Background: If patients have a better understanding about their problem and treatment, compliance and satisfaction with treatment will increase. For this purpose, simple repeated explanations regarding a patients' problem and treatment are essential. Critical pathway (CP) has a very wide range in medicine with the exception of the plastic surgery field. The authors developed a CP for facial bone fractures and implemented it clinically. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the CP on the degree of recognition of the problem along with patient satisfaction with the treatment process. Methods: From May 2011 to October 2011, a total of 82 patients suffering from facial bone fractures were studied. The CP for facial bone fractures was developed by plastic surgeons, residents and nurses. Subsequently, the authors investigated the degree of recognition of the disease and patient satisfaction with the treatment through the use of a questionnaire. The authors compared the score of the questionnaires before and after implementation of the clinical pathway. Results: The degree of the recognition of the problem changed from 3.1 to 4.2 (p<0.001). Further, the degree of satisfaction with the treatment process changed from 3.6 to 4.3 (p<0.05). Overall, there was a two point increase in improvement. Conclusion: Implementation of the CP for facial bone fractures was effective in improving the degree of recognition and satisfaction. The authors expect that hereafter, the CP for facial bone fractures will be implemented actively in the plastic surgery field.

aA series of experiments was planned for practical application of rhizobia in grass lands in Korea. This is the report for the studies mainly on the isolation and characterization of alfalfa nodule bacteria, and on the assessment of their nodulation abilities and nitrogen fixation capacities. 1. Total number of 47 strains was isolated from nodules which were taken from alfalfa grown in Daekwanyong, Cheju and other places. 2. Morphological and cultural characteristics cf the strains were studied, and attempts. were also made to investigate their antigenic properties and to demonstrate lysogenic strains. The results were: ⅰ) the isolates varied in their cultural characteristics on yeast mannitol broth and agar, and in degree of Congo red absorption: ⅱ) similarities in their antigenic properties were found between the strains: SU 47/M-11, M-13/M-15, and M-3/ M-5; ⅲ) no lysogeny was found in the strains. 3. Plant infection test by test tube method in light room were carried out to elucidate the ability of the strains to nodulate Luna alfalfa and of the capacity of such nodules to fix atmospheric nitrogen. The isolates were grouped into non-invasive, ineffective, or effective to the legumes. Those strains which produced effective nodules, supporting similar/higher level of growth as nitrate control were: M-8, 9, 14, 20, 21, 25 and 34.

This study is performed in order to provide the basic information needed for the development of cutting blade for combine. By comparing the developed cutting blade of which were made groove of the surface with the common cutting blade. Friction force and cutting resistance by the cutter bar speed ratio and moisture content of rice stalk were shown as follows: 1. The friction force of the developed cutting blade is shown at the average value 0.12㎏ · m as 25% lower than one of the common blade at the average value 0.16㎏ · m. 2. The cutting resistance of the developed cutting blade is shown as respectively 12%, 15% and 20% lower than one of the common blade at the moisture content of rice stalk of 14.2%, 55.3% and 84.2%. 3. The cutting resistance of cutting blade by two different driving types is shown that the one by double driving type is 0.2㎏ · m, and the one by single driving type is 0.24㎏ · m. 4. Optimum cutter bar speed ratio of cutting blade is shown as different according to the moisture content of rice stalk.
