OBJECTIVES: We examined the associations of socioeconomic factors, health behaviors, and comorbidities with early-onset lung cancer. METHODS: The study included 6,794,287 individuals aged 20-39 years who participated in a Korean national health check-up program from 2009 to 2012. During the follow-up period, 4,684 participants developed lung cancer. Multivariable Cox regression analysis was used to estimate the independent associations of potential risk factors with incident lung cancer. RESULTS: Older age (multivariable hazard ratio [mHR], 1.13; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.12 to 1.14) and female sex (mHR, 1.62; 95% CI, 1.49 to 1.75) were associated with increased lung cancer risk. Current smoking was also associated with elevated risk (<10 pack-years: mHR, 1.12; 95% CI, 1.01 to 1.24; ≥10 pack-years: mHR, 1.30; 95% CI, 1.18 to 1.45), but past smoking was not. Although mild alcohol consumption (<10 g/day) was associated with lower lung cancer risk (mHR, 0.92; 95% CI, 0.86 to 0.99), heavier alcohol consumption (≥10 g/day) was not. Higher income (highest vs. lowest quartile: mHR, 0.86; 95% CI, 0.78 to 0.94), physical activity for at least 1,500 metabolic equivalent of task-min/wk (vs. non-exercisers: mHR, 0.83; 95% CI, 0.69 to 0.99) and obesity (vs. normal weight: mHR, 0.89; 95% CI, 0.83 to 0.96) were associated with lower lung cancer risk, whereas metabolic syndrome was associated with increased risk (mHR, 1.13; 95% CI, 1.03 to 1.24). CONCLUSIONS: In young adults, age, female sex, smoking, and metabolic syndrome were risk factors for early-onset lung cancer, while high income, physical activity, and obesity displayed protective effects.
Efficient Use of Unused Spare Columns for Reducing Memory Miscorrections

In the deep sub-micron ICs, growing amounts of on-die memory and scaling effects make embedded memories increasingly vulnerable to reliability and yield problems. Spare columns are often included in memories to repair defective cells or bit lines during production test. In many cases, the repair process will not use all spare columns. Schemes have been proposed to exploit these unused spare columns to store additional check bits which can be used to reduce the miscorrection probability for triple errors in single error correction?double error detection (SEC-DED). These additional check bits increase the dimensions of the parity check matrix (H-matrix) requiring extra area overhead. A method is proposed in this paper to efficiently fill the extra rows of the H-matrix on the basis of similarity of logic between the other rows. Optimization of the whole Hmatrix is accomplished through logic sharing within a feasible operating time resulting in reduced area overhead. A detailed implementation using fuse technology is also proposed in this paper.
On Diagnosing the Aging Level of Automotive Semiconductor Devices

<P>Semiconductor aging is a serious threat to the reliability of a system. We address the aging level of semiconductor components by describing the degree of semiconductor aging under certain operating conditions, including voltage, frequency, temperature, and usage rate. Aging level information can be used to follow the real aging rate of a device, predict the remaining life, and control the device performance under certain degradation conditions by balancing the operation of various device components. Such applications can improve the reliability of automotive semiconductor systems, which should have longer lives than mobile systems. In this brief, we present an aging level estimating flip-flop (FF) that can be used for these and other applications as well. Moreover, we can control the operation of the proposed FF by controlling its clock and control signals. We demonstrate an application of the proposed FF for aging-monitoring, showing that, by halting the operation of the proposed FF, the power consumption is significantly reduced compared with other approaches.</P>

The yield of 3D stacked IC manufacturing improves with the pre-bond integrity testing of through silicon vias (TSVs). In this paper, an efficient pre-bond test method is presented based on IEEE std. 1500, which can precisely diagnose any happening of TSV defects. The IEEE std. 1500 wrapper cells are augmented for the proposed method. The pre-bond TSV test can be performed by adjusting the driving strength of TSV drivers and the test clock frequency. The experimental results show the advantages of the proposed approach.

화이트 밸런스 기술을 이용한 소변 검사 결과 영상 판독에 관한 연구

본 논문에서는 소변 검사(urine test) 스틱을 휴대폰 카메라로 촬영하였을 때 자동으로 검사 결과를 알려주는 인공지능 기술 개발을 위한 연구를 소개한다. 소변 검사 결과는 색깔로 상태를 파악하게 되는데, 다양한 조명에서 촬영된 사진은 올바른 색을 표현하지 못하는 문제가 있다. 따라서 어떤 조명하에 촬영된 사진이라도 화이트 벨런스(white balance) 교정을 통해 원래 색을 복원하여 소변 검사 결과를 판독하는 기술을 제안하게 되었다. 이를 위해 화이트 밸런스(White balance) 기술의 개념에 대해 소개하고, 화이트 밸런스와 색 추출을 활용한 영상 처리 알고리즘을 개발한다. 이후 카메라로 촬영만 했을 때의 소변 검사지와 촬영 후 알고리즘을 활용했을 때의 소변 검사지의 색 분포 차이를 통해 알고리즘의 실효성을 검증한다. 알고리즘을 통해 소변 검사의 포도당, 단백질, pH 영역의 조명에 의한 색 변화를 최소화하여 정상을 판별하는 데 큰 도움을 줄 수 있게 된다.

This article attempts to extract headwords for complication of 「Donguibogam Dictionary」 with Corpus-based Analysis. The computerized original text of Donguibogam is changed into a text file by a program ‘EM Editor’. Chinese characters of high frequency of exposure among Chinese characters of Donguibogam are extracted by a Corpus-based analytical program ‘AntConc’. Two-syllable, three-syllable, four-syllable, and five-syllable words including each Chinese characters of high frequency are extracted through n-cluster, one of functions of AntConc. Lastly, The output that is meaningful as a word is sorted. As a result, words that often appear in Donguibogam can be sorted in this article, and the names of books, medical herbs, disease symptoms, and prescriptions often appear especially. This way to extract headwords by this Corpus-based Analysis can suggest better headwords list for 「Donguibogam Dictionary」in the future.
