        Identification of a sensitive urinary biomarker, selenium-binding protein 1, for early detection of acute kidney injury

        <P>Acute kidney injury (AKI) is associated with increased mortality rate in patients but clinically available biomarkers for disease detection are currently not available. Recently, a new biomarker, selenium-binding protein 1 (SBP1), was identified for detection of nephrotoxicity using proteomic analysis. The aim of this study was to assess the sensitivity of urinary SBP1 levels as an early detection of AKI using animal models such as cisplatin or ischemia/reperfusion (I/R). Sprague-Dawley rats were injected with cisplatin (6 mg/kg, once i.p.) and sacrificed at 1, 3, or 5 days after treatment. Ischemia was achieved by bilaterally occluding both kidneys with a microvascular clamp for 45 min and verified visually by a change in tissue color. After post-reperfusion, urine samples were collected at 9, 24, and 48 hr intervals. Urinary excretion of protein-based biomarkers was measured by Western blot analysis. In cisplatin-treated rats, mild histopathologic alterations were noted at day 1 which became severe at day 3. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (SCr) levels were significantly increased at day 3. Levels of urinary excretion of SBP1, neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and a tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) were markedly elevated at day 3 and 5 following drug treatment. In the vehicle-treated I/R group, serum levels of BUN and SCr and AST activity were significantly increased compared to sham. Urinary excretion of SBP1 and NGAL rose markedly following I/R. The urinary levels of SBP1, NGAL, TIMP-1, and KIM-1 proteins excreted by AKI patients and normal subjects were compared. Among these proteins, a marked rise in SBP1 was observed in urine of patients with AKI compared to normal subjects. Based upon receiver-operator curves (ROC), SBP1 displayed a higher area under the curve (AUC) scores than levels of SCr, BUN, total protein, and glucose. In particular, SBP1 protein was readily detected in small amounts of urine without purification. Data thus indicate that urinary excretion of SBP1 may be useful as a reliable biomarker for early diagnosis of AKI in patients.</P>

      • 가토에서 일측 요관 부분 및 완전폐색시 신장과 요관의 조직학적 변화

        This study was designed to clarify histologic changes in the experimental rabbit kidney and ureter after unilateral partial or complete ureteral obstruction. A total of 20 adult white rabbits were divided into 4 subgroups in the partial obstruction followed by 2 weeks, the partial obstruction followed by 4 weeks, the complete obstruction followed by 2 weeks, and the complete obstruction followed by 4 weeks. The normal control group was consisted of 5 adult white rabbits. The kidneys and ureters for light microscopy were fixed in 10% neutral formalin, embedded in paraffin and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Abnormal histologic fingings showed in ipsilateral kidney and ureter of all subgroups(such as dilatation of uriniferous tubule, focal necrosis and desquamation of epithelium, interstitial fibrosis, glomerular congestion, widening of Bowman's space, dilatation of ureter, epithelial cell atrophy or loss, interstitial fibrosis and interstitial inflammation). These findings were most severe in the group of the complete-obstructed ureter for 4 weeks. No significant changes showed in contralateral ureter of all subgroups. The degree of obstruction was severe and period of obstruction was long, the histological changes in ipsilateral side were severe. Despite of changes in ipsilateral side no abnormal findings showed in contralateral side. We suggest that long term experimental investigation of histologic changes in ipsilateral side and compensatory changes in contralateral side have to be studied.

        Thermal Expansion Behavior of Thermally Expandable Microspheres Prepared by Suspension Polymerization Using P(AN-MMA-MAA) Core/Shell

        Thermally expandable microspheres (TEMs) have widespread industrial applications. In this study, high heat resistant and largely expandable TEMs have been synthesized by suspension polymerization. Microspheres were prepared with acrylonitrile (AN) as the main monomer. Initial thermomechanical analysis of TEMs containing AN and methyl acrylate (MA) showed good thermal expansion, leading to the investigation of the polymerization using various monomers at variable weight ratios. TEMs with co-polymer AN, methyl methacrylate (MMA), and methacrylic acid (MAA) were investigated for the first time. They displayed wider heating range and larger expansion rate than the microspheres with MA monomer. The effect of varying amounts of monomer ratios on the thermal expansion behavior is discussed.

      • 부산지역에서 고려수지요법의 인식과 이용실태

        The purpose of this study is to examine current recognitions and applications of Koryo Hand Therapy that is now prevailed in this nation. For the purpose, the author made a questionnaire survey to 227 people who experienced the therapy and 179 having no experience of the therapy. The surveyed subjects were all residents of Busan. The survey results showed that Koryo Hand Therapy was most frequently used by people in 5th dedicate or over. Those who experienced the therapy had more recognition and expectations about the treatment than those who didn't expehence it. Such recognition and expectations were most influenced by the age level. Families and relatives were a main source of information about Koryo Hand Therapy. Most of the subjects referred themselves to the therapy in accordance with recommnendations by others around them. In most cases, the therapy was applied in combination with hospital treatment. Most of the subjects used Koryo Hand Therapy 2 or 3 times a week for not longer than 3 months, especially the therapy with acupunctures. Most of people surveyed here used only one of the ways of fhe treatment. The study subjects were very sadsfied with therapeutic and preventive effects of the therapy. Most of them intended to receive the treatment again and recommend it to others. No side effect was recognized as the strongest point of Koryo Hand Therapy. In conclusion, those who experienced Koryo Hand Therapy had more recognition and expectation and more positive attitudes about the therapy. Thus Koryo Hand Therapy needs to be actively informed and more easily approached by people.

        This study has been conducted to find the ammonium ion exchange characteristics of the natural zeolite with various regenerants and repeated regeneration. As the Na* concentration of the regenerant was increased, the desorption rate of ammonium ion was increased. After repeated regeneration with the regenerant as NaCl, the ion exchange efficiency and the desorbed NH₃-N concentration was gradually increased. Conclusionally, NaCl as regenerant showed the reversible desorption and ion exchange, but another was insufficient as regenerant.

      • 고효율 소형 변압기의 제조와 전자기적 특성

        평면 코어와 평면 코일로 이루어진 평면 변압기를 설계 및 제조하여 입출력 신호에 대한 전·자기적 특성을 조사하였다. 자성체의 평면두께가 증가할수록 와전류에 의한 손실이 증가하기 때문에 코일의 저항은 증가하였고, 인던턱스는 두께가 1.4㎜까지 평면두께가 증가할수록 큰 폭으로 증가하였으며 그 이후 2㎜까지는 거의 일정한 값을 나타내었다. 공심과 자심에서 1차 코일과 2차 코일의 교류저항은 주파수 증가에 따라 증가하여 200㎑ 부근의 변곡점을 기존으로 저항의 증가폭이 크게 증가하였다. 1차 코일과 2차 코일의 성능지수는 각각 158, 75로 높은 값을 나타내었고, 결합인자 k는 0.96∼0.97 범위로 주파수 증가에 따라 비교적 일정한 값을 나타내었다. We designed and fabricated the planer transformer with a planar core and flat coil. Electromagnetic characteristics were investigated for the confirmation of application possibility. The resistance(R_dc) for conductor increase in proportion to the core plane because of eddy current loss, also, the inductance rapidly increases, as the thickness of core plane has increased to 1.4㎜ but there was no substantial change in the range of thickness 1.4㎜ to 2㎜. The resistance(R_ac) for the 1st and 2nd coils increased with frequency and the degree of increase significantly changed at 200㎑. The quality factor for each coils showed quite a high value of 158 and 75 respectively and the coupling factor was unified as frequency has increased at the 0.96∼0.97 range.

      • 유도결합 플라즈마를 이용한 PZT 박막 식각특성에 관한 연구

        졸-겔 법을 통해 PZT 박막을 2500 Å을 정착하였고 열처리를 통해 페로브스카이트 상을 얻었다. ICP 장비를 이용하여 Ar(20)/??/?? 가스 조합에 따른 플라즈마에서 기판 온도를 변화시키면서 PZT식각을 수행하였다. 가스 조건으로는 Ar/??:20/80, 기판온도는 80℃, 소오스 파워 500 W, dc 바이어스 전압은 -300 V, 반응로 압력 200 mTorr에서 PZT대 TR과 Pt의 식각 선택비는 각각 0.9, 3.9를 각각 얻었고, PZT 식각속도는 2450 A/min을 얻었다. ?? 가스는 상온에서 응결하므로 공정 반응로까지 이어지는 가스관에 정온 코일을 감아주기 때문에 가판온도을 올리기 전에 이미 데워져 있기 때문으로 여겨진다. 그러나 식각속도는 증가하였다. 이는 B와 BCl의 라디칼이 O와 결합하여?? 그리고/또는 ??의 휘발생 물질을 생성하여 metallic Pb, Zr, Ti가 표면으로 많이 노출되어 Cl 라디칼과 결합이 용이하기 때문에 식각속도가 증가한다고 판단된다. 또한 /?? 가스조건과 80°이상의 식각 프로파일을 얻었다. In this study, PZT etching was performed using plannar inductively coupled Ar(20)/??/?? plasma. The etch rate of PZT film was 2450 Å/min at Ar/?? gas mixing ratio and substrate temperature of 80℃. As increasing content of ??, the selectivities of PZT to Pr and PR increase linearly, and are directly proportional to substrate temperature in less than amount of 50% ??. However, at the condition over 50% ??, the etch rate of PZT have no dependence on the substrate temperature. The selectivities of PZT to Pt and PR were 3.9 and 0.9, respectively at the Ar(20)/??(80) gas mixing ratio and the substrate temperature of 80℃. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis for film composition of etched PZT surface was utilized. The chemical bond of PbO is broken by ion bombardment and Cl radical, and the peak of metal Pb in a Pb 4f narrow can begins to appear upon etching. As increasing additive ?? content, the relative content of oxygen decreases rapidly, in contrast with etch rate of PZT thin film.       • 소집단 협동미술활동이 유아의 정서지능 발달에 미치는 효과

        본 연구는 소집단 협동미술활동이 유아의 정서지능을 향상시키는데 효과가 있는지 살펴보고자, 함께 완성하기와 자료 나누기 등 소집단 협동미술활동을 경험한 유아들과 개별 미술활동을 한 유아들간에 정서지능 향상에 차이가 있는지 알아 보았다. 그 결과 본 연구에서 실시한 소집단 협동미술활동은 유아의 정서지능을 증진시키는 데 효과적이었다. 따라서 유아기에는 유아간에 효과적인 상호작용이 이루어지도록 두 명 이상의 소집단을 구성하여 협동하며 학습할 수 있는 미술활동이 필요하며, 이러한 소집단 협동미술활동을 통해 유아기 때부터 정서지능이 신장될 수 있는 학습이 되어야 한다. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Small-Group Cooperative Art Activity on emotional intelligence. The effectiveness of the Small-Group Cooperative Art Activity was evaluated by the emotional intelligence checklist in the Kindergarten. Participants were forty Kindergartners randomly divided into two groups: experimental group and controlled group. In the experimental group, Small-Group Cooperative Art Program were carried out twice in a week for 12 consecutive weeks. In the controlled group, the regular art activities of Kindergarten program were carried out. The emotional intelligence of the participating children were measured before and after the experiment. The data were analyzed by paired t-test and independent t-test. Major findings were as follows: First, the program affected children’s emotional recognition and expression, emotional regulation and motivation in self. Second, Small-Group Cooperative Art Program affected children’s emotional recognition and empathy in others, relationship and social skill significantly. This result showed that Small-Group Cooperative Art Activitiy contributed to children’s emotional intelligence and development.

        順天大學 松光 演習林에 分布되어 있는 木本植物의 種類를 調査한 結果 다음과 같다. 1. 演習林에 分布되어 있는 木本植物은 51科92屬126種22變種으로 總 148種임을 알수 있었다. 2. 天然林에는 참나무類가 群集되어 있었다. 3. 特히 히어리가 群落을 形成하고 있었다. Suncheon National College Forest is located Seungjy-Gun in Cheonnam Do: more specifically located 34°59′30″-35°20′30″N, 127°10′15″-127°12′30″E. The forest covers are an area of 165. 59ha. This investigation was accomplished one month and the results obtained were as follows: 1. The grown in the College Forested of 51 families, 92 geners, 126 species, 22 varieties, so that the totaling were 148 texa. 2. There were Quercus association in the forest. 3. Among the 4 blocks (Jelte Valley) were cooupied with Corylopsis coreana Nakai, and the part of the other block were occupied with osk.
