Effect of By-Product Gypsum Fertilizer on Methane Gas Emissions and Rice Productivity in Paddy Field

Rice cultivation in paddy field affects the global balance of methane (CH₄) as a key greenhouse gas. To evaluate a potential use of by-product gypsum fertilizer (BGF) in reducing CH₄ emission from paddy soil, CH₄ fluxes from a paddy soil applied with BGF different levels (0, 2, 4 and 8 Mg ha<SUP>-1</SUP>) were investigated by closed-chamber method during rice cultivation period. CH₄ flux significantly decreased (p<0.05) with increasing level of BGF application. 8 Mg ha<SUP>-1</SUP> of BGF addition in soil reduced CH₄ flux by 60.6% compared to control. Decreased soil redox potential (Eh) resulted in increasing CH₄ emission through a CO₂ reduction reaction. The concentrations of dissolved calcium (Ca) and sulfate ion (SO₄<SUP>2-</SUP>) in soil pore water were significantly increased as the application rate of BGF increased and showed negatively correlations with CH₄ flux. Decreased CH₄ flux with BGF application implied that SO₄<SUP>2-</SUP> ion led to decreases in electron availability for methanogen and precipitation reaction of Ca ion with inorganic carbon including carbonate and bicarbonate as a source of CH₄ formation under anoxic condition. BGF application also increased rice grain yield by 16% at 8 Mg ha<SUP>-1</SUP> of BGF addition. Therefore, our results suggest that BGF application can be a good soil management practice to reduce CH₄ emission from paddy soil and to increase rice yield.

A case of caseous lymphadenitis (CL) was detected in a native Korean goat without manifestation of superficial nodules but with pulmonary abscesses that were characterized microscopically by granulomatous inflammation consisting of a central necrotic region, peripheral fibrous capsule, and numerous cellular infiltrates with epithelioid macrophages, giant cells, and lymphocytes. Presence of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis was identified by using bacterial isolation and multiplex PCR. In addition, a 43% seropositivity to C. pseudotuberculosis was observed in goats from the same farm. This case highlights the risk of exposure of farmers to the causative agent and the urgent need for national monitoring for CL, a potential zoonotic.

본 연구는 다양화된 고등학교 교육환경을 이해하고, 각 고등학교 유형별로 어떤 교육과정 및 교육프로그램을 운영하고 있는지 파악하여 학생부종합전형 평가 시 이를 효과적으로 반영할 수 있는 방법은 무엇인가에 대한 고민에서 출발하였다. 본 연구는 여러 고등학교 유형 중 현 학교 교육체제가 가지는 문제점을 해결하고 새로운 교육을 모색하고자 대안적인 교육이나 학교형태를 모색하려는 대안교육 실시학교에 주목하고 이의 교육과정을 연구하였다. 대안교육 실시학교들의 특성 및 현황과 교육과정을 분석하였고, 본교 지원빈도, 학교 유형 등을 고려하여 ‘경기대명고등학교’, ‘두레자연고등학교’, ‘글로벌선진학교’ 3개교를 선정하여 각 학교의 교과 및 비교과 교육과정을 조사하여 운영상의 특징을 비교·분석하였다. 본 연구 결과를 통하여 입학사정에서 공정성과 신뢰성을 확보하고 평가의 효율성과 수월성을 제고할 수 있으며 입학전형의 취지에 맞는 잠재력을 가진 우수인재를 선발하는데 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 대안학교의 유형별 교육과정을 조사·분석한 결과를 제시하는 데 있어, 사례가 많지 않다는 한계점이 있다. 앞으로 지속적인 데이터의 축척과 연구가 이루어지기를 기대해본다. This study started from in order to understand diversified educational environments of high schools and the effective ways of being able to reflect when evaluating total screening of student department by figuring out curriculums and programs of each high school by different types. This research studied on resolving the problems which the schools currently have among many types of schools and taking note of the schools that tried to carry our alternative education and types of schools to seek for new educations. And the research analyzed attributes and present conditions of the school which are enforcing alternative educations and considering frequency of supports from the principal school and types of schools etc, studied on comparative analysis of operational features by investigating curriculums of subjects and non-subjects with selecting three schools, ‘Gyoenggi Daemyoung High School’, ‘Doorae Nature High School’, ‘Global Vision Christian School’. Through this study, we suggested consideration of requisites in order to evaluate total screening of student department by researching on types of curriculums of alternative schools but it is expected that accumulating of continuous data and study should be proceeded forward in terms of limitations of lack of cases of volunteers.
