The purpose of this study is to analyze various attitudes towards sports programs. Two-hundred and thirty-one high school students were selected according to a systematic stratified cluster random sampling, and the Self-Administration Method was used for the questionnaire survey. In the collected questionnaire data, those samples which were not reliable were discarded and only reliable data were analyzed, using a PC. In this analysis, tables, percentages, a t-test, and correlation tests were used. The results were as follows: 1. Male students showed a stronger inclination towards sports programs than did female students. 2. High school students showed a higher intensity of immersion than did middle school students. 3. There was no significant correlation between conversation and intensity of immersion. 4. There was a high correlation between inclination towards sports programs and intensity of immersion.

Temperature is the most influential environment parameter which affects the quality change of agricultural products in cold storage. Therefore, it is essential to keep the uniform temperature distribution in the storage room. This study was performed to analyze the air movement and temperature distribution in the forced recirculating cold storage facility and to simulate optimum storage method of green groceries using 3-D CFD(three dimensional computational fluid dynamics) computer simulation which applied the standard κ-ε turbulence model and FVM(finite volume method). The simulation was validated by the experimental results for onion storage and the simulation model was used to simulate the temperature and velocity distribution in the storage room with reference to the change of storage method such as location of storage, no stores, bulk storage, and pallet storage. In case of no stores, internal airflow was circulated without stagnation and consequently air movement and temperature distribution were uniform. In case of bulk storage, air movement was stagnated so much and temperature distribution of onion was not uniform. Furthermore, the inner temperature of onion roses more than the initial temperature of storage. In case of pallet storage, air movement and temperature distribution of onion were so uniform that the danger of quality change was decreased.

Background: Malassezia species play an important role in the pathogenesis of seborrheic dermatitis. In particular, M. restricta and M. globosa are considered to be the predominant organisms in seborrheic dermatitis of Western countries. However, species distribution of Malassezia in seborrheic dermatitis has not been clearly determined yet in Asia. Objective: To identify the distribution of Malassezia species on the scalp of seborrheic dermatitis patients in Korea using 26S rDNA PCR-RFLP analysis. Methods: A total of 40 seborrheic dermatitis patients and 100 normal healthy volunteers were included in this study. For the identification of Malassezia species, the scalp scales of the subjects were analyzed by 26S rDNA PCR-RFLP analysis. Results: The most commonly identified Malassezia species were M. restricta in the seborrheic dermatitis patients, and M. globosa in the normal controls. In the seborrheic dermatitis group, M. restricta was identified in 47.5%, M. globosa in 27.5%, M. furfur in 7.5%, and M. sympodialis in 2.5% of patients. In the healthy control group, M. globosa was identified in 32.0%, M. restricta in 25.0%, M. furfur in 8.0%, M. obtusa in 6.0%, M. slooffiae in 6.0%, and M. sympodialis in 4.0% of subjects. Conclusion: M. restricta is considered to be the most im portant Malassezia species in Korean seborrheic dermatitis patients. (Ann Dermatol 23(2) 156∼161, 2011)

Background/Aims: Interleukin-8 (IL-8) has been reported to play a critical role in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-associated gastric mucosal damage. H. pylori exist in both bacillary and coccoid forms in the stomach. In contrast to bacillary forms, it is not clear whether coccoid forms stimulate gastric epithelial cells to produce IL-8. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of coccoid forms on IL-8 production. Methods: H. pylori strains of ATCC 43504, ATCC 43526 and three clinical isolates were used in the present study. Coccoid forms were induced by culturing bacillary forms of H. pylori for more than 84 hr. After co-culture of two human gastric adenocarcinoma cel lines (KATO III and AGS) with five strains of H. pylori, the levels of IL-8 were determined in th supernatants by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results: The levels of IL-8 in KATO III and AGS cells were markedly elevated up to 6-9 hr after co-culture with the bacillary forms. The IL-8 levels produced in both cell lines by the coccoid forms were significantly lower than those by the bacillary forms in all strains. Conclusions: These results suggest that coccoid forms are much less implicated in IL-8- mediated gastric mucosal damage than bacillary forms.

With the advent of the ‘4th Industrial Revolution’, digitalization using AI (Artificial Intelligence), big data, IoT (Internet of Things), cloud computing and mobile is accelerating across all industries and global companies have fundamentally reorganized customer experiences, business models, and operations centering on digital transformation. Business innovation drives productivity improvement, process simplification, price, competitiveness and sustainable expansion. Whether digital transformation will be necessary for the current industrial environment is no longer important, and how quickly companies achieve digitalization has emerged as the utmost crucial element in industrial continuity. As non-face-to-face and remote technologies have begun in earnest, and accelerated in the pharmaceutical industry. They are looking for ways to provide value, generate profits, improve efficiency, and sustain the future. Compared to other industries, the pharmaceutical-related sectors have shown high interest in digital transformation especially to reduce costs and meet the challenge of delivering products during the pandemic environment.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Myelotoxicity has been shown to be very common in Korean patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) during azathioprine (AZA) or 6-mercaptopurine (6–MP) treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relative risk of the thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) and inosine triphosphate pyrophosphatase (ITPA) genotypes and TPMT activity for the development of leukopenia in Korean IBD patients during AZA/6-MP treatment. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 286 Korean patients with IBD who had been treated with AZA/6-MP for at least 6 months between June 1996 and September 2006. Common TPMT mutations, including TPMT*1, *2, *3A, *3B, and *3C, and ITPA mutations, including 94C>A and IVS2+21A>C, were determined using a high-performance liquid chromatography method. TPMT activity was measured using liquid chromatography with coupled mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry. RESULTS: Leukopenia occurred in 118 cases (41.3%). TPMT *1/*3C was detected in 7 cases (2.4%), and ITPA 94 C>A was detected in 66 cases (23.1%), including 63 heterozygotes (22.1%) and 3 homozygotes (1.0%). The median TPMT activity was 9.3 U/mL (interquartile range 10.4, range 2.1 to 76.2). Cox regression analysis revealed that patients with heterozygous *3C type TPMT had a higher probability of leukopenia than those with wild type TPMT (P=0.02). Patients with intermediate TPMT activity had a lower probability of leukopenia than those with low activity (P=0.01). However, the ITPA genotype did not affect the risk of leukopenia. CONCLUSIONS: Our data showed that it could be helpful to examine TPMT genotypes and to measure TPMT activity in Korean patients taking AZA/6-MP to predict the development of leukopenia.
