This study aimed to examine the experiences of newly appointed teachers with visual impairments working at a school for students with intellectual disabilities. It also intended to discover the conflicts they went through in the adaptation process of their teaching profession. To achieve these purposes, this study utilized a qualitative case study methodology based on the theoretical perspective of symbolic interactionism under the constructionist epistemology. The study participants were four newly appointed teachers with visual impairment working at a school for students with intellectual disabilities; they were selected using snowball sampling. To investigate the participants' experiences, they were interviewed and relevant data were collected. Inductive analysis on the collected data was made with the NVivo 11 program. According to the analysis results, newly appointed teachers with visual impairment who worked at a school for students with intellectual disabilities experienced conflicts with other members and their surroundings, consideration and exclusion, conflicts during their classes, hopelessness, and internal conflict, such as identity confusion. The results of this study will provide basic data on policy measures that could improve expertise of newly appointed teachers with visual improvement working at a school for students with intellectual disabilities, supporting their adaptation to the teaching profession.

This study set out to explore ecological teaching procedures to promote the efficient physical activities of children who have visual impairment with other disabilities during physical education classes based on the previous studies on ecology. It also aimed to identify the components and contents of ecological assessments within a classroom environment designed for ecological teaching. It is necessary to apply ecological teaching procedures that take into account the external environmental factors around children with visual impairment as well as the personal factors of children who have visual impairment with other disabilities in order to promote their active participation in PE classes and physical activities. Considerate teaching activities such as these will be able to contribute to the teachers changing their teaching actions, and the changes will in turn encourage children who have visual impairment with other disabilities to take active part in PE classes and more diverse physical activities. That is, a teaching approach from a new perspective called ecological teaching should be applied in order to improve teaching and learning activities and to promote such physical activities as are proper in accordance with the degree of disability and motor skills of children who have visual impairment with other disabilities. Then those children will be able to understand the concepts of movement, establish a right body image, develop interest in physical activities, and have an attitude of taking an active part in PE activities. Those changes will ultimately provide them with the foundation to lead a functionally independent life in their community after completing their school education. There is also a need to develop informal assessment tools using evaluative components following the ecological approach and conduct research to confirm their validity. Such research will produce basic data to promote the efficient physical activity of children who have visual impairment with other disabilities.

In this study, a psychometric test was conducted of an ecological teaching assessment tool that could be applied to physical education classes to facilitate the physical activities of children who had visual impairment with other disabilities. A review of the related literature identified the components of such a tool that should be taken into account when trying to promote the physical activities of those children during physical education classes. The investigator developed specific criteria of the tool to be applied in school and tested the validity and reliability of the items. Thus data were gathered from 104 teachers who taught children who had visual impairment with other disabilities before. Factor analysis was then carried out to examine the construct validity. The analysis results reveal that the ecological teaching assessment tool consisted of 36 items of five factors, which include tasks, teaching, teaching aids, personal environment, and physical environment. As for reliability, the coefficient of internal consistency (Cronbach α) was .969. Judging fromthe factor loading of the tool``s items, the correlation coefficient between each item and the overall points, and the coefficient of internal consistency, the developed ecological teaching assessment tool was valid and reliable. Thus it is expected that when put to use during physical education classes, the tool will serve as a useful material to promote the efficient physical activities of children who have visual impairment with other disabilities. There is also a need to do follow-up studies to monitor such expected effects.

In recent years, solar and wind power have been determined to be the main generation sources of power system. Therefore, it is expected that the power system capacity of RES(Renewable Energy Sources) with volatility will increase. Accordingly, there is a need for system planning, monitoring, and operation of a RES linked power system using precise real-time data rather than conventional SCADA based data. This paper is a part of the development of the real-time monitoring/analysis/control system for the new and renewable power sources installed for the monitoring and analysis of Gangwon region where the grid connection capacity is increasing. First, we briefly introduce the software of GPS-based time-synchro phasor-based monitoring and analysis system installed in Gangwon region. The file processing of the collected PMU data is described. Finally, we will analyze the power system effect of RES linked to Gangwon region using time-synchro phasor data.

In order to reduce blackout recovery time and economic losses, intelligent methods for substation rapidly fault recovery are required. Genetic Algorithm is one of the approaches to solving optimization problems. In this paper, we will study on the fitness function for applying the genetic algorithm for substations recovery. First, the theory(principle) of genetic algorithm is introduced, and then the SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) of the substation is reviewed. A fault recovery algorithm for substation using fitness functions to transformer capacity, DS (Disconnector) switching, transformer and D/L (Distribution Line) is proposed. Finally, the performance of the proposed GA-based fault recovery algorithm is evaluated through several simulation.

The purposes of the study were to scrutinize the experience a new art teacher went through at her beginning stage at a school for the visually impaired and to investigate how she formed and developed her personal and practical knowledge needed for her art class over time. A Narrative method was adopted and one newly appointed female art teacher at a school for the visually impaired participated for the study. The experience she went through at her first school was analyzed through a series of interviews. The results of the study suggest that she began her teaching career experiencing ‘anxiety and fear,’ ‘uncertainty,’ ‘confusion’ and ‘trial and error.’ As time passes by, she made various efforts to improve her classroom instruction. Personal and practical knowledge needed for her career was accumulated as she experienced feelings of ‘certainty,’ ‘confidence,’ ‘interest and fun’ and ‘delight.’ Based on these feelings, she seemed to have found that she felt herself becoming more professionally confident as an art teacher. This study is expected to provide basic data for planning future professionalism enhancing programs for both newly appointed teachers of schools for the visually impaired and new teachers for the common curriculum in special education.

This study was implemented to investigate the status and their needs on life-long education among people with visual impairments and other disabilities. The actual purpose of this study is to suggest ideas to develop the basics of life-long education for people with visual impairments and other disabilities. For this study, a nationwide survey was conducted with 157 teachers at schools for the blind as well as 158 parents of students and graduates with people with visual impairments and other disabilities. The followings are the results. First, only 24% of students have some kind of experiences related to life-long education which have provided at schools and a couple of social welfare centers. However, almost all parents would want their children to participate any kinds of life-long education programs. Second, the highest program of their interests was the vocationally related program. Third, they mostly prefer the duration of programs: 3-6months, the weekly number of times: 3, and the hours of programs: 3. Last, participants realize that problems that must be solved as soon as possible are to develop proper programs for people with visual impairments and other disabilities, to spread out those programs as well as to activate the teacher training programs of life-long education for people with disabilities. Based on those results, the suggestions were presented finally.
