Vol.34 No.4
Objectives : This study reports a 42-year old female inpatient who visited for recurrent herpes zoster on the right hand and right side of the face on 5 days after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination. She already had 2 times of herpes zoster prior to this outbreak. Methods : During 10 days of hospitalization, both treatments were simultaneously applied to her. For Korean medical treatment, acupuncture, herbal medicine including Sipjeondaebo-tang, and Hominis Placenta pharmacopuncture were mainly used. Collaborating with internal medicine of our hospital, essential medications for herpes zoster including antihistamine, corticosteroid, and acyclovir were administered. To assess symptoms, taking photos and numerical rating scale(NRS) were used. Results : On the 3rd day of hospitalization, erythema on the right hand disappeared. On the 4th day, discomfort arisen by zoster lesions dropped from NRS 8, which was initially evaluated, to NRS 0. Facial lesion also steadily improved. At the moment of discharge, erythema on the right side of oral angle disappeared and mild traces of vesicular lesions remained on the right hand. Conclusions : Considering her medical history, the recent recurrent herpes zoster was suspected as an adverse event of COVID-19 vaccination. Unlike general course of herpes zoster, the skin lesions and discomfort were rapidly improved owing to the collaborated treatment during the 10 days. This study may be the first literature on herpes zoster following COVID-19 vaccination in Korea.
Vibrational energy flow analysis of penetration beam-plate coupled structures
2011 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.25 No.3
This study concerns the transmission of vibrational energy through beam-plate junctions by energy flow analysis, which is an analytic tool for predicting the frequency averaged vibration response of built-up structures in the medium to high frequency ranges. A semiinfinite beam perpendicularly connected to an infinite plate is studied using the wave transmission approach. To calculate the power transmission and the reflection coefficients of the beam-plate junction, compatibility and equilibrium conditions are applied when each wave component is incident on the beam and plate, respectively. Power coefficients are calculated and plotted against frequencies for different dimensions and the directivity pattern of the scattered waves in the plate show close agreement with that of the rigid inclusion as the frequency increases. The results obtained are applied to the finite beam and the circular plate coupled structure, and the energy densities obtained from energy flow analysis show better agreement with analytic solution results as frequencies are increased.
New Report of Two Species of Genus Pentias (Crustacea: Malacostraca: Isopoda) from South Korea
Vol.33 No.2
Two marine isopods, Pentias hayi Richardson, 1904 and P. thompsoni Collinge, 1916 were verified as unrecorded species in South Korea. The genus Pentias is reported for the first time in South Korea. These two isopods were collected from Heuksan-do Island and Ulleung-do Island from South Korea, respectively. We provide descriptions of the diagnostic characteristics, illustrations of two species and their partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (CO1) for molecular characteristics.
New Record of Three Isopod Species (Crustacea: Malacostraca: Isopoda) from South Korea
Vol.33 No.2
Three marine isopods, Symmius yamaguchiensis Shimomura, 2008, Colanthura pigmentata Kensley, 1980 and Synidotea nipponensis Nunomura, 1985 are reported for the first time in South Korea. The family Chaetiliidae, and genera Symmius and Colanthura are new to South Korea. We provide descriptions of the diagnostic characteristics, illustrations of three species and their partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (CO1) for molecular characteristics.
Vol.3 No.1
First Record of Cleantioides planicauda (Crustacea: Isopoda: Holognathidae) from South Korea
2014 Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity Vol.30 No.1
Cleantioides planicauda (Benedict, 1899) has previously been recorded in China and Japan. In the presentstudy, to our knowledge, we report for the first time the occurrence of this species in South Korea. Here, weprovide detailed descriptions and illustrations of the diagnostic characteristics of C. planicauda. Further, forthe first time, we determined the partial sequence of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (CO1)gene of C. planicauda for molecular characteristic. Additionally, we provide a key to the Korean species anddistribution of the genus Cleantioides. As a result of this study, four species of the genus Cleantioides, including C. planicauda, have now been recorded in South Korea.
First Record of Paranebalia longipes (Crustacea: Phyllocarida: Leptostraca) from South Korea
2012 Animal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity Vol.28 No.4
Paranebalia longipes (Willemoes-Suhm, 1875) is cosmopolitan and has been usually found in the algal and sponge debris on the sandy mud substrates. This species can be clearly distinguished from other species of Paranebalia by the presence of serration on posterior margin of pleopods, the number of articles on antennule and antenna, and number of teeth on flange of antennule fourth article. The genus Paranebalia is new to Korea. In this paper, we provide detail descriptions of the diagnostic characteristics and illustrations of the P. longipes. Additionally, type locality and world distribution of the genus Paranebalia are provided.
