        국제지역연구로서 중국학의 방법론에 대한 고찰

        In general, International area studies integrates all the issues including culture, history, politics, and society, focusing on a certain international area like China. Therefore, this study requires comprehensive analysis capability for wide fields such as culture, history, politics, economy etc. about a certain area. Accordingly, when compared to study methodologies requested by single academic category like existing politics, economics, cultural studies, historical studies etc., it would be natural that this requires more comprehensive, interdisciplinary thinking. But limitation of study method in international area studies including sinology has always become an important issue in the study realm - related scholars mainly quoted methodology of existing academic studies because independent study methodology for International area studies is still poor. Due to such limitation of methodology, scholars with critical view in the nations where International area studies including sinology are comparatively active have discussed problems of their academic study, and suggested main issue of limitation as an independent academic studies. In Korea, International area study actively started after middle 1990s, so it can be said that study on its study methodology just actively started. In the body, the author analyzed problems of study methodology in international area studies including sinology discussed until now. Based on its results, the study intended to discuss possibility of study methodology which can overcome issue of study methodology under going and can bring more objective study results, considering integrated and interdisciplinary aspects of international area study.

        Sangkyu Seo. 2007. The Study of Korean Language Education and the Basic Studies. Jounal of Korean Language Education 18-3: 75-97. In this paper, we have discussed some kinds of research fields that the Study of Korean Language Education and the basic studies have connection and some aspects that basic fields are connected to the Study of Korean Language Education. In addition, we have examined what kinds of things are demanded from the basic studies to develop the Study of Korean Language Education. This paper suggests that we need to revise our viewpoints about the identity of the Study of Korean Language Education and the relationship that the Study of Korean Language Education has with the basic studies. The recommendatory point of view could be summarized as followings. First, we should clearly distinguish the differences between the Study of Korean Language Education as an academic purpose and as a practical application. Secondly, the Study of Korean Language Education should be recognized as an integrated work of related basic studies such as Linguistics, Korean Linguistics, Korean Studies and Pedagogics. Furthermore, we need to consider this integrated work as a field that explores the knowledge and methods for the application and as an interpreter among the whole basic studies composing the integrated filed. Third, we should establish the unique characteristics of the Study of Korean Language Education and simultaneously we need to expand the interdisciplinary studies. Fourth, the basic studies constituting the integrated field should set up their goals to be useful to the practical application and do researches to achieve the goal and solve the problems that the Study of Korean Language Education has. Finally, we need to strengthen the informatization of the internal structure of language and the basic studies centering on the basic academic fields that compose the integrated study.

      • "Bioethics Policy" : As a New Interdisciplinary Study

        Bioethics is often called "applied ethics." But the idea of "mechanical or simple application" of traditional ethical theories is wrong. For bioethical issues are so novel and unprecedented that many of them do not give a great help. In addition, "applied ethics" does not reflect interdisciplinary characteristics of bioethics. Bioethical problems require bioethics as an interdisciplinary study to respond to challenges of societal policy-making relevant to them. I argue for "bioethics policy study" as an new interdisciplinary discipline. The reason most of bioethical issues are difficult to be resolved lies in the fact that there are reasonable disagreements. Reasonable disagreement means "disagreement among reasonable persons." What Rawls calls "the burdens of judgment" explains why we have such disagreement. We should accept reasonable disagreement and pluralism as facts of our pluralistic society. While bioethics just tries to give an answer to bioethical issues from its own perspective, bioethics policy study tries to give a societal agreement with respecting and tolerating various reasonable comprehensive doctrines and perspectives. Thus the main research question of "bioethics policy" as a study is "how can we make policies on ethical issues to which answers are elusive and often conflicting among individuals consisting of a society?" Interdisciplinary studies in bioethics policy are important in that they have to deal with fundamental questions to each discipline relevant to bioethics policy. Bioethical issues require us to reconsider fundamental philosophical and/or theological questions modem philosophers avoided and may lead philosophy to a new project. Bioethical issues also raise the question "What is the role of law in ethical issues?" for law. I argue that an interdisciplinary study is meaningful when it stimulates each discipline involved, I emphasize "spiral development of interdisciplinary studies."

        4차 산업혁명 시대 융합교육의 구현 방안 모색 -지역 기반 융합교육 모델을 중심으로

        This research aims to estimate the potential of interdisciplinary education that traverses the discipline of natural science, computer technology, literature and social studies. Besides, it attempts to integrate various technologies of 4th industrial revolution with interdisciplinary studies, and to examine the ways of developing, sharing and spreading educational methods and contents that may be applied to the fields of education. More specifically, this research suggests three models of interdisciplinary education studies, as well as overall framing of connection between the three models. The first model deals with technology based interdisciplinary education where various educational methods integrated with 4th industrial revolution technology can be applied. Meanwhile the second model deals with Jeju local based interdisciplinary education which is focused on educating global citizenship, excavating examples of local based interdisciplinary studies, and applying them to local community. Finally, the third model deals with narrative culture based interdisciplinary education that aims to develop interdisciplinary teaching methods and educational contents that traverse disciplines of ‘science and literature’, ‘literature and social studies’, and ‘local culture and literary/social studies.’ 이 연구는 과학, 컴퓨터, 문학, 사회 교과의 울타리를 넘나드는 융합교육의 실천적 가능성을 가늠하고, 4차 산업혁명 기술을 학제 간(interdisciplinary) 융합교육에 접목하며, 교육 현장에서 효과적으로 활용할만한 융합 교육을 위한 교수법 및 교육콘텐츠를 개발, 공유, 확산하는 방안들을 검토해보고자 한다. 구체적으로, 세 유형의 융합교육 모델을 제시하고 세 유형의 융합교육을 다시 연계시키는 융합교육의 전체 구도를 제시하고자 한다. 첫째, 과학-컴퓨터 학제 간 융합 연구를 포함하여 4차 산업 혁명 기술을 접목한 교육방법을 중심으로 다양한 테크놀로지 및 네트워크를 응용한 ‘과학기술 기반 융합교육 모델’을 제시해 보았다. 둘째, 교육목표 영역을 중심으로 세계시민교육에 역점을 두면서 지역기반 융합교육 사례를 발굴하고 이를 지역사회에 적용한 ‘제주지역 기반 융합교육 모델’을 제시하였다. 셋째, 교육내용 영역을 중심으로 ‘과학-문학’ ‘문학-사회’ ‘지역문화-문학 및 사회’의 학제 간 융합교육의 교수법 및 교육콘텐츠를 개발하는 ‘서사문화 기반 융합교육 모델’을 제시하였다. 4차 산업혁명 시대 지역 기반 융합교육 및 융합교육 연구의 방향과 구도를 세우는 데 이 연구는 일정한 시사점을 줄 수 있다.

        제주학에서 지역연구의 성과와 전망 : 타 지역학과의 관계 모색을 위하여

        각 지역마다 지역자료의 수집과 번역 및 조사연구 등 지역학의 정립과 발전에 대한 지역사회 내부의 움직임이 한층 가속화되면서 타 지역학과의 관계 모색이 중요해지고 있다. 이 글은 제주학과 호남학과의 관계 모색을 위한 것으로, 1946년 8월 1일 대한민국의 행정법에 따라 도 제도가 생기면서 제주도가 행정구역상 전라도에서 분리되기 이전 시기, 특히 해방 전후시기까지의 제주도 지역에 대한 조사연구 성과를 살펴봄으로써 향후 제주학에서 지역연구의 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 검토 결과, 최근 사회사와 생활사, 문화사에 대한 관심의 고조, 세계화와 지방화 흐름 속에서 제주도 지역에 대한 조사연구가 활성화되었음에도 불구하고, 여전히 연구대상 시기와 분야 면에서 집중현상이 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있다. 제주학과 호남학의 관계 설정과 관련해서는 제주도 지역의 근대사 연구에서 호남지방사와 연관시켜 접근한 연구는 거의 없는 실정이다. 제주도와 전라도는 타 지역에 비해 지리적 거리의 근접성, 특히 한반도의 타 지역과 교류할 때 가장 많이 애용한 전통적 바닷길과 가장 근접한 연안이었다는 사실 등을 감안할 때 문화적 교류가 왕성하게 이루어졌을 가능성이 있다. 따라서 제주학과 호남학 간 조사연구교류는 양자 모두의 학문적 심화에 도움을 줄 것이다. 이률 위해서는 연구여건의 조성이 중요한데. 팀워크를 조직하는 것도 중요하다. 동일 학문분야간 혹은 인접학문과의 연관성 속에서 학제 간 팀워크를 통한 제주도 지역조사연구는 명실상부한 제주학의 정립은 물론 호남 지역자료의 수집과 정리, 나아가 제주학의 발전에도 일정하게 기여할 수 있으리라고 본다. While taking a position of local study, such as collection, translation, investigation research, etc. of local data, and the motion inside the community to development are further accelerated for every place region, the related grope with other local study is important. This paper is a thing for a related grope with the Jeju study and the Honam study, While Do(道) system arose by the South Korean administrative law on August 1, 1946, before Jeju Island dissociated by administration zone of Jeolla-do, it was going to grope for the direction of area studies in Jeju study by examining investigation research result on Jeju-do area. Although the investigation research to the Jeju Island was activated in a rise of the concern about social history, a life history, and cultural history, in globalization, and a localization flow, it turns out that there is a limit decided as usual in the time for research and a field side. If involved with a related setup of the Jeju study and the Honam study, most researches which were made connected with the Honam history and approached by modern history research of the Jeju Island area are the actual condition which is not. When the fact that Jeju Island and Jeollan-do were the traditional seashore road regularly used when interchanging with the approachability of geographical distance and other areas of especially a South Korean peninsula compared with other areas, and the coast which approached most etc, was taken into consideration, cultural exchange may have been realized flourishing. Therefore, the investigation research exchange between the Jeju study and the Human study, it will help each other for academic enhancement each other. For this, reclamation of research situation is important. it is also important but to organize teamwork. It is concluded that the Jeju Island area investigation research through the systematization of the interdisciplinary teamwork which leads can contribute so that development of the Jeju study in development of collection and arrangement of the Honam area data in a link with the field of the same study or adjacent study.

        [역사고고학] 토대 구축과 지평 확대

        The study aimed to exploring direction of future study. To this end, performances of study in Korean historical archaeology progressed during 2012~13 were arranged. Study in historical archaeology during recent two years showed characteristic of construction of foothold and expansion of horizon. Relics excavated throughout the whole country were systematically arranged and work to reinforce foundation of study was progressed. On the other hand, based on this, new study theme was sought and study to add new viewpoint was carried out. As before, excavation of relics was made by professional firm for excavation survey. Many among researchers who published thesis in the academic world were ones belonged to the firms. Among relics excavated, tombs of A.D. 4~6th century still account for much portion. Materials of 1~3rd century increased considerably. In the Yeongnam area, tombs accounted for comparatively higher portion except for Gyeongju. In Hoseo and Honam areas, community accounted for comparatively higher portion. One of new pursuit disclosed in recent study was that attempt to find man and society was on the sharp rise, going beyond study on relics themselves. In addition, it draws attention that interdisciplinary study with ancient historical studies circle is on active going.

        지역연구의 종합성, 학제성과 한국의 MENA지역 연구

        Area studies began long ago on a travel diary but today area studies which is characterized by practicality, synthesis and integration, interdisciplinary, consilience germinated during World War I and began to become a major study at U.S.A. in the postwar period. Area studies began at the level of ‘practicality and utility , which required synthesis, interdisciplinary, convergent and consilience research. At the academic level, however, there has been a debate over academic hegemony between the disciplines(division studies) and area studies. After a fierce debate, there is a convergence between ‘the methodology of division studies’ and ‘the regional specificity of area studies’. Korea s MENA area studies began in 1980 with the publication of the Korean Journal of Middle East Studies, and it began to grow into a practical and interdisciplinary discipline from the 1990s, with the support of area research by the government and the establishment of ‘a graduate school of international and area studies’ in universities. However, when analyzing the papers published in the KJMES, some purpose has been achieved, but there are still insufficient aspects in terms of research methods called ‘area studies’.

        빅데이터와 유럽연구: 사회 및 의미연결망 분석 사례를 통한 융합연구의 가능성 고찰

        Over the last two decades, the international area studies in Korea have grown significantly in terms of the number of related university departments, researchers and institutions. However, such growth is limited to the specific areas of focus, such as East Asia, America and possibly Europe. It seems that there has been a long way to achieve the substantive growth of international and area studies in Korea. To accomplish this task, an interdisciplinary approach and innovative research methodology are essential. This study aims at reviewing the overview of applied research cases of social and semantic network analyses. Also, it examines the possible contributions to empirical studies and suggests possible points of improvements. It reviewed three representative cases: 1. British political campaign about Brexit, 2. Sentiment regarding Greek anti-austerity protests and 3. South Korean perceptions of the EU. These cases were useful in looking at information diffusion and communication discourses between political powers and the general public. This methodology will be useful to implement interdisciplinary research between politics and communication studies. However, to overcome the weakness of quantitative research, more in-depth and substantial interpretations should be added. In the future, data science will contribute to the growth and development of international area studies in terms of promoting the interdisciplinary approach and drawing helpful and creative insights for the research community. However, for the substantive growth of international area studies, more diverse data science methodology should be applied other than social and semantic network analyses. Also, the tertiary institutions could consider developing some modules on big data analytics or data science-based social research. Furthermore, the members of academic societies should pay more interests and attention to the settlement of interdisciplinary approaches in the field of international and area studies.

        섬 관련 연구의 주요대상과 연구특성에 대한 연구 -메타분석과 계량서지학적 분석을 중심으로-

        Various research topics and scientific or systematic research methodology make it possible to improve and enhance the richness of research. These days the consilience research of a particular study domain is more important. Thus, appling bibliometric analysis and meta-analysis to find out the characteristic of interdisciplinary and convergent approach is known to be an effective methodology. This study analyzes the study of Korean island through bibliometric analysis and meta-analysis in order to examine meta-data, which includes research trends, researcher characteristics, and key words. The Korean Association of Island has published their journal thirty-five times, and researched some islands related with various topics since 1989. This journal holds an unique and valuable view towards field survey, synthetical study, and centralized research. Such distinctions ensure that the Journal of Korean Island holds a important stand in Korean island studies. The 266 source articles are all papers published from 2001 to 2011 by the Journal of Korean Island. The result of this study shows that the number of co-researcher and the ratio of co-researched papers have increased. According to the keyword based on meta-analysis, topics of recent research have been well balanced and diversified. However, there are still some structural and editorial problems. Thus additional debate on this issue is required and revision is necessary. Results from meta-data and bibliometric information gathered in this study will help create guidelines. The guidelines will carry out further rigorous research and enhance the quality of research regarding Korean island study. It will also provide significant proof for the need and importance of Korean island studies.

        불교 사회복지 연구 동향에 관한 분석 : 1990~2016년에 게재된 국내외 학술지 논문을 중심으로

        이 연구는 불교 사회복지의 정체성 형성과 발전을 위해 불교 사회복지가 초점화해야 할 연구 방향과 과제를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 국내외 학술지에 게재된 논문 중 국내 논문 12편, 국외 논문 10편 총 22편을 대상으로 연구문제, 적용된 불교사상 및 실천원리, 연구대상, 연구 방법, 사회복지실천 개입방법의 5가지 분석틀을 가지고 내용분석을 실시하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 국내 연구는 다양한 불교사상과 실천원리를 불교 경전에 기반 하여 그 근거를 제시한 논문이 대부분이었고, 국외 연구는 이것을 경험적으로 규명해낸 기존 연구 결과를 이론적 배경으로 활용한 경우가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 연구 방법에 있어 국내 연구는 문헌 연구(9편)가 대부분이었고, 국외 연구는 경험적 차원에서 입증하고자 하는 실증적 연구(8편)가 대부분을 차지하였다. 개입방법에 있어서는 국내외 연구 모두 다양한 사회복지 대상자와 분야에 대한 개입 방안을 제시하고 있지만, 국내 연구는 이것을 경험적 결과로 제시하지는 못하였다. 그리고 국외 연구도 실증적 방법을 통해 연구 결과들을 제시하고 있지만, 이러한 결과들이 아직까지 학문적으로 충분히 축적되지는 않은 상황이라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 기반으로 그동안 사회복지 실천 영역에서 종교 중립 원칙에 따라 그동안 배제되어온 불교의 방대한 사상과 실천원리가 다양한 현대 사회문제를 해결하는 유효한 대안이 될 수 있다는 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 불교 명상 이외의 불교 사상과 실천원리를 활용한 다양한 연구 주제에 대한 시도를 확대하고 사회복지 증거기반 실천을 실행할 수 있는 질적・양적 연구가 경험적으로 강화될 필요가 있다는 것을 제언하였다. This study aims to present directions in advancing interdisciplinary studies on Buddhism and social work by critically reviewing 10 international and 12 Korean studies found via keyword search of “Buddhism/Buddhist” and “Social Work/ Welfare.” We performed the content analysis using the five analytic frameworks; the target problem, the Buddhist thought and practice, the target populations, research methods, and social work interventions. This review found out distinctive differences between domestic and overseas studies. Specifically, we found more conceptual studies in Korea, which attempted to understand how the Buddhist thought and practice could be applied in social work areas as an intervention. In contrast, overseas studies were more likely to empirically examine whether the Buddhist thought and practice function as a method of intervention with substantial samples. Although both Korean and international studies included diverse problems in the areas of social work, they could not explain systematic and concrete intervention processes and methods. Most of international studies performed empirical studies, but their evidence is still deficient. This research shows that the Buddhist thought and practice such as meditation could be one of alternative social work interventions in light of diverse empirical and theoretical trials. Based on these findings, we suggest that interdisciplinary studies on Buddhism and social work should be more encouraged in an empirical manner of qualitative and quantitative ways in order to guide evidence-based practice in Korean social work practice.
