The pathobiologic process of arterial stenosis following balloon angioplasty continues to be an enigmatic problem in clinical settings. This study investigates the ability of demethoxycurcumin, a curcuminoid isolated from Radix Curcumae, to attenuate balloon injury-induced neointima(NI) formation in the rat carotid artery. It was found that demethoxycurcumin induced inducible heme oxygenase(HO-1) expression and inhibited dose-dependently cellular proliferation in rat vascular smooth muscle cells. Perivascular application of demethoxycurcumin immediately following injury significantly reduced NI area and NI thickness 2 weeks post-injury. Interestingly, treatment with tin-protoporphyrin IX, a HO inhibitor, reversed the effects of demethoxycurcumin on NI formation. These results implicate demethoxycurcumin as a potent new therapeutic agent that is capable of reducing post-angioplasty arterial stenosis through induction of the HO-1 expression.

The magnetization characteristics of a transformer or a nonlinear reactor is analyzed in this paper. The analytic expression for the dynamic hysteresis loop which is divided into the saturation part and the loss part is expressed using the four term polynominal approximation. The coefficients of this expression are determined from the rms saturation curve and no load loss. The energy expression associated with the dynamic hysteresis loop is modified by introducing the correction factor K. The validity of the proposed technique is verified by the experimental results.

Eight high school games of Rubgy football for the president's cup of Taeku MBC were analized to observe the frequency of the acts of suspension and continuation according to the rules of Rugby football game The acts of continuation (92.25±19.72 times/game) took place more frequently than those of suspension (91.25±9.60 times/game). Among the acts of suspension, the line out, and the drop out occurred more frequently in the first half than in the second half. And these facts were significant statistically (p<0.01)

The Waste Land has been read in may ways. It has, for example, been read as "a pilgrimage, a homosexual love song, a Grail romance, or an elegy to Western culture devastated by the carnage of the First World War." What strikes the reader most, however, when reading the poem, is that it is so much full of the images of death: corpses, bones, and even zombies. We also note that this poem is actually juxtaposing and superimposing various voices of dead poets in the form of allusions. It is quite natural, therefore, for us to ask why there are so many images of death in this poem. One way of answering this question is to approach this poem as a hysterical text. The hysteric is the one who doeS not, and will not, forget his past. The hysteric at the same time wants very badly to forget his past, but he cannot do so of his own will. This kind of ambivalent attitude of the hysteric forces him to repress his desires in his unconscious against his will. These repressed desires, however, will eventually surface as symptoms OF body language. The Waste Land, in a sense, can be read as a hysterical text, in that Eliot's repressed desires appear as symptoms in the poem. In this respect, we can make use of Kristeva's concept of abject in reading this poem. She says that the abject represents the in-between entities which disburb identity, system, order. According to her, the corpse is the utmost of abjection, because death is infection life. Many images of death in this poem can be the representations of the abject in this sense. Repressed desires in the unconscious take the form of death images when they surface as symptoms in the poem. The Waste Land, then, can be looked upon as a ritual of exorcism by way of purgating Eliot's repressed desires. In the process of this exorcistic ritual, dead poets are placated and can find their proper places in the symbolic order of language.

Two kinds of simple active oscillators are proposed and analyzed assuming that operational amplifier has two-poles frequency characteristics. The first circuit is composed of one operational amplifier, one resistor and one grounded capacitor. The second oscillator is realized with one operational amplifier and three resitors. Proposed oscillators have the low sensitivity of the oscillation frequency for little variations of the passive element values. By the experimental results obtained with Op-Amp.?A741, the simple oscillators can be useful for the frequency range 1.25 KHz≤f? ≤400KHz for the active -R ocillator, and it is shown to transform the active-R oscillator circuit into the voltage controlled type.Therefore, two kinds of oscillators circuit are attractive for the IC realization, because they hve one operational amplifier, one resistor and one grounded capacitor, or three resistors.

문화 자본으로 몸값 올리기 : 『오만과 편견』에 나타난 자본

Jane Austin is a great story teller, and the theme of her novels is generally considered to be concerned with the complicated courtship between young women of lower class and men from the affluent class. Readers of her novels, therefore, do not generally expect much except the unravelling of the courtship process. This kind of simplified understanding of her novels, however, is no more than a very superficial interpretation of her novels. The fact that her novels do not very much go beyond the family situations is considerably contrituting to this kind of misunderstanding about the theme of her novels. There is more to her novels than this. Even though Auten mainly describes domestic circumstances in her novels, we should not be fooled into thinking that she is mainly concerned with courtship process in her novels. What I am trying to demonstrate in this essay is that under the seemingly simple and unproblematic descriptions in her novels we could find the complicated and dynamic workings of the capital. We can see this very clearly in her, Pride and Prejudice. In order to understand the role of the capital it is very important to know what Pierre Bourdieu means by habitue and cultural capital. Bourdieu defines habitue as "the system of durable, transposahle dispositions, structured structures predisposed to function as structuring structures." What he means is that habitus is the generating principle of behavior embodied in the unconscious, The habitus, therefore, is the invisible basis of the cultural capital, which Bourdieu maintains is as important as economic capital. Cultural capital can be defined as "the possession of knowledge, accomplishments, formal and informal qualifications by which an individual may gain entry and secure a position in particular social circles." By inheriting the habitus from her father and accumulating cultural capital all by herself, Elizabeth gains acceptance by and eventually marries Darcy, This marriage, however, is not simply a marriage of hearts only. What is important is that Elizabeth has raised the valve of her own meager dowry by cultural capital. Her marriage, in this sense, is also the marriage of capitals: the monetary capital of Darcy and the cultural capital of Elizabeth. The marriage as merger of these two different kinds of capitals makes it economically sound and secure far both parties involved and there is plenty of indication that it will be viable on a sound basis in the future.

3차 Cumulant를 이용한 블라인드 등화 알고리즘의 성능분석

본 논문에서는 고차 통계인 3차 cumulant에 근거한 기존의 블라인드 등화 알고리즘을 개선한 새로운 방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 블럭 단위로 3차 cumulant를 추정하는 현재의 방식과는 달리, 매 샘플 단위로 이를 계산하여 적은 양의 데이터를 가지고도 빠른 수렴속도와 우수한 수렴특성을 보인다. 특히 데이터의 전송 중 채널의 특성이 변하는 Nonstationary 환경에서는 3차 cumulant를 추정하는데 빠른 수렴속도가 요구되고, 따라서 이 경우 제안된 알고리즘은 매우 유용하게 적용될 수 있다. 제안된 알고리즘의 유용성을 검증하기 위하여 컴퓨터 모의실험을 수행하였으며, 선형 시불변이고 비최소 위상을 갖는 채널 모델과 4-ary PAM 신호에 대해 제안된 알고리즘의 우수성을 확인하였다.

『황무지』의 언어 무의식

The Waste Land has been read from different approaches and in diverse ways. The body of criticism on this poem from a psychoanalytic viewpoint, however, is not as copious as that of other approaches. One reason why there is very scanty body of criticism on this poem from a psychoanalytic approach is that Eliot himself has evinced a strong aversion to psychoanalysis. In my opinion, the fact that Eliot himself did not like psychoanalysis will be the stronger reason for us to read it form such an approach. Jacques Lacan's psychoanalytic theory, however, can be a great help in reading The Waste Land in this respect, because Lacanian approach emphasizes the linguistic aspect of the unconscious. The Waste Land is very amenable to the Lacanian psychoanalysis because Lacan basically considers e unconscious to be structured like a language. The poem demonstrates that it is a text of the linguistic unconscious from the beginning by its two quotations-one of the sybil, and the other for Ezra Pound. These two quotations show that the unconscious of the poem is situated at the locus of the conflict between the imaginary and the symbolic. Many gaps in the poem itself prove that this assumption is not far from the truth.
