현대 대수학에서 중요하게 생각되고 있는 것은 멱등원(nilpotent element)이며 이것과 관계된 환의 분류는 다양하다. 이러한 것들 중 reduced ring, reversible ring, Armendariz ring, McCoy ring, IFP ring 등에 대해 알아보고, 이를 통해 새로운 환을 정의하고 그 성질들을 증명하는 것을 목표로 한다.

According to ancient Greek phylosopher Heraclitus, no one can step twice into the same river everything flows, nothing abides and stays fixed; everything is in a state of becoming and nothing ever is In almost the same age, David, King of Israel, cried how long he should wait until his Lord came and saved his soul from the dark valleys of death. The voices of Heraclitus and the cries of David respectively echo in the cries of modern tramps through the dark empty sky: It's never the pus from one second to the next. ...... We're waiting for Godot. The motif of Waiting for Godot reflects not only the personal concern of Sammuel Beckett but also the entire history and fate the Western civilization. Therefore, the discovery of the meaning of waiting in Waiting for Godot will be that of the answer to the question that the Western world has undertaken to solve for a long time. And so it is necessary to set about preparatory study on the meaning of waiting in the periods of ancient Greek myths as well as Hebrew religion. Through the analysis of Greek myths we come to discover the fact that their waiting is the waiting for spring which comes after dark winter the everlasting repetition of birth and death. It has a clearly cyclical pattern. On the contrary, Hebrew waiting is the waiting for God, whose promise is the salvation of man from death and has never been fully realized. It has a clearly linear pattern. However, it has gradually metamorphosed into the two-faced monster of linear and cyclical patterns by the ceaseless threats of meaninglessness in an absurd universe, which is called the eschatological waiting. The human situation in which two tramps are waiting for Godot is characterized by meaninglessness in an absurd universe in which the certainty of being is destroyed. In the world where nothing happens, nobody comes and nobody goes, they do not have anything but waiting for Godot. Knowing that the only thing left for them is passing time to forget and escape from the painful truth that the Godot they have made with their imagination into a kind of God might be as empty a God as the traditional one, the play games which prove be in vain. After the complete breakdown of all the illusory patterns that appear to give meaning to experience after the realisation of the fact that the Godot will never come, Vladimir insists that they must wait for Godot as usual. What on earth does his insistance mean? Is it a conventional retreat to the old faith that Godot will come someday? No clear answer is visible in the play. Even Beckett says that if he knew who or what was meant by Godot, he would have said so in the play. Nevertheless, it is worth while to notice an inner renewal in Vladimir despite his external attitude which shows the same behavior as usual. It is the standpoint of this thesis that the renewal of the understanding of self and world through facing the reality might lead to the renewal of the understanding of Godot. Vladimir's waiting for Godot may show us some clue to it - the possibility to suggest the meaning of existence in the meaningless universe. Repeated asking what it is to wait for Godot just as the ancient Greek would do as to the nature of world and human being, and waiting for the meaning of being just as the old Hebrew would do, though the certainty of being is doubtful, will lead to the possibility that someday the true figure of Godot will be disclosed to us as well as to Beckett himself.

I argue that Definiteness Effect (DE) should include Indefiniteness Restriction (IR) as well as Definiteness Restriction (DR). DR is exhibited by existential constructions, predicate nominals, inalienable possession constructions, and verbs with semantic features like [((CAUSE TO) COME TO) EXIST]. IR is caused by some existence presupposition of aspectual adverbs, aspectual verbs, repetitives, and topic markers. The environments for DR and IR determine the (in)definiteness of Korean bare noun phrases which otherwise can be used either way. The neutralization of DR is also induce by focus which imposes a certain amount of structure on the event quantification. Van der Sandt's (1992) Presuppositions-as-Anaphora-Theory is effectively used to account for those examples from DR, ID, and the neutralization of DR.
