        BONE RESPONSE OF THREE DIFFERENT SURFACE IMPLANTS : HISTOMORPHOMETRIC, PERIO TEST VALUE AND RESONANCE FREQUENCY ANALYSIS IN BEAGLE DOGS

        Statement of problem. The intial stability for osseointegration of implant has been an interesting factor. Especially, in the case of poor bone quality or immediately loaded implant, various strategies have been developed focusing on the surface of materials to improve implant fixation to bone. The microscopic properties of implant surfaces play a major role in the osseous healing of dental implants. Purpose. The aims of this study are to perform a histologic and histomorphometric comparison of the healing characteristics of three different surfaces and the comparison of resonance frequency analysis (RFA) values measured by $Osstell^{TM}$ and perio-test values (PTV) measured by Periotest. Material and methods. A total of 24 screw titanium implants (Dentium Co., Seoul, Korea) with 6mm in length and 3.4mm in diameter, were placed in the mandible of 4 beagle dogs. Implants were divided into three groups following the surface treatment methods: Group I is machined(control group). Group II is anodically oxidized. Group III is coated 500nm in thickness with hydroxyapatite(HA) by ion beam assisted deposition(IBAD) on the anodized oxidization. Bone blocks from 2 dogs were caught after 3 weeks of covered healing and another blocks from 2 dogs after 6 weeks. RFA values and PTV were measured right after insertion and at 3 and 6weeks. Histomorphometric analysis was made with Kappa Image Base System to calculate bone-to-implant contact (BIC) and bone area inside the threads. Pearson's correlation analyses were performed to evaluate the correlation between RFA and PTV, BIC and bone area ratio of three different surfaces at 3 and 6 weeks. Results. 1) In all surface treatment methods, the RFA values decreased and the PTV values increased until 6 weeks in comparison to initial values. 2) At 3 weeks, no significant difference was found from bone-to-implant contact ratio and bone area ratio of three different surface treatment methods(P>0.05). However, at 6 weeks, different surface treatment methods showed significantly different bone-toimplant contact ratio and bone area ratio(P<0.05). 3) In the implants with the IBAD on the anodic oxidization, significant difference was found between the 3 weeks and the 6 weeks bone area ratio(P<0.05). 4) Correlation was found between the RFA values and the bone area ratio at 3 and 6 weeks with significant difference(P<0.05). Conclusions. These results indicate that the implants with the IBAD on the anodic oxidization may have a high influence on the initial stability of implant.

        Breeding of Pink-Colored Big-Lip Phalaenopsis ‘Lovely Angel’

        농촌진흥청 국립원예특작과학원에서는 2017년 빅립 형태의 분홍색계 팔레놉시스 ‘Lovely Angel’을 개발하였다. 2009년 백색 팔레놉시스 P. ‘Timonthy’와 빅립을 가지는 분홍색 P. World Class ‘Big Foot’을 모본과 부본으로 교배하였다. 2013년 생육이 우수하고 화색, 화형, 꽃대수 등 개화 특성이 우수한 ‘09056-12’를 개체선발하여 기내 화경배양을 통해 증식하였다. 2014년부터 2017년에거쳐 1차, 2차 특성검정을 통해 품종의 안정성과 균일성을 확인하여 ‘Lovely Angel’을 육성하였다. 이 품종은 밝고 선명한 보라빛 분홍색(RHS, PVG81C)을 띄며, 줄 무늬를 가지고 있고 설판이 큰 빅립 형태가 특징적이다. 안아피는 형태의 꽃은 길이와 폭이 각각 6.1, 5.6cm이며, 1개의 꽃대에 20.6개의 소화가 착생하여 꽃 수가 비교적 많이 달리고, 꽃대 길이는 31.8cm 이다. ‘Lovely Angel’는 생육시 잎은 반하수로 자라며 길이는 18.7cm, 폭은 6.8cm이다. 신품종인 ‘Lovely Angel’은 소형 분화용으로 이용 가능할 것이다. A pink big-lip Phalaenopsis cultivar ‘Lovely Angel’ was developed by the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration (Korea) in 2017. ‘Lovely Angel’ was derived by artificial crossing between white-colored cultivar P. ‘Timonthy’ and pink-colored flower with big-lip cultivar P. World Class ‘Big Foot’ in 2009. In 2013, 09056-12 was selected as excellent growth and flowering characteristics, such as flower color, shape, and inflorescence number. The first and second characteristic tests were conducted from 2014 to 2017 to evaluate the stability and uniformity, named thereafter as ‘Lovely Angel’. ‘Lovely Angel’ has violet-pink (RHS, PVG81C) flowers with stripes and big purple lips (RHS, PG78B). The incurved florets measure 6.1 and 5.6 cm in length and width, respectively. The number of florets per inflorescence is 20.6, which is suitably large and abundant, and the inflorescence length of ‘Lovely Angel’ is 31.8 cm. The leaves of ‘Lovely Angel’ grow semi-pendulously and are 18.7 cm in length and 6.8cm in width. The new cultivar ‘Lovely Angel’ can be mainly available for small-type potted flowers.

        Breeding of a Pink-Colored Multi-Floral Phalaenopsis ‘Tiny Bell’

        농촌진흥청 국립원예특작과학원에서는 2018년 분홍색계 소 형 호접란 ‘Tiny Bell’을 육성하였다. 2010년 진분홍색 다화 성 소형 품종 Phalaenopsis ‘D07PN16’와 연분홍색 소형종 P. ‘D03PN22’를 모본과 부본으로 교배하였다. 2014년 생육이 우 수하고 화색, 화형, 꽃대수 등 개화 특성이 우수한 ‘10531-53’ 개체를 선발하여 기내 화경배양을 통해 증식하였다. 2014년부 터 2018년까지 1차, 2차특성검정을 통해 품종의 안정성과 균 일성을 확인한 후 ‘Tiny Bell’로 명명하였다. 이 품종은 밝은 보라빛 분홍색(RHS, PVGN80A)을 띄며, 가장자리에 백색무늬 를 가지는 것이 특징이다. 평피기 형태의 꽃은 길이와 폭이 각각 3.89, 4.01cm이며, 총상화서로 분지가 발생한다. 1개의 꽃대에 19.7개의 소화가 착생하여 꽃 수가 많이 달리는 다화 성이며, 꽃대 길이는 28.48cm정도이다. ‘Tiny Bell’은 생육시 잎이 수평으로 자라며 길이와 폭은 각각 13.1cm, 5.3cm였다. 신품종인 ‘Tiny Bell’은 소형 분화용으로 이용 가능할 것이다. A new small-type pink-colored Phalaenopsis cultivar, ‘Tiny Bell’, was released by the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration (Korea) in 2018. ‘Tiny Bell’ was derived in 2010 from crossing P. ‘D07PN16’, multi-floral small-type cultivar with pink-colored flowers, and P. ‘D03PN22’, a small-type cultivar with light pink-colored flowers. In the preliminary selection stage in 2014, the cultivar known as ‘10531-53’ was chosen among 120 individual progenies, based on phenotypic standards such as flower color and shape, inflorescence number, and leaf attitude. The stability and uniformity of the cultivar was confirmed through the first and second characteristics tests from 2014 to 2018, and the cultivar was thereafter named ‘Tiny Bell’. ‘Tiny Bell’ has violet pink (RHS, PVGN80A) flowers with a white edge. The dimensions of the f lowers are 3.89 cm ( length) and 4.01 cm (width). T he i nf ol rescence type is a r aceme with m any flowers (19.7 blooms per inflorescence). The leaves of ‘Tiny Bell’ grow horizontally and are 13.1 cm in length and 5.26 cm in width. This new cultivar of Phalaenopsis ‘Tiny Bell’ is well suited as a small-sized potted orchid.

        향기 있는 황색 소형 호접란 ‘옐로우센트’ 육성

        A new yellow small-type Phalaenopsis cultivar, ‘Yellow Scent’, was developed by the NationalInstitute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration (Korea) in 2017. ‘Yellow Scent’ was derived by artificial crossing between fragrant yellow-colored cultivar P. Brother Sara Gold and P. Gold Tris in 2007. Five months after the cross, mature pods wereharvested and cultured in vitro. Preliminary selection was carried out as ‘07-023-28’ in 2011according to their excellent growth and flowering characteristics, such as flower color, shape, andfragrance. The stability and uniformity of the cultivar was evaluated through the first and secondcharacteristics tests from 2012 to 2017 and named as ‘Yellow Scent’. ‘Yellow Scent’ hasbright-yellow (RHS, Y7A) flowers with a pink center and no spots, and the small-sized floretsmeasure 4.45 and 5.46 cm in length and width, respectively. The number of florets per inflorescencewas 14.9, which was suitably large and abundant. ‘Yellow Scent’ was more fragrant than the maleand female plants, although the pattern of fragrance was different between them. 농촌진흥청 국립원예특작과학원에서는 2017년 황색 소형 팔레놉시스 ‘Yellow Scent’를 개발하였다. 2007년 향기있는 황색팔레놉시스 P. ‘Brother Sara Gold’와 P. ‘Gold Tris’를 모본과 부본으로 교배하였고, 5개월이 경과한 시기에 성숙한 꼬투리를기내에서 배양하여 후대를 획득하였다. 2011년 화색, 화형, 향기 유무 등의 특성검정을 거쳐 ‘07-023-28’ 계통을 개체 선발하였고 선발된 계통은 기내 화경배양을 통해 증식하였다. 2012년부터 2017년에 거쳐 1차 및 2차 특성검정을 통해 품종의 안정성과 균일성을 확인하여 ‘Yellow Scent’를 육성하였다. 이 품종은 반점이 없는 밝고 선명한 황색(RHS, Y7A)을 가지며, 중앙에분홍색을 띄고 있다. 꽃의 길이와 폭은 각각 4.45, 5.46cm로 소형종에 속하며, 1개의 꽃대에 14.9개의 소화가 착생하여 꽃 수가많이 달리는 편이여서 분화로써 볼륨감을 가진다. 향기는 모·부본과 다른 패턴이나 가장 강한 것으로 나타나 유향 품종으로써가치가 있을 것으로 판단되었다.
