Calcium phosphate films were prepared by using a pulsed KrF-laser deposition (PLD) method with a hydroxyapatite target in various ambient gases, such as Ar, O2 and H2O. The influence of the ambient gas on the properties of the deposited films was investigated. The chamber pressure and the substrate temperature were fixed at 0.25 Torr and 600 C, respectively. Calcium-rich amorphous calcium phosphate films were deposited with a low density in Ar due to the preferential resputtering of phosphorus from the growing film. In an O2 ambient, the density and the Ca/P ratio of the films were similar to those of the target. However, the deposited film was amorphous calcium phosphate and did not contain OH. groups. Polycrystalline hydroxyapatite films can be deposited in a H2O ambient because a sufficient supply of OH. groups from the ambient gas is essential for the growth of a hydroxyapatite film.

Calcium phosphate films were prepared by using a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique with a KrF excimer laser (248 nm, 2 J/cm2), and the influence of the substrate temperature on the growth rate and the composition of those films was studied at substrate temperatures ranging from room temperature to 700 C. Sintered hydroxyapatite (HA) was used as the target, and the films were deposited under 0.25 Torr of H2O. The temperature dependency of the erosion of the film by the energetic deposition flux is also discussed. The substrate temperature critically affected the growth rate and the composition of the deposited films. The mass of the PLD calcium phosphate film decreased 8 % with increasing substrate temperature from room temperature to 700 C, and this was explained by enhanced sublimation of the film by the bombardment of the deposition flux at higher substrate temperatures. The Ca/P ratio also gradually increased from 1.7 to 1.9 with increasing temperature because the amount of phosphorus sublimated from the growing film increased more rapidly as compared with the amount of calcium that sublimated. A high density and a strong (300) preferred orientation were also observed at high substrate temperatures.

This paper deals with the use of prepositions in the passives of the six emotion verbs (satisfied, pleased, delighted, annoyed, disappointed, disgusted) known as taking the preposition with. It investigates their regional variations between contemporary British and American English based on the corpora BNC and COCA and diachronic changes based on COHA (1820-2019). It turned out that the preference for prepositions varied between BE and AE, and that the occurrence rates of with also varied across different verbs. From a diachronic perspective, it was found that the use of of has rapidly decreased, while those of about and by increased. This paper argues that ‘democratization’ and ‘grammaticalization’ are the reasons for the increase of about and by, respectively.
