Optimal Zonotopic Kalman Filter-based State Estimation and Faultdiagnosis Algorithm for Linear Discrete-time System with Time Delay

        Zi-Xing Liu,Zi-Yun Wang,Yan Wang,Zhi-Cheng Ji 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2022 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.20 No.6

To manage the state estimation and fault-diagnosis problem of linear discrete uncertain systems with time delay, a state estimation and fault-diagnosis algorithm based on an improved zonotopic Kalman filter is proposed under the assumption that the process interference and measurement noise of the systems are unknown but bounded. First, zonotopes are used to contain the nonzero initial conditions of the system with time delay, and an optimal zonotopic Kalman filter is designed by using an iterative replacement method to determine the relationship between the current time and the delayed time. Subsequently, the optimal observer gain of the optimal zonotopic Kalman filter is designed by minimizing the size of the zonotopic sets to estimate the state sets. Next, the fault occurrence is detected by determining whether the true output value of the system is within the upper and lower bounds of the estimated output value, and the fault identification process is completed by the matching probability of the fault type. Finally, the fault-diagnosis of a numerical system, and the pitch system of a wind turbine are used as examples to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method for systems with time delay by analyzing the fault diagnosis results. A comparison with a normal fault-matching method indicates that the proposed fault-diagnosis algorithm is more rapid in fault identification.

Gender Role Attitudes and Values toward Caring for Older Adults in Contemporary China, Japan, and South Korea: Evidence from a Cross-sectional Survey

Yan Zi,Song Chengcheng 서울대학교 사회발전연구소 2021 Journal of Asian Sociology Vol.50 No.3

The twenty-first century witnessed dramatic changes in family structure, demographics, and values in East Asian societies. However, little is known about how gender role attitudes influence values toward caring for older adults among contemporary East Asian societies. By using individual-level data from the 2012 China General Social Survey, the 2012 Japan General Social Survey, and the 2012 Korean General Social Survey, this study sheds light on how adult children (aged 20-60) think about caring for older adults in a context of changing family structure, demographics, and social norms. Binary logistic regression estimation results reveal that, first, compared with Japan, traditional filial piety was less eroded in China and South Korea. Second, gender role attitudes play a significant role in adult children’s values toward caring for older adults, especially among Japanese adult children; maintaining traditional gender role attitudes would intensify adult children’s familial filial piety. Third, compared with men, women are less likely to prefer individual and family as caregivers for their older parents.

      • Implementation of online model updating with ANN method in substructure pseudo-dynamic hybrid simulation

        Yan Hua Wang,Jing Lv,Yan Feng,Bo Wen Dai,Cheng Wang,Jing Wu,Zi Yan Chen 국제구조공학회 2021 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.28 No.2

Substructure pseudo-dynamic hybrid simulation (SPDHS) is an advanced structural seismic testing method which combines physical experiment and numerical simulation. Generally, the key components which display nonlinearity first are taken as experimental substructures for actual test, and the remaining parts are modeled in simulation. Model updating techniques can be effectively applied to enhance the model precision of nonlinear numerical elements. Specifically, the constitutive model of the experimental substructure is identified online by the instantaneously-measured data, and the corresponding numerical elements with similar hysteretic behaviors are updated synchronously. Artificial neural network (ANN) can recognize the system which cannot be represented by definite numerical model, and thus avoids the structural response distortion caused by the inherent numerical model defects. In this study, a framework for online model updating in SPDHS with ANN method is expanded to implement actual test validation. Moreover, the effectiveness of ANN method is demonstrated by practical tests of a two-story frame model with bending dampers. Additionally, the unscented Kalman filter technique and offline ANN identification approach are both examined in the test validation. The experimental results show that, under the identical loading history, the online ANN method can significantly reduce the model errors and improve the accuracy of SPDHS.

Research on the Use Behavior of BIM Information Technology in the Context of Smart City Construction

        Yan-Yan Li,Zi-Yang Liu,Mei-Ying Niu 사회혁신기업연구원 2023 혁신기업연구 Vol.8 No.2

With the development of the new round of technological revolution, the intelligent city construction background, vigorously promote the intelligent construction of this innovative development model has become inevitable. In particular, the use of new BIM technology in the construction industry can realize the management of the whole life cycle of the project, thus improving the overall productivity and management level of the construction industry. However, the adoption and utilization of BIM in the construction industry is still low at this stage, which seriously hinders the construction and development of smart cities. So effectively grasping the reasons for the poor utilization of information technology in the construction industry has become a key concern for the construction industry. Based on this, this study takes a user resistance perspective to explore the factors influencing employees' usage behaviors by using Chinese construction workers as the respondents. The results show that there is a significant relationship between perceived switching costs, perceived switching benefits and dispositional resistance to change and a negative relationship between dispositional resistance to change and adoption intentions, and verify that negative emotions mediate the relationship between perceived switching costs, perceived switching benefits and dispositional resistance to change. In-depth analysis of the formation mechanism of user boycott is helpful for managers to formulate targeted preventive measures and then accelerate the construction of smart cities.

      • Serum Pleiotrophin Could Be an Early Indicator for Diagnosis and Prognosis of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Du, Zi-Yan,Shi, Min-Hua,Ji, Cheng-Hong,Yu, Yong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.4

Aims: Pleiotrophin (PTN), an angiogenic factor, is associated with various types of cancer, including lung cancer. Our aim was to investigate the possibility of using serum PTN as an early indicator regarding disease diagnosis, classification and prognosis, for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: Significant differences among PTN levels in patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC, n=40), NSCLC (n=136), and control subjects with benign pulmonary lesions (n=21), as well as patients with different pathological subtypes of NSCLC were observed. Results: A serum level of PTN of 300.1 ng/ml, was determined as the cutoff value differentiating lung cancer patients and controls, with a sensitivity and specificity of 78.4% and 66.7%, respectively. Negative correlations between serum PTN level and pathological differentiation level, stage, and survival time were observed in our cohort of patients with NSCLC. In addition, specific elevation of PTN levels in pulmonary tissue in and around NSCLC lesions in comparison to normal pulmonary tissue obtained from the same subjects was also observed (n=2). Conclusion: This study suggests that the serum PTN level of patients with NSCLC could be an early indicator for diagnosis and prognosis. This conclusion should be further assessed in randomized clinical trials.

Genetic analysis of roots and shoots in rice seedling by association mapping

        Yan Zhao,Cong‑hui Jiang,Rashid Muhammad Abdul Rehman,Hong‑liang Zhang,Jinjie Li,Zi‑chao Li 한국유전학회 2019 Genes & Genomics Vol.41 No.1

The vigorous shoots and roots help to improve drought resistance and post-transplanting recovery in rice seedlings (Oryza sativa L.). Hundreds of loci related to root system have been identified recently, but little research has been done on shoot traits, and the relationship between roots and shoots development is also still unclear. The objective of this study was to identify associated loci for roots and shoots in rice seedlings as well as to screen pleiotropic QTLs involved in coordinated development of roots and shoots. Using mini core collection of 273 cultivated rice accessions and 280 simple-sequence repeat markers, we investigated six traits [root length (RL), root thickness (RT), root weight (RW), shoot length (SL), shoot weight (SW) and ratio of root-to-shoot mass] in seedlings. Study was performed in hydroponic medium and genetic analysis was performed by association mapping using general linear model (GLM) with population structure (Q) and mixed linear model (MLM) involving Q and familial relatedness (K). Two subgroups indica and japonica showed significant differences in RT, RW and SW. Maximum correlation was observed between RW and SW. Using GLM 65 QTLs for root and 43 QTLs associated with shoot traits were detected. Among them, seven QTLs were present between RL and RW and five common QTLs were detected between SL and SW with high phenotypic variation effects (PVEs). Two key pleiotropic QTLs were also identified involved in collaborative development of roots and shoots in rice seedlings. Importantly, 17 and 10 QTLs were identified for root and shoot traits respectively in both studies of GLM and MLM. More common QTLs with high PVEs between root and shoot traits suggested that longitudinal growth (RL and SL) played an important role in accumulation of biomass (RW and SW). Considering the obvious phenotypic differences and fewer common QTLs between indica and japonica, we suggested that there could be different mechanisms of seedling development between both subpopulations. Key pleiotropic QTLs and QTLs identified for root and shoot traits in both studies of GLM and MLM could be preferentially used in marker-assisted breeding for strong rice seedling.
