비파괴 시험을 위한 3차원 구조의 초음파 영상에는 다양한 결함을 명백하게 보여줄 수 있을 만큼 상세하고 쉽게 알아볼 수 있는 정보가 제공되어야 한다. 수년 동안 원자력 발전소에서 사용된 금속관에 발견되는 소규모의 균열은 전형적인 결함들인데, 이러한 밀리미터 이하의 균열이나 결함은 최종 3차원 영상에서 묘사되어야만 의미있는 검사가 될 것이다. 향상된 선명도와 그에 따른 결함의 발견 과정의 한 단계로써, 펄스에코(pulse-echo) 초음파를 사용한 3차원 영상제작 기술을 제안한다. 이 기술은 필요한 스캐닝과 펄스에코 데이터의 처리과정을 통한 검사로 3차원 물체의 3차원 영상을 생성하는데, 2차원 위너필터(Wiener filter)에 의해 초음파 빔을 선명하게 하는 기술을 포함한다. 제안하는 위너필터는 빔의 전달에서 펄스에코 데이터를 초음파 빔 방향의 수직방향에 따라 필터링한다. 이 3차윈 처리과정은 결함의 선명성을 증진시키고 사용자에게 3차윈 구조물의 좌우 회전 및 축 회전과 같은 조작 능력을 제공한다. 이러한 조작 능력은 3차원에서 다양한 결함들의 크기와 위치의 분명한 묘사를 가능하게 한다. Infrasonic imaging of 3-D structures for nondestructive evaluation must provide readily recognizable images with enough details to clearly show various flaws that may or may not be present. Typical flaws that need to be detected are miniature cracks, for instance, in metal pipes having aged over years of operation in nuclear power plants; and these sub-millimeter cracks or flaws must be depicted in the final 3-D image for a meaningful evaluation. As a step towards improving conspicuity and thus detection of flaws, we propose a pulse-echo ultrasonic imaging technique to generate various 3-D views of the 3-D object under evaluation through strategic scanning and processing of the pulse-echo data. We employ a 2-D Wiener filter that filters the pulse-echo data along the plane orthogonal to the beam propagation so that ultrasonic beams can be sharpened. This three-dimensional processing and display coupled with 3-D manipulation capabilities by which users are able to pan and rotate the 3-D structure improve conspicuity of flaws. Providing such manipulation operations allow a clear depiction of the size and the location of various flaws in 3-D.
QUARTET CONSISTENCY COUNT METHOD FOR RECONSTRUCTING PHYLOGENETIC TREES

Among the distance based algorithms in phylogenetic tree reconstruction, the neighbor-joining algorithm has been a widely used and effective method. We propose a new algorithm which counts the number of consistent quartets for cherry picking with tie breaking. We show that the success rate of the new algorithm is almost equal to that of neighbor-joining. This gives an explanation of the qualitative nature of neighbor-joining and that of dissimilarity maps from DNA sequence data. Moreover, the new algorithm always reconstructs correct trees from quartet consistent dissimilarity maps.

In phylogenetic tree construction the neighbor-joining algorithm is the most well known method which constructs a trivalent tree from a pairwise distance data measured by DNA sequences. The core part of the algorithm is its cherry picking criterion based on the tree structure of each quartet. We give a generalized version of the criterion based on the exact box model of quartets, known as the tight span of a metric. We also show by experiment why neighbor-joining and the quartet consistency count method give similar performance.
여주(Momoridica charantia)열매 추출물의 향균효과 검정

We conducted experiments on the different development stage of Momoridica charantia fruit and different types of solvent, water and 70% EtOH, affect the content of total polyphenol and flavonoid and its antimicrobial activity. The total polyphenol and flavonoid of each extracted solution from Momordica charantia fruit was determinated by colorimetric method. The antibacterial and antifungal activity was studied by paper disc diffusion method and inhibition rate with potato dextrose agar (PDA) respectively. The result, total polyphenol was determinated higher content to 70% EtOH extracted unripe fruit, and 70% EtOH extracted seed hull. Flavonoid concentration was desterminated the highest content to water extracted ripe fruit. The results of the antibacterial activities was showed that water extracted unripe fruit had 43% antibacterial activity against Neisseria gonorrheoae KCTC 2746. While all extracted solution was showed the highest antifungal activity against balck rot's disease. 10 mg/ml of extracted solutions were particularly exhibited an average 40% and over anti-fungal activity. Therefore, the fruit extracts of Momordica charantia possess the effect of biological prevention on the black rot's disease of plant.
손목 관절과 발목 관절 손상 환자의 진단에 있어 응급 초음파의 유용성

Purpose: Ultrasound is of proven accuracy in abdominal and thoracic trauma and may be useful for diagnosing extremity injury in situations where radiography is not available, such as disasters and military and space applications. However, the diagnosis of fractures is suggested by history and physical examination and is typically confirmed with radiography. As a alternative to radiography, we prospectively evaluated the utility of extremity ultrasound performed by trained residents of emergency medicine (EM) one patient with wrist and ankle extremity injuries. Methods: Initially, residents of EM performed physical examinations for fractures. The emergency ultrasound (EM US) was performed by trained residents, who used a portable ultrasound device with a 10- to 5-MHz linear transducer, on suspected patients before radiography examination. The results of emergency ultrasound and radiography and the final diagnosis were recorded, and correlations among them were determined by using Kappa`s test. Results: Thirty-nine patients were enrolled in our study. The average age was 36.6±19.3 years. There were radius Fx. (n=21), radius-ulna Fx. (n=1), ulna Fx. (n=1), and contusion (n=2) injuries among the wrist injury and lat.-med. malleolar Fx. (n=13), lat. malleolar Fx. (n=6), and med. malleolar Fx. (n=3) injuries among the ankle injury. Comparing EM US with radiography, we found the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of EM US for Fx. diagnosis to be 100%, 66.7%, 97.3%, 100% and those of radiography to be 97.2%, 100%, 100%, and 75%, respectively. Kappa`s test for a correlation between the Fx. diagnosis of EM US and the final diagnosis of Fx was performed, and Kappa`s value was 0.787 (P = 0.004). Conclusion: EM US for Fx. can be performed quickly and accurately by EM residents with excellent accuracy in remote locations such as disaster areas and in military and aerospace applications. EM US was as useful as radiography in our study and had a high correlation to the final diagnosis of Fx. Therefore, ultrasound should performed on patients with extremity injury to determine whether extremity evaluation should be added to the FAST (focused abdominal sonography trauma) examination.
