Presently, We have constructed an olig-d(T) primed directional cDNA library from the silkworm Dongchunghacho, an entomopathogenic fungus, of which species is belonging to Paecilomyces tenuipes Jocheon-1. To isolate and screen genes in the fungus, 626 expressed sequence tags(ESTs) were generated by a partial sequencing from the cDNA library. Paecilomyces tenuipes Jocheon-1 cDNA encoding the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(Pt-GAPDH) of Paecilomyces tenuipes Jocheon-1 was cloned from the above cDNA library. The complete cDNA sequence of Pt-GAPDHis comprised of 1,014bp encoding 338 amino acid residues. The deduced protein sequence of Pt-GAPDH showed higher homology with Beauberia bassiana-GAPDH(93% amino acid identity). Hydropathy analysis revealed that Pt-GAPDH protein is hydrophilic. The major three amino acids in its composition of amino acid residues were alanine(11.54%), valine(9.47%) and glycine(8.88%). The cDNA encoding Pt-GAPDH was expressed as a 37 kDa polypeptide in baculovirus-infected insect Sf9 cells. The Pt-GAPDH gene of Paecilomyces tenuipes entomopathogenic fungus consisted of three exons and two introns coding for 338 amino acid residues, and the genomic DNA length of the gene spans 1302bp. The accession number of the gene in GenBank are GU997099 for Pt-GAPDH cDNA and GU997102 for Pt-GAPDH genomic DNA.

Fungi belonging to the Paecilomyces spp. have recently been used as food and herbal medicines in Korea and are greatly popular as commercially available powdered supplement or dried fruiting body. Despite this acceptance and its use, little is known of the genes related to its reactive agents. Presently, We have constructed an olig-d(T) primed directional cDNA library from the silkworm Dongchunghacho, an entomopathogenic fungus, of which species is belonging to Paecilomyces spp. based on the previous identification of ITS1 and ITS2 at the molecular level and collected from Jocheon Miryang, Korea. To isolate and screen genes in the fungus, 626 expressed sequence tags(ESTs) were generated by a partial sequencing from the cDNA library. cDNA encoding the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(Pt-GAPDH) of Paecilomyces tenuipes- Jocheon was cloned from the above cDNA library. More investigation works including gene expression, immunological analysis etc. will be carried continuously without hesitation after this presentation.

Objective: Quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) has been increasingly used to evaluate patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between qEEG data and symptom severity in patients with ADHD. Methods: Fifteen patients with ADHD and 20 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited. Electroencephalography was assessed in the resting-state, and qEEG data were obtained in the eyes-closed state. The Korean version of the ADHD Rating Scale (K-ARS) and continuous performance tests (CPTs) were used to assess all participants. Results: Theta-band (4-7 Hz) power across the brain was significantly positively correlated with inattention scores on the K-ARS, reaction times and commission errors on the CPTs in ADHD patients. Gamma-band (31-50 Hz) power was significantly positively correlated with the results of the auditory CPTs in ADHD patients. The theta/alpha (8-12 Hz) and theta/beta (13-30 Hz) ratios were significantly negatively correlated with commission and omission errors on auditory CPTs in ADHD patients. No significant correlations between qEEG relative power and K-ARS and CPT scores were observed in HCs. Conclusion: Our results suggest that qEEG may be a useful adjunctive tool in patients with ADHD.

<P>Lung cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States and Korea. We have previously demonstrated that osteopontin (OPN) induces cell invasion through inactivating cofilin. Inactivation of cofilin is mediated by the FAK/AKT/Rho-associated kinase (ROCK) pathway in human nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. Zerumbone (1) has been shown to exert anticancer activities. In this study, whether and how 1 affects OPN-induced cell invasion was determined in NSCLC A549 cells. Results from Boyden chamber assays suggested that OPN induced invasion of A549 cells and that 1 strongly suppressed this activity without affecting cell viability. Compound 1 effectively inhibited OPN-induced protein expression of ROCK1, the phosphorylation of LIM kinase 1 and 2 (LIMK1/2), and cofilin. In addition, immunofluorescence staining showed that OPN caused a significant increase in lamellipodia formation at the leading edge of cells. However, 1 dramatically decreased OPN-induced lamellipodia formation. Compound 1 impaired OPN-induced phosphorylation of FAK and AKT, as determined by Western blot analysis. Taken together, these results suggest that 1 causes considerable suppression of OPN-induced cell invasion through inhibiting the FAK/AKT/ROCK pathway in NSCLC A549 cells.</P>
Morphological Characters of Panicle and Seed Mutants of Rice
Sang Gu Kang,Devendra Pandeya,Sung Soo Kim,Hak Soo Suh 韓國作物學會 2006 Korean journal of crop science Vol.51 No.4
Phenotypes of panicle, hull and seed of mutant rice (Oryza sativa L.) were characterized. Panicle mutants were classified in 4 groups with their internode length of main rachis, primary rachis, secondary rachis and pedicel. Hull and seed mutants were grouped into 12 based on their mutant characters in shape, size and color of seeds. These natural and spontaneous mutant collections showed distinct phenotypes to wild type rice. This might be useful for the identification of the functions of genetic factors in the Mendelian inheritance.
LINEAR OPERATORS PRESERVING MAXIMAL COLUMN RANKS OF NONNEGATIVE REAL MATRICES
Kang, Kyung-Tae,Kim, Duk-Sun,Lee, Sang-Gu,Seol, Han-Guk The Kangwon-Kyungki Mathematical Society 2007 한국수학논문집 Vol.15 No.2
For an $m$ by $n$ nonnegative real matrix A, the maximal column rank of A is the maximal number of the columns of A which are linearly independent. In this paper, we analyze relationships between ranks and maximal column ranks of matrices over nonnegative reals. We also characterize the linear operators which preserve the maximal column rank of matrices over nonnegative reals.
