Purpose: We evaluated the efficacy of an arterial embolization in patients with a renal cell carcinoma. Materials and Methods: We studied 17 patients with a renal cell carcinoma that underwent a transcatheter arterial embolization between 1995 and 2004. We studied the patients' character, performance status(ECOG), tumor location, size, stage, symptoms, cause of embolization, prognosis, and survival rate, as well as the follow up period. Patients were classified into three groups: group(I) consisted of patients where the procedure was performed with an angioinfarction only; group(II) consisted of patients where the procedure was performed with an angioinfarction, followed by additional immunotherapy with interferon; group(III) consisted of patients where the procedure was performed with an angioinfarction, followed by additional immunotherapy with interleukin-2, interferon, 5-flourouracil, 13-cis-retinoic acid and H2-blocker. Results: The patients' ECOG(Eastern Co-operative Oncology Group criteria) scores were 1, 2, 3 and 4 in 2, 6, 6 and 3 patients, respectively. After the transcatheter arterial embolization, symptomatic improvement of the hematuria and pain were observed. All patients had disease progression, with the exception of one stable disease. Group I had a better survival than groups II or III(p=0.036). Conclusions: Transcatheter arterial embolization is a safe treatment for patients with a renal cell carcinoma where an operation is unavailable due to a poor performance status or advanced stage. The procedure may not influence the survival rate, but does improve the symptoms; additional immunotherapy may not improve the survival rate either.

Education should by the way for the prosperity of nation and development of individual. Therefore education should perform the historical mission of the nation and at the same time should improve our individual life. As a matter of fact, we should protect our national interest in the agitating international conditions and perform south-north talks successfully for the unification of our nation, while we should keep up our stability and strive for the development of our country. To accomplish these missions, in our deucation we should emphasize the patriotic spirit and a human nature reserching our national interests. Therefore we should bring up a man who will create a new history for the national restoration. Education should also emphasize the human nature which has the right view of human life, world and philosophy, and we need a man who will perform his duty and right as a member of society in the democratic nation. All the education theories including educational aims and its methods should be drown out of our own natural features for the establishment of a state on the basis of education. In our Korean education, we should forster the patriotic sentiment and protectire spirit for our own culture and also establish our national pride and the spirit of independence, while we should make efforts to forster the spirit of labour and fortitude.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the functional disability and psychological distress, observed in patents with substance use disorder (SUD) and psychosis. Methods: As a multicenter study, 17 patients with SUD and 49 patients with psychosis, participated in this study. All participants were assessed using the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS) as well as the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10). Results: In patients with SUD, functional disability was observed in approximately 8.5%. In the WHODAS total and all sub-scales scores, patients with SUD showed less severe functional impairment, compared to patients with psychosis. However, psychological distress was more severe in patients with SUD, and was at a very high level. This study confirmed that the psychological distress of patients with SUD, had a significant correlation with functional disability of cognition, interacting with others, and participation. Conclusion: In this study, patients with SUD were identified with distinct clinical features, compared to patients with psychosis.
