Abstract

The surfactants sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), and dodecyl betaine (DB) are used in graphene and carbon nano-tube (CNT) aqueous solutions, to develop an improved method that increases dispersion, creates long-term stability, and increases thermal characteristics. To evenly disperse the nanoparticles in the base liquid, an ultrasound was applied for 40m. The nanoparticle dispersion of solutions was compared using UV spectroscopy. Zeta potential was used to indicate the colloidal stability of each solution. The thermal conductivities of the nanofluid solutions were measured using a transient hot wire method, and the three different surfactants were compared Good stability and nanoparticle dispersion was observed for nanofluids with surfactants. However, the thermal conductivities of the nanofluid solutions decreased with increasing surfactant concentrations. Carbon-based nanofluids with SDS had better thermal conductivity than nanofluids with other surfactant dispersants. We found the nanofluid has less weight percent of surfactant have better heat transfer than without surfactant. However, DB produced better dispersion than other surfactants, and carbon-based nanofluids with SDBS and SDS have anionic surfactant both had a better stability than nanofluids has amphoteric surfactant DB.

Photocurrent response in few-layered ReS2 devices with short and open circuits

We perform photocurrent measurements in few-layered ReS2 with multiple electrodes using scanning photocurrent microscopy and investigate the photocurrent mechanism of the ReS2 device. In particular, we have investigated how the photocurrent responds to the different configurations of a current-collecting electrode, ground electrodes and floating electrodes. When all electrodes are electrically connected, the circuit is short. If any electrodes are floating, we refer the circuit is open. Remarkably, open-circuit devices show a similar photocurrent response with short-circuit devices. The observed photocurrent is attributed to the electron response to the modulating electric field that is generated by time-varying laser heating. We further show that the observed photocurrent is tunable by gate voltages.

The visibility of automotive is one of the most important factors because it is related to driving accidents. Each part of visibility range is enormous factor in a real driving. In this research, visual behaviors were evaluated on each section (straight, left-turns, right-turns, parking lot, etc.) with an eye-tracker. The percentiles to each range of previous studies and for-area visions were deducted. As the results of this research, the front view of a valid view appeared high percentile in straight sections, right and left turns showed regular percentile in front and side view based on A-pillar.

Objective: This research was conducted for the subjective evaluation with relation to the visibility of vehicle, and proposed an evaluating method for vehicle visibility. Background: The visibility of automotive is one of the most important factors to design a vehicle since a driver obtains most information through vision. Method: We classified domestic and foreign vehicles into four groups by similar properties of visibility, and selected the representative vehicles to evaluate from the classified each groups. Eighteen drivers evaluated the visibility of each vehicle with respect to visual directions (front view, sides view, upper-front view, lower-front view, and rear view) by self-reported assessment. Results: As the results of this research, the front view of the vehicle considerably related to the upper-front and sides view. However, the lower-front view of did not have any influences on the visibility with compared to other visual directions. Conclusion: The relationship between the dimension data of vehicles and the results of subjective evaluation was not always consistent. Application: This research would be valuable to the design of a vehicle reflecting drivers' subjective point of view and proposed a visibility evaluating method.
