusions: Functional assessment using ADL/IADL is a convenient method to predict chemotherapy toxicity and performance. These results suggested that routine screening for ADL/IADLs could guide appropriate patient selection for the completion of adjuvant chemotherapy and predict expected outcomes.

The skin consists of two main layers, the epidermis and dermis, which are separated by the basement membrane. Epidermal-dermal communication is important for skin homeostasis, and dermal factors play a key role in regulating the growth and differentiation of the epidermis. Several studies have demonstrated that hair follicle dermal sheath cells (DSCs) synthesize more soluble factors than dermal fibroblasts. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of DSCs upon the evolution of skin equivalents (SEs). In this study, human keratinocytes were seeded on two different dermal substitutes. In addition, the effects of ascorbic acid were evaluated. Histologically, thick epidermis was observed in DSC-derived models. Immunohistochemical staining showed similar pattern of involucrin in both DSC- and fibroblast-derived models, but filaggrin was expressed much stronger in DSC models. The number of PCNA positive cells was lower in the DSC model than in the fibroblast model especially in the presence of ascorbic acid. However, integrin a6 was strongly expressed in DSC models and in the presence of ascorbic acid supplementation. These findings suggest that DSCs secrete or synthesize factors, which affect the epidermalization of the skin, and that ascorbic acid is an important supplement in the reconstruction of human epidermis. In addition, transmission electron microscopy of SEs was performed and a well-developed intercellular junction was observed in the DSC models. Our results suggest that dermal compartment-related epidermis modifications are important in the processes of differentiation and proliferation in SEs.

Acquired lymphangioma circumscriptum of the vulva is a rare benign disease that arises from obstruction of pelvic lymphatic drainage. It most commonly occurs due to surgery, lymphadenectomy and/or radiotherapy for cervical cancer and it may also result from treatment of other tumor or non-neoplastic diseases such as Crohn`s disease or tuberculosis. Epidermal reactive changes due to recurrent infections or stimuli occur in some cases and the vulva lesions can mimic condyloma acuminatum or other viral or fungal infections. Herein we describe a case of acquired lymphangioma circumscriptum of the vulva that mimicked condyloma acuminatum and this all presented 13 years after surgery for cervical cancer in a 71 year old woman.
