        High-throughput microscopy (HTM) was developed recently for the automatic detection of airborne asbestos fibers that can cause lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma. The HTM method has been applied to couting the airborne asbestos fibers as an alternative to the conventional phase contrast microscopy (PCM). In this paper, we demonstrated that the HTM enabled us to obtain quantitative results for low-concentration airborne asbestos samples under detection limit, and we made a comparison between the results from HTM and PCM. In addition, a verification study was conducted using proficiency analytical testing (PAT) samples of chrysotile and amosite. The HTM method can be applied to the existing PCM method by reducing analysis time and labors. Potential applications can be extended to detection of asbestos fibers in soil and water.

        중국 마오난족(毛南族) 파왕굿의 민속지적 분석과 꽃과 다리의 상징

        중국 마오난족(毛南族)의 파왕굿은 가·무·악·극 등을 통해 생명꽃밭을 관장하는 파왕신을 좌정시켜 자식을 비는 기자(祈子)굿이다. 파왕굿의 핵심적인 절차는 다리를 가설하여 생명꽃을 구하는 가교구화(架橋求花)이다. 파왕굿에서는 생산적 제의의 목적을 달성하기 위해 ‘음양교(陰陽橋)→음교(陰橋)→첨교(檐橋)→양교(陽橋)’가 순차적으로 가설되며 이러한 일련의 과정 속에 ‘꽃심기(種花)→꽃주기(送花)→꽃따기(采花)→꽃모으기(揽花)’ 등의 절차가 삽입된다. 여기서 ‘꽃’은 인간의 영혼을 상징하는데, 꽃은 열매를 맺어서 씨를 퍼뜨리는 까닭이다. 삼신인 파왕은 ‘동방 목난화(木蘭花), 남방 적연화(赤蓮花), 서방 금전화(金錢花), 북방 수선화(水仙花), 중앙 모단화(牡丹花)’라는 오행원리를 이용하여 화산(花山) 꽃밭을 창조하였으며, 여기서 홍화(紅花)는 딸을, 백화(白花)는 아들을 의미한다. 한편 각양각색의 다리(橋)는 이계(異界)인 ‘생명꽃밭’과 인간세계를 연결시켜주는 통로로 간주된다. 중국 남부지역 민족의 우주관은 세 개의 영역 즉 잉태되기 전 아이가 거주하는 ‘화계(花界)’, 사람이 사는 ‘속계(俗界)’, 그리고 사람이 죽은 후에 가는 ‘음계(陰界)’로 구성되어 있다. 파왕굿에는 이러한 ‘화계-속계-음계’로 구성된 ‘삼계관(三界觀)’이 반영되어 있으며, ‘가교구화’를 통해 화계와 속계의 이음과정이 재현된다. 그러므로 파왕굿에서의 ‘다리놓기’와 ‘생명꽃 구하기’는 화계와 속계를 잇는 제의적 과정이자 그 결과로 이해될 수 있다. 파왕굿은 아이의 출산을 한갓 생물학적 잉태로 여기지 않고 세계의 공간적 이동으로 인식하는 세계관과 생명관에 바탕을 두고 있다. 삼계관에 따라 화계의 생명꽃이 속계로 이동하는 것이 곧 자녀의 잉태이자 출산이라 믿고 있는 것이다. 자연히 죽음은 생명꽃이 속계에서 음계로 이동하는 것이다. 따라서 아기의 잉태를 기원하기 위해 세계의 공간적 이동에 필요한 다리의 가설은 필수적인 굿의 절차이다. 그러므로 파왕굿의 기자 원리는 생물학적 잉태 과정을 공간적 세계의 물리적 이동으로 제의화한 것으로서 유감주술 원리 가운데 ‘유사의 법칙’에 입각해 있다고 할 수 있다. The votive ceremony to Powang of Maonan nationality in China is a sorcery ceremony in which they pray to the fertility goddess in charge of the garden of life through singing, dancing, percussion and acting. The core part of votive ceremony to Powang is the bridge to pray for flowers of life “bridge for flowers”. In order to achieve the purpose of praying for children and children, taoists set up “Yin-yang Bridge, Yin bridge, eaves bridge and Yang Bridge” successively, and interweaved “planting flowers, sending flowers, picking flowers and collecting flowers” ceremony during the bridge building process. In this ritual, the “flower” is the symbol of human life. The goddess of fertility, Powang, uses the five elements principle, namely, planting magnolias in the East, lotus in the south, money flowers in the West, daffodils in the north and peonies in the center to create the “flower Mountain garden”. Red flowers represent girls and white flowers represent boys. The various Bridges erected during the votive ceremony to Powang are seen as pathways between the alien “garden of life” and the human world. There is a universal three-way cosmology among ethnic minorities in southern China. That is, the universe is composed of the “world of flowers” where fetuses are born, the “real world” where human beings live, and the “underworld” where human beings go after death. In the votive ceremony to Powang, bridging for flowers is the ritual process of the space transfer from “the world of flowers” to “the real world” in the ternary cosmology, and the transformation of life form from invisible to visible. The votive ceremony to Powang do not only regard the birthing process of life as a simple biological process. Rather, it is sublimated into a worldview and a view of life transformed into space. On the basis of the universal three-way cosmology among ethnic minorities, the Maonan people borrowed the process of the flower of life in the flower world to move to the real world to show the process of gestation and birth of children. Therefore, death is regarded as the process of the transfer of the flower of life from the real world to the underworld. In order to pray for children and ensure that the flower of life completes the transition of space smoothly, building the bridges have become a necessary part of the votive ceremony to Powang. It can be seen that the principle of praying for the child in the ritual of the Powang is to present the biological pregnancy process with spatial physical movement. The basis of this ritual process is the homeopathic magic.

        Estimating the Effectiveness of Non-pharmaceutical Interventions on COVID-19 Control in Korea

        Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has posed significant global public health challenges and created a substantial economic burden. Korea has experienced an extensive outbreak, which was linked to a religion-related super-spreading event. However, the implementation of various non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs), including social distancing, spring semester postponing, and extensive testing and contact tracing controlled the epidemic. Herein, we estimated the effectiveness of each NPI using a simulation model. Methods: A compartment model with a susceptible-exposed-infectious-quarantined- hospitalized structure was employed. Using the Monte-Carlo-Markov-Chain algorithm with Gibbs' sampling method, we estimated the time-varying effective contact rate to calibrate the model with the reported daily new confirmed cases from February 12th to March 31st (7 weeks). Moreover, we conducted scenario analyses by adjusting the parameters to estimate the effectiveness of NPI. Results: Relaxed social distancing among adults would have increased the number of cases 27.4-fold until the end of March. Spring semester non-postponement would have increased the number of cases 1.7-fold among individuals aged 0–19, while lower quarantine and detection rates would have increased the number of cases 1.4-fold. Conclusion: Among the three NPI measures, social distancing in adults showed the highest effectiveness. The substantial effect of social distancing should be considered when preparing for the 2nd wave of COVID-19.

        Epidemiologic Study of Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 Expression in Advanced/Metastatic Gastric Cancer: an Assessment of Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 Status in Tumor Tissue Samples of Gastric and Gastro-Esophageal Junction Cancer

        Purpose: The Trastuzumab for gastric cancer (GC) trial identified human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) as a predictor of successful treatment with trastuzumab (HER2 receptor targeting agent) among patients with advanced/metastatic GC. To date, the prevalence of HER2 overexpression in the Korean population is unknown. The present study aimed to assess the incidence of HER2 positivity among GC and gastroesophageal (GE) junction cancer samples and the relationship between HER2 overexpression and clinicopathological characteristics in Korean patients. Materials and Methods: Tumor samples collected from 1,695 patients with histologically proven GC or GE junction enrolled at 14 different hospitals in Korea were examined. After gathering clinicopathological data of all patients, HER2 status was assessed by immunohistochemistry (IHC) at each hospital, and IHC 2+ cases were subjected to silver-enhanced in situ hybridization at 3 central laboratories. Results: A total of 182 specimens tested positive for HER2, whereas 1,505 tested negative. Therefore, the overall HER2-positive rate in this study was 10.8% (95% confidence interval=9.3%-12.3%). The HER2-positive rate was higher among intestinal-type cases (17.6%) than among other types, and was higher among patients older than 70 years and 50 years of age, compared to other age groups. Conclusions: Our evaluation of the HER2 positivity rate (10.8%) among Korean patients with GC and GE junction indicated the necessity of epidemiological data when conducting studies related to HER2 expression in GC and GE junction.

        멀티스케일 해석을 통한 히스테리시스 고무 마찰 예측 연구

        This study predicts the ofthe hysteretic friction of a rubber block sliding on an SMA asphalt road. The friction of filled rubber on a rough surface is primarily determined by two elements:the viscoelasticity of the rubber and the multi-scale perspective asperities of the road. The surface asperities of the substrate exert osillating forces on the rubber surface leading to energy dissipation via the internal friction of the rubber when rubber slides on a hard and rough substrate. This study defines the power spectra at different length scales by using a high- resolution surface profilometer, and uses rubber and road surface samples to conduct friction tests. I consider in detail the case when the substrate surface has a self affine fractal structure. The theory developed by Persson is applied to describe these tests through comparison with the hysteretic friction coefficient relevant to the energy dissipation of the viscoelastic rubber attributable to cyclic deformation. The results showed differences in the absolute values of predicted and measured friction, but with high correlation between these values. Hence, the friction prediction model is an appropriate tool for separating the effects of each factor. Therefore, this model will contribute to clearer understanding of the fundamental principles of rubber friction.

        비콘을 이용한 매장관리 모바일 어플리케이션 설계 및 구현

        Currently, the record of part-timer is mainly written in handwriting or using excel work schedule, paper work recorder, and time attendance program using POS program. And, work table, commute records, paycheck are managed separately. Time-attendance information is not linked and is managed separately, and payment of wages is often not done accurately. And, it is difficult to pay the wages because it is not able to accurately grasp the state of attendance of part-timer. Therefore, it is necessary to have a transparent wage and work management system based on the trust between the owner and the part-timer. In this paper, we design a system that can perform real-time commute check using beacon, transparent wage management, wage calculation by automatic calculation, and smooth communication between owner and the part-timer. We have also implemented a store management mobile application using Android Studio 2.3, Eclipse, Android 5.1 and Beacon devices in a MySQL environment.

        비기능적 테스트 기법 중 하나인 볼륨 테스트의 목적은 테스트 대상 시스템이 명세에 정의된 최대 한도까지 자원을 활용하는 환경에서도 안정적으로 동작하는가를 검증하는 것이다. 본 문서는 이런 볼륨 테스트의 대상과 고려사항을 정의하고, 테스트 우선 순위, 테스트 케이스 구조와 볼륨 증가 패턴 및 그 구현 방법을 상위 레벨에서 기술하여, 재활용 가능한 볼륨 테스트 패턴을 제시한다.

        노면 특성을 고려한 고무 마찰 예측 연구

        This paper presents the hysteresis friction of a sliding elastomer on various types of surfaces. The hysteresis friction is calculated by means of an analytical model which considers the energy spent by the local deformation of the rubber due to surface asperities. By establishing the fractal character of the surfaces, the contribution to rubber friction of roughness at different length scales is accounted for. High resolution surface profilometer is used in order to calculate the main three surface descriptors and the minimal length scale that can contribute to hysteresis friction. The results show that this friction prediction can be used in order to characterize in an elegant manner the surface morphology of various surfaces and to quantify the friction coefficient of sliding rubber as a function of surface roughness, load and speed.
