      • 다 속성의사결정 방법을 이용한 자체생산 및 외주 결정모델

        This paper is concerned with the make-or-buy decision model for manufacturing systems. For the purpose of considering the multi-attribute in the decision making, We used two-step approach such as : in the first step, we used the multi-attribute analysis method using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) and in the second step we used fuzzy set ranking methodologies to integrate the special decision problems; those of multi-objective, multi-criterion, and multi-attribute. We have proposed a procedure for the comparative judgement and priority for make-or-buy decision and also for the optimal resource allocation. First the rank-ordered priority lists of the projects are determined based on the AHP, then the aggregate fuzzy set rank order was computed. Finally, we have developed a systematic and practical program for simple and easy calculation of all the algorithms. It is found that the model validated by comparative computations in various make-or-buy example problems in manufacturing system.

      • KNOWLEDGE RETENTION, TECHNOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE, & SOURCING DECISIONS IN THE RADICAL TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE CONTEXT

        Given the contradictory arguments and findings within the knowledge-based view(KBV) literature regarding the impact of a buy or make sourcing decision on performance in the face of technological change, this study attempts to provide hints as to under what conditions one particular sourcing strategy would be preferred over another by considering the in-house retention of knowledge regarding outsourced components and prior exploratory technological experience. In investigating the U.S. bicycle industry, we found that when technology radically shifts, firms pursuing a buy strategy while retaining knowledge regarding outsourced components in-house were likely to improve technological performance to the extent that they outperformed firms pursuing a make strategy. Moreover, the more prior exploratory technological experience firms possessed when pursuing a make strategy, the more likely they were to improve technological performance to the extent that they outperformed firms pursuing a buy strategy. these findings are believed to contribute to a clearer understanding of the inconclusive and conflicting empirical results of the extant KBV Literature regarding the buy or make sourcing decision.

      • 다-속성분석방법을 이용한 학교급식의 교내/외주결정방법

        Recently school food service operations are confronted with the wide spread pressures for accountability and the need to increase productivity. This paper is concerned with the make-or-buy decision framework for school food service systems considering the multi-attributes in the decision making. For the purpose of considering the multi-attributes analysis method in decision making for the school foodservice, we developed a make-or-buy decision framework using the multi-attribute analysis method, analytic hierarchy process, AHP method for school food service system. Finally, we developed a systematic and practical solution builder for a three-step decision support system in the view of brainstorming for the idea generation, analytic hierarchy process, AHP as a multi-attribute structure ed analysis method, and aggregation logic model to integrate the results of reviewers. We developed web based program and applied it to a school foodservice problem.

        Strategic decision on the execution of national security improvement project is greatly important for the present and future national security. Though, the importance of strategic decision, decision making process has been executed under one-way thinking framework. This research provides a decision-making tool with make-or-buy approach for the national security improvement policy execution methods: foreign purchase and military R&D project, and, via simulation, confirms dynamic change of military capability index respect to change in ratio of foreign purchase and military R&D. A result shows that current ratio of foreign purchases and military R&D is insufficient for national security improvement policy goal. Applying the model from this research provides an appropriate ratio for short term and long term defense strategy and policy goal, and consequent result of increase in national security capability. Thus, this research model can be effectively utilized for national security improvement project.

        We propose a composite make or buy decision model considering both the transaction cost theory and the resource based view in the Korean defense industry using System Dynamics. We analyze relationship between core variables(transaction frequency, technological uncertainty, the level of technological dependency, technological level and acquisition ability for market information) and ``Make or Buy decision`` focused on technological innovation capability. Based on the result, we propose the implications as follows : First, the defence industry needs more R&D investment. Second, it needs a balance between domestic(Make) and overseas(Buy) to increase the technological capability rapidly.

        다단계 생산과정에서 손익분기분석 기반의 경제적 제조,구매 의사결정

        본 연구에서는 다단계 생산과정에서 경제적인 제조.구매를 위한 최적 의사결정방법에 대해 논의하였다. 고정비와 변동비, 그리고 생산량을 고려한 손익분기분석을 기반으로 경제적 제조.구매를 위한 수리모형을 설계하고 최적해 도출을 위한 해법을 제시하였다. 제시된 방법에서는 연속되는 생산과정의 각 단계별 비용비교를 통해 부적정해를 파악하고 생산단계를 통합함으로서 총 생산비가 최소화되는 손익분기 생산량 분석을 가능하게 해준다. 수치예제에서는 두 가지 사례를 통해 제시된 수리모형의 효율성을 검증하였으며, 각 사례별 경제적 생산단계와 함께 총 생산비 관점에서 발생할 수 있는 리스크를 비교하였다. 이를 통해 경제적인 제조 및 구매계획 설정은 물론이거니와 계획생산량과 손익분기점, 그리고 생산비용에 따른 최적 생산단계 설정이 가능하게 되었다. This paper discussed an economic make-or-buy decision problem in multistage production processes. Based on break-even analysis reflecting the demand changes, we proposed a new solution procedure considering a disqualified plan which is known as the worst solution among feasible solutions as well as a consolidation of production stage to find an optimal solution. For formulation, we first assumed production stages are serial, and each stage has input(material or intermediate component) and output(product). Second, there are many intermediate components which can be fabricated or assembled internally, or are purchased from outside suppliers. Last, total production volume is depends on market conditions. We verified and showed clearly the efficiency, usability and comparative loss by a numerical experiment. It is an effective supporting tool for the manager, to respond, and to adapt to the demand changes leading to a controlling production volume.

        기업들의 완전자율주행 기술 개발 전략: 자체개발과 아웃소싱 전략을 중심으로

        Fully autonomous driving(FAD) is the technology that is expected to change the whole dynamics of automotive industry. To realize FAD, autonomous driving system whose technological components of various fields are highly integrated is required. Here, firms developing FAD face the problem of make-or-buy decisions for core technological components which affects firm’s competency and the possibility of commercialization of FAD. In this paper, through collection of patent applications data, news articles, and secondary literatures, FAD artificial intelligence(AI), AI computing hardwares, sensors, and vehicle-related technological components are defined as core technological components. Among those four technological components, FAD AI is the most important technological components which lot of the firms develop as their own. Firms that lack of technological knowledge to develop their own FAD AI system use acquisition, equity investment, and joint venture to obtain related knowledge. In developing FAD system, there are two different approaches: the continuous approach which try to reach level 4 by developing the current level 2~3 AI incrementally, and the discontinuous approach which believes new AI apart from current driver-assisting AI that take over everything the driver was doing in current vehicle is required for FAD.

      • Strategic Make or Buy Decision Methodology for Achieving Competitive Advantage

        Make or Buy decision is becoming increasingly important as firms are globalized with branch plants around the world. In most cases, the decision making mainly depends on the cost analysis in terms that how we can make the products cheaper. However, for gaining company’s future compatibility, it is needed to consider not only cost aspect but also technology aspect and product operation ability from a company view. In this sense, previous researches mentioned importance and factors of the technological and operational aspect theoretically, but they are insufficient to apply the Make or Buy decision process in practice. Therefore, this paper describes a systematic methodology for Make or Buy decision to achieve company’s competitive advantage. The proposed methodology consists of three perspectives: technological, financial, and operational perspective. A case study of Company A, home appliance manufacturer, is performed to prove the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
