        혈액질환 환자에서 조혈모세포 이식과 화학요법 후의 침습성 진균감염의 분석

        목적 : 조혈모세포 이식이나 화학요법을 받은 혈액질환 환자에서 침습성 진균감염의 양상을 분석하고 예후 인자를 정하기 위하여 이 연구를 실시하였다. 방법 : 2000년 3월부터 2001년 2월까지 가톨릭 조혈모세포이식센터에 입원한 318명의 환자들 중 진균 감염으로 의심되어 항진균제를 투여받은 122명의 환자를 대상으로 후향적 분석을 실시하였다. 결과 : 74명의 환자가 EORTC/MSG 기준에 의해 침습성 진균증으로 판정되었다. 이들 중 6명이 확진이었고, 46명이 추정, 22명이 가능 증례이었다. 가장 많이 침습된 장기는 하부 호흡기이었다(72/74). 사망률은 32.4%이었다. 단변량 분석으로 예후 인자를 도출한 결과 입원 기간, 진단까지 걸린 시일, 그리고 amphotericin B의 총 투여량이 유의한 인자로 나왔다. 그러나 다변량 분석을 시행한 결과 입원 기간만이 독립적으로 유의하게 영향을 미치는 예후 인자로 산출되었다. 결론 : 침습성 진균 감염은 현재도 조혈모세포 이식이나 화학요법 후의 중요한 합병증으로 작용하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 진균 감염 합병증의 예후에 영향을 미치는 요소로 입원 기간이외에 진단의 신속성과 항진균제의 투여도 유의한지에 대해서는 후속 연구를 통해 재치 규명해야 할 것으로 생각된다. Background : Invasive fungal infections (IFI) are one type of representing total infections in compromised patients. To analyze the characteristics and to determine the prognostic factors of IFI in patients with hematologic diseases undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and/or chemotherapy. Methods : We retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients (n=122) who received antifungal treatment with the impression of fungal infection complicating post-HSCT or chemotherapy from March-2000 to February-2001. Results : Seventy-four out of 122 registered patients belonged to the IFI on the basis of EORTC/MSG criteria. Six patients were proven IFI, 46 were probable, and 22 were in the category of possible one. The most commonly involved organ was lower respiratory tract (72/74). The mortality was 32.4%. Univariate analysis revealed duration of hospitalization, days to diagnosis of IFI, and total amount of amphotericin B as significant prognostic factors. But multivariate analysis determined only duration of hospitalization from these variables as an independently influencing factor on the prognosis. Conclusion : Invasive fungal infection is still the major threatening complication of HSCT and chemotherapy. Further follow-up and extension of this study is necessary to elucidate more prognostic factors.

        The Effects of Paid Family Leave on Corporate Social Responsibility

        Purpose - The objective of this research is to investigate how lowering labor market frictions for female workers affects corporate social responsibility (CSR). Design/methodology/approach - We utilize the staggered adoption of state-level Paid Family Leave (PFL) acts in the U.S. These acts provide significant flexibility for female employees by mandating paid leave for a family or medical events. Our study is based on a sample of 30,027 publicly traded firms in the U.S. from 1991 to 2012. We employ a difference-in-differences research design, considering treated firms as those headquartered in states that enacted PFL laws. Findings - We find that there is a significant increase in the firms’ CSR performance following the adoption of the PFL, suggesting that lowering the labor market frictions for female workers encourages firms to invest in CSR initiatives. Research implications or Originality - This study informs policy makers that PFL enables firms to reduce costly employee turnover and results in an increase in CSR performance.

      • Generation of cd63-deficient zebrafish to analyze the role of cd63 in viral infection

        The tetraspanin superfamily proteins are transmembrane proteins identified in a diverse range of eukaryotic organisms. Tetraspanins are involved in a variety of essential biological functions, including cell differentiation, adhesion, migration, signal transduction, intracellular trafficking, and immune responses. For an infection to occur, viruses must interact with various cell surface components, including receptors and signaling molecules. Tetraspanin CD63 is involved in the organization of the cell membrane and trafficking of cellular transmembrane proteins that interact with many viruses. In this study, the cd63 gene was characterized by studying its expression and function in a zebrafish model. The functional domains and structural features of Cd63, such as the Cys-Cys- Gly (CCG) motif in the large extracellular loop and cysteine residues, are conserved in zebrafish. We confirmed that cd63 was expressed in immune system organs, such as the axial vein and pronephric duct, during the embryonic development of zebrafish. To better understand the role of cd63 in the zebrafish immune system, we established cd63-deficient zebrafish lines using the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/ CRISPR-associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9) system. A 19 bp insertion mutation was generated in single guide RNA (sgRNA) target sequence of exon 3 of the cd63 gene, to create a pre-mature stop codon. We then analyzed the expression of cd63-related genes cxcr4a and cxcr4b in wild type (WT) and cd63-deficient zebrafish. We believe our study provides an important model that could be used to investigate the roles of cd63 in viral infection in vivo.

        Development of Genetic Markers for Triploid Verification of the Pacific Oyster, Crassostrea gigas

        The triploid Pacific oyster, which is produced by mating tetraploid and diploid oysters, is favored by the aquaculture industry because of its better flavor and firmer texture, particularly during the summer. However, tetraploid oyster production is not feasible in all oysters; the development of tetraploid oysters is ongoing in some oyster species. Thus, a method for ploidy verification is necessary for this endeavor, in addition to ploidy verification in aquaculture farms and in the natural environment. In this study, a method for ploidy verification of triploid and diploid oysters was developed using multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) panels containing primers for molecular microsatellite markers. Two microsatellite multiplex PCR panels consisting of three markers each were developed using previously developed microsatellite markers that were optimized for performance. Both panels were able to verify the ploidy levels of 30 triploid oysters with 100% accuracy, illustrating the utility of microsatellite markers as a tool for verifying the ploidy of individual oysters.

      • ISO 9000획득 효과요인이 ISO 14000추진 동기요인에 미치는 영향

        ISO 9000 series are the international standards established for quality assurance, and ISO 14000 series are the international standards established of environment management under the basic frame of administration of environmental influence. ISO establishes various standards related to management and company have to adapt themselves to ISO standards. The purposes of this research are that the first finds effect factors of ISO 9000 and motive factors of ISO 14000, the second analyze how effect factors of ISO 90000 influence to motive factors of ISO 14000. In this research, Cronbach's alpha, Factor analysis, T-Test, Multiple regression are used for the analysis. The results of this research are as follows. First, the effect factors of ISO 9000 are found the 3 factors which is factor 1(the business process oriented quality improvement), factor 2 (the productivity improvement and achievement of consumer confidence), and factor 3(the construction for quality system) and the motive factors of ISO 14000 are found the 3 factors which is factor 1(the consumer satisfaction and the competitive advantage), factor 2(the confirmation of confidence of company through environment improvement), and factor 3(the confirmation of company philosophy adapting to overseas trends). Second, the analyzed results of relationship between the factors of ISO 9000 and The motive factors of ISO 14000 is that the effect of ISO 9000 factor 1 influence to the motive of ISO 14000 factor 2 , and effect of ISO 9000 factor 2 influence to the motive ISO 14000 factor 1 and factor 2. Consequently, if company will be propulsive for factor 1 and factor 2 in ISO 14000, will have to start with certification of ISO 9000. However of company will be propulsive for factor 3 for just the conformation of company philosophy adapting to domestic and overseas trends in ISO 14000, company can propulsive ISO 14000 regardless of the certification of ISO 9000.

      • Combined epitaxial self-assembly of block copolymer lamellae on a hexagonal pre-pattern within microgrooves

        <P>The directed self-assembly (DSA) of block copolymers (BCPs) has emerged as an alternative method to replace or complement conventional photolithography as a result of the approximately 10 nm scale of microdomain ordering, the variety of microstructures that can be obtained and its compatibility with current lithographic processes. In DSA, BCP microdomains are controlled <I>via</I> guide patterns and two main techniques are popular: graphoepitaxy and chemoepitaxy assembly. We have demonstrated a simple and feasible technology for a DSA process by combining graphoepitaxy with “inexpensive” chemoepitaxial assembly to improve the alignment of the lamellar microdomains. For chemoepitaxial assembly, the hexagonal surface patterns from cross-linkable, cylinder-forming BCP were used to guide the graphoepitaxial assembly of the overlying BCP lamellar film. When the guiding patterns were prepared on the hexagonal patterns, it was found that the degree of lamellar alignment was significantly improved compared with the lamellar alignment on the homogeneous neutral layers. Simulation results suggested that the underlying hexagonal pattern can assist the lamellar alignment by reducing the large number of orientation states of the lamellar layers.         <P>We present an analysis of the gravitational microlensing event OGLE-2013-BLG-0102. The light curve of the event is characterized by a strong short-term anomaly superposed on a smoothly varying lensing curve with a moderate magnification A(max) similar to 1.5. It is found that the event was produced by a binary lens with a mass ratio between the components of q = 0.13 and the anomaly was caused by the passage of the source trajectory over a caustic located away from the barycenter of the binary. Based on the analysis of the effects on the light curve due to the finite size of the source and the parallactic motion of the Earth, we determine the physical parameters of the lens system. The measured masses of the lens components are M-1 = 0.096 +/- 0.013 M-circle dot and M-2 = 0.012 +/- 0.002 M-circle dot, which correspond to near the hydrogen-burning and deuterium-burning mass limits, respectively. The distance to the lens is 3.04 +/- 0.31 kpc and the projected separation between the lens components is 0.80 +/- 0.08 AU.</P>
