Objective To support the establishment of lymphedema education plans and the actual practice of education by investigating the current lymphedema awareness status of Korean breast cancer patients. Methods A cross-sectional population survey was conducted in 116 breast cancer patients in the Busan–Gyeongnam area. The survey included questions regarding demographic characteristics, breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) risk factors, and characteristics and treatments of the disease. Some of the items were scored to determine the level of awareness. The items that affect the awareness of lymphedema were investigated by statistical analysis. Results Eighty-one of the 116 patients answered that they had heard of lymphedema, and 30 of them (25.86%) had received explanations about the possibility of lymphedema before surgery. Only 20 patients (17.25%) knew that lymphedema is not a completely curable disease, 24 patients (20.68%) thought that lymphedema does not require any treatment, and only 56 patients (48.27%) knew that lymphedema is treated in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. The main factors that affected patients’ awareness of lymphedema were their age, chemotherapy, duration of breast cancer, and lymphedema treatment history. Conclusion The majority of survey participants who were breast cancer patients either lacked awareness of BCRL or had false ideas about it, indicating the inadequate level of education provided for lymphedema. In the case of breast cancer diagnosis, early and continuous education for future management is essential, and the framework for the provision of education including education protocols related to age, disease duration, and lymphedema treatment is needed.

Jonsei is the most popular tenure type in Korea. One out of three households resides in the housing unit with Jonsei tenure. Jonsei contract is just private one made between landlords and tenants. Tenants give Jonsei deposit to the landlord when they rent a house. Tenants do not pay monthly rent. Instead they give up interest earnings from Jonsei deposit. And the deposit is returned to the tenants when Jonsei contract expires. The purpose of this study is environment changes in the housing rental market and the policy reaction to the steady Increase in jonsei deposit. The study focuses on the envionment factors of Jonsei market and identifies the steady increase in Jonsei deposit as a signal of environment change in rental housing market. Jonsei has been the most efficient one not only for tenants but for landlords. Tenants enjoy their housing with only a half of the unit price, without any monthly payment, and with refund after expiration of the contract. On the other hand, landlords enjoy lump-sum money without paying any interest and the capital gain under continuing increase of house price. The preconditions of this efficiency sustainable are that firstly speculative demand for housing with financial aid from Jonsei deposit is very high and secondly, relatively cheap institutional loans are hard to access. The main results are found as following: The government need not to deeply intervene to solve tenants' financial difficulties directly. Tenants will get bank loans to make increment of Jonsei deposit or pay monthly rent for the Jonsei increment. What the government has to do is to alleviate unstable housing of the low income families and to support smoothing structural change of housing rental market from the capital gain basis(Jonsei) to the cash flow basis(monthly rent).
