        Evolution is a better term to describe current Korean society than transition. Thus it is difficult to define the whole feature in a sigle term. This is not because our understanding and insight has decreased but the trend is now rapidly changing. Korea has faced a progress in packaging design due to the successof the 1988 seoul Olympics. But this was mainly due to the quantitative growth which has been stimulated by economic factors, not by technological progress. Thus a unoque and creative progress in packaging design can not be expected due to the weakness in technological factors and lack of human resources. We usually think packaging design as a 'graphic design to give visual effect' or an 'effective method to stimulate purchase'. But one must have a thorugh understanding of the interconnected factors in the industry, social trends and consumer trends to develop a reasonabie planning in packaging design. After the industrial recolution, the manufacturing industry transformed itself to a manufacturer's market and this trend changed to consumer's after the financial crisis in 1927. Thus the sale of a product was the most significant factor in mass production and a mass consuming market had to be established in order to enabie mass production. Competition became fierce and studies regrding consumer behavior and marketing strategies was conducted. Consumer purchase motives was the first priority and production methods concerning consumers became more important. Competition became more fierce than ever and distribution was made in a more effective method. Corporations developed various methods to cope with this new method by increasing product quality, packagn design and using a variety of promotion techniques. As a result packaging which only function was to considered to deliver and store a product combined with designing concept and this worked as important factor in changing purchasing actions. Especially, an organized and scientific approach to stimulate consumer's sensitive taste and satisfaction is necessary. Therefore a thorough understanding in the features and changes of packaging methods is an important precondition in studying packaging design in the era of sensitivity. packaging not only serves as a method to store and deliver a product but as a medium of mutual communication. The consumer will select a product which has a more sensitive appearance given that the quality or the service is equal.This pattern emerged with changes in purchasing patterns and changes in industry structures etc. Thue as packaging carries out much more functions than an advertisement promotion, a special study is necessary. Hence chapter 2 in this dissertation describes the changes in consumer consciousness and the definition of modern packaging design. We will describe in chapter 3 the conceptof sensitive packaging design and the changes in packaging designing methods. Also the scope and the concept of this study will be presented. Chapter 4 will describe packaging design in cosmetics based on theories argued in the previous chapters. chapter 5 will describe future straregies concerning packaging design. The main purpose of thisdissertation is to apply packaging design to cosmetics, which a sensitive approach can easily be obserced and to create a new formative factor in Korea's packaging design industry. We hope this study willbe used by many designers and prove to useful.

        Alendronate Enhances Functional Recovery after Spinal Cord Injury

        Spinal cord injury is a destructive disease characterized by motor/sensory dysfunction and severe inflammation. Alendronate is an anti-inflamma- tory molecule and may therefore be of benefit in the treatment of the inflammation associated with spinal cord injury. This study aimed to evaluate whether alendronate attenuates motor/sensory dysfunction and the inflammatory response in a thoracic spinal cord clip injury model. Alendro- nate was intraperitoneally administered at 1 mg/kg/day or 5 mg/kg/day from day (D) 0 to 28 post-injury (PI). The histopathological evaluation showed an alleviation of the inflammatory response, including the infiltration of inflammatory cells, and a decrease in gliosis. Alendronate also led to reductions in the levels of inflammation-related molecules, including mitogen-activated protein kinase, p53, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and pro-inflammatory mediators. Neuro-behavioral assessments, including the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan scale for locomotor function, the von Frey filament test, the hot plate test, and the cold stimulation test for sensory function, and the horizontal ladder test for sensorimotor function improved significantly in the alendronate-treated group at D28PI. Taken together, these results suggest that alendronate treatment can inhibit the inflammatory response in spinal cord injury thus improving functional responses.

        노봉상기정을 투여하여 Olmutinib으로 인한 피부염이 호전된 4기 비소세포성 폐암 환자 1례

        Objective: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Nobongsangki-Jeong on skin rash caused by Olmutinib. Methods: A female Non-Small cell lung carcinoma patient (Adenocarcinoma, Stage IV, Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor positive) suffered from skin rash due to the side effect of Olmutinib administration. She was treated with Nobongsangki-Jeong for the symptom management for 14 days. The clinical outcomes were measured by numeric rating scale (NRS) and National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (NCI-CTCAE) version 4.03. Results: After treatment, skin rash was improved from NRS 5 to 1. Pruritus and pain of skin were improved from NCI-CTCAE grade 2 to 1. Conclusion: This case study suggests that Nobongsangki-Jeong may have the efficacy for the treatment of skin rash caused by Olmutinib.

        Attenuation of Experimental Autoimmune Uveitis in Lewis Rats by Betaine

        Experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU) is an animal model of human autoimmune uveitis that is characterized by the infiltration of autoimmune T cells with concurrent increases in pro-inflammatory cytokines and reactive oxygen species. This study aimed to assess whether betaine regulates the progression of EAU in Lewis rats. EAU was induced via immunization with the interphotoreceptor retinoid-binding protein (IRBP) and oral administration of either a vehicle or betaine (100 mg/kg) for 9 consecutive days. Spleens, blood, and retinas were sampled from the experimental rats at the time of sacrifice and used for the T cell proliferation assay, serological analysis, real-time polymerase chain reaction, and immunohistochemistry. The T cell proliferation assay revealed that betaine had little effect on the proliferation of splenic T cells against the IRBP antigen in an in vitro assay on day 9 post-immunization. The serological analysis showed that the level of serum superoxide dismutase increased in the betainetreated group compared with that in the vehicle-treated group. The anti-inflammatory effect of betaine was confirmed by the downregulation of pro-inflammation-related molecules, including vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 and interleukin-1β in the retinas of rats with EAU. The histopathological findings agreed with those of ionized calcium-binding adaptor molecule 1 immunohistochemistry, further verifying that inflammation in the retina and ciliary bodies was significantly suppressed in the betaine-treated group compared with the vehicle-treated group. Results of the present study suggest that betaine is involved in mitigating EAU through anti-oxidation and anti-inflammatory activities.

        원형 구조 알고리즘을 이용한 근전도 패턴 인식 및 분류

        This paper proposes a pattern recognition and classification algorithm based on a circular structure that can reflect the characteristics of the sEMG (surface electromyogram) signal measured in the arm without putting the placement limitation of electrodes. In order to recognize the same pattern at all times despite the electrode locations, the data acquisition of the circular structure is proposed so that all sEMG channels can be connected to one another. For the performance verification of the sEMG pattern recognition and classification using the developed algorithm, several experiments are conducted. First, although there are no differences in the sEMG signals themselves, the similar patterns are much better identified in the case of the circular structure algorithm than that of conventional linear ones. Second, a comparative analysis is shown with the supervised learning schemes such as MLP, CNN, and LSTM. In the results, the classification recognition accuracy of the circular structure is above 98% in all postures. It is much higher than the results obtained when the linear structure is used. The recognition difference between the circular and linear structures was the biggest with about 4% when the MLP network was used.
