Considering the rapid growth of mobile devices, such as mobil e phones, PDA, etc., this study aimed to find out a proper model for the influence of mobile service system on the organizational performance. Genera lly the implementation of mobile service systems requires multi-dimensi onal activities related with hardware, software (information system), orgaware, and so on. To accomplish research objectives effectively in this study, the f actors influencing organizational performance were classified as four categories ; c o r p o r a t e 최성용이교엽서비스경영학회지 제4권 제3호 2003년 12월 18operational environment, enterpr ise information infrastructure, b u s i n e s application systems, and mobile services. Top management support and sys tem infrastructure is essential t o b o t h online information and mobile service systems. And mobile servi ce systems must be designed and implemented to meet organizational strateg y. Online information systems have more influence on the organizational p erformance than mobile service systems right now and must be previously co nstructed to implement mobile service systems.

This article aims at studying the Factory Automation (FA) systems in manufacturing firms. The application of automation to productive systems has been rapidly inreased in recent years. Automation is the technology concerned with the application of complex mechanical, electronic and computer-based systems in the operation and control of production. A number of economic and social factors provide the motivation for automaion in manufacturing. Thses reasotns for automating include increased productivity,high cost of labor, shortage, trend of labor toward the service sector, safety, high cost of raw materials, improved quality, reduced manufacturing lead time, reduction of inprocess inventory, and so on. All of these factors act together to make production automation a viable and attractive alternative to manual methods of manufacture. FA Systems are designed to improve the productivity, and to provide flexibility for manufacturing firms. And it is a new automation technology which is applied to the product design, manufacturing and inspection activities. The effect of FA Systems on manufaturing firms is the same as mass production systems. In this paper, theoretical analysis was primarily conducted on its definition, factors, types, and effects of the FA. And finally, a few of promotion strategies were presented in Korean manufacturing firms.
