대학 캠퍼스의 야간경관에 관한 연구 : 전북대학교와 원광대학교를 중심으로

야간경관은 밤 시간의 도시를 단순히 ‘밝히는’ 데 그치지 않고 안전과 도시의 미, 사람들의 야간활동을 지원하기 위한 환경을 조성하는 목적에서 조성된다. 대학 캠퍼스는 면적과 유동 인구 면에서 상당한 규모를 가진 공간이기에 도시에서 중요한 위상을 차지하며 그 숫자도 국내로 한정한다 해도 상당하다. 하지만, 대학을 가지고 있는 국내의 여러 도시에서 기획하는 야간경관계획에서 대학은 계획의 대상에서 제외되어 있으며, 대학 캠퍼스 자체의 기획에서도 야간경관계획은 도시적인 맥락과 대학 구성원들의 활동을 고려한 심도 있는 분석에 바탕을 두기보다는 주요 건축물과 광장, 조형물을 드러내거나 길을 ‘밝히기’ 위한 목적에 머물러 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 비판적 의식에서 대학 캠퍼스의 야간경관을 조성하기 위한 공간적 이슈를 밝히고 적합한 대안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 전북지역의 가장 규모가 큰 대학인 원광대학교와 전북대학교 캠퍼스를 대상으로 사례조사연구를 수행하였다. 구체적으로 두 대학의 야간경관 현황에 대한 조사와 학생들의 현재 캠퍼스 야간 경관 평가를 통해 두 대학의 야간경관의 특성을 도출함과 동시에 학생과 캠퍼스의 야간경관 사이의 관계와 현재 학생들의 야간경관에 대한 요구를 분석하였다. 또한, 현재 대학 캠퍼스의 야간경관의 형태를 조사하고 학생들을 위한 안전하고 신뢰할 수 있는 야간 캠퍼스 환경을 조성하는 방법에 대해 논의했다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫 번째, 대학 캠퍼스 야간경관계획에서 야간은 단순한 하나의 밤 시간대가 아니라 캠퍼스 건물의 배치와 학생 활동, 주민 지원 공간 등을 고려하여 시간대별 계획이 필요하다는 것이다. 그 이유는 시간대별로 공간적 활용과 활성화되는 장소가 상이한 것에 있다. 두 번째, 야간경관의 의도에 따라 캠퍼스의 주요 동선계획을 야간에는 낮 시간대와 다르게 할 수 있다는 점이다. 실제로 야간시간에 캠퍼스 내 도로 이용은 낮 시간대보다 일부 도로에 더 집중되는 경향이 있었으며, 학생들은 캠퍼스 이동 시, 야간경관이 더 우수한 캠퍼스 도로를 통행로로 선택하는 경우가 많았다. 세 번째로 캠퍼스의 야간경관과 캠퍼스 공간에 대한 만족도는 정비례의 상관관계를 가지고 있었으며 동시에 야간활동의 안정감도 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 원광대학교와 전북대학교의 조사는 야간경관의 안정성, 야간활동을 고려한 사회적 공간의 배치, 학교 브랜드를 높이기 위한 조명의 역할이라는 측면에서 야간 경관 계획의 중요성을 드러냈다. Night scenery is created not only to "light up" the city of night time, but also to create an environment to support safety, the beauty of the city, and people's night activities. Since the university campus is a space with a considerable size in terms of area and floating population, it occupies an important position in the city, and the number is considerable even if it is limited to Korea. However, universities are excluded from the nightscape plan in various cities in Korea, and the plan of the university campus itself is aimed at revealing major buildings, squares, and sculptures or "lighting up" the way rather than based on in-depth analysis considering the urban context and activities of university members. In this consciousness, this study aimed to identify spatial issues and present appropriate alternatives to create a night view of the university campus. And, a case study was conducted on the campuses of Wonkwang University and Jeonbuk Nation University, the largest universities in the Jeonbuk region. Specifically, the characteristics of the two universities' nightscape were derived through a survey of the current status of the nightscape of the two universities and the evaluation of the current campus nightscape, as well as the relationship between students and campus nightscape. In addition, we investigated the shape of the night view of the current university campus and discussed how to create a safe and reliable night campus environment for students. The results of the study are as follows. First, in the university campus night landscape plan, night time is not just a night time zone, but a time zone plan is needed in consideration of the layout of campus buildings, student activities, and resident support spaces. The reason is that the spatial use and activation places are different for each time zone. Second, depending on the intention of the night view, the main movement plan of the campus can be different from the daytime at night. In fact, the use of roads on campus at night tended to be more concentrated on some roads than during the day, and students often chose campus roads with better night views as passageways when moving on campus. Third, there was a direct correlation between the campus's night view and satisfaction with the campus space, and at the same time, it was found that the stability of night activities increased. In addition, surveys by Wonkwang University and Jeonbuk National University revealed the importance of night landscape planning in terms of the stability of night scenery, the arrangement of social spaces in consideration of night activities, and the role of lighting to enhance school brands.
