        High level of reliability in facility operation is specifically required these days. The goal of this study is to secure a methodology for reliability analysis of hydro-power plant so that an appropriate decision for operation and investment can be made. Fault tree analysis of water supply system within hydro-power plant has been performed in this study. We briefly examined the electric power generation facility and water supply system. We then developed fault tree for the water supply system based on failure modes and effects analysis. We conclude this study and provided future research areas.

      • 217Plus™을 통한 전자 부품들의 고장률 산출

        Reliability predictions for selected electronic parts using 217-P1us have been performed in this study. 217-P1us has recently developed and may be applied for electronics failure prediction as a surrogate of MIL-HDBK-217. We first briefly reviewed 217UP1us component models. Based on three selected components, predictions using both MIL-HDBK-217 and 217-Plus have been made and the results were compared. Even though the comprehensive conclusion may be drawn from extensive component and system level analyses, the results in this study may provide general insights towards reliability through two specifications.

        Failure rate serves as a pivotal role in reliability study. Of all, the constant failure rate is the most popularly used in field exercises. In reality, however, the electrical and electronic parts' life is represented by not only the constant failure rate but the decreasing and/or increasing failure rates. Explicit consideration and incorporation of them into the model development may yield more desirable results. In this study, we built a reliability model for failure rates varying over time intervals and derived well known measures such as probability density function, reliability function, mean life, moments, and mission time. We then evaluated mean life with consideration of the first-year multiplier and compared the results those with constant failure rate. The results given in the study may provide a reference applying for practical decision making.

      • 신뢰성 예측 방법론 217PlusTM의 출현 과정에 대한 고찰

        Reliability plays a pivotal role in products safety and quality. DoD RIAC recently developed a new reliability prediction methodology, 217PlusTM, for electronic systems. It officially replaces the well-known MIL-HDBK-217 and is expected to be widely used. Although theoretic study about 217PlusTM and its application towards field systems seem to be attractive, it is also desirable to understand the general background of its development. In this paper, we performed a historical review of the arenas related to reliability prediction. Due to the vast of materials, our scope was limited to the development of 217-PlusTM. We first reviewed Rome Laboratory and RIAC. We then explained the development course of reliability methods, MIL-HDBK-217, PRISM, and 217-Plus. This review will form not only a good understanding of the methodology but a basis for future study. We conclude this study with provision of future research areas.

        Product reliability plays a significantly important role these days. This study has been performed to examine the widely being used specifications, MIL-HDBK-217 and SR-332 for electronic parts. We specifically selected an electronic ballast of the low wattage fluorescent lamp for the study. We briefly reviewed the reliability specifications with the basic concepts of the ballast. We then valuated failure rates of the parts using MIL-HDBK-217 and SR-332 specifications. Since the quality and environment factor values are subjectively determined for failure rate evaluations, we excluded them for comparison.

        Industrial efforts for increased market sales have directed towards the development and implementation of on-line marketing systems under recent e-business environment. Internet-based shopping mall is one of the most popular system. A business process model for an intermediary type shopping mall using IDEFO has been presented in this study. Specific efforts have been focused on defining and analyzing a diversity of business processes embedded in practical B2B and B2C mall system operations. We first briefly examined the considered system with IDEFO design. We then defined fundamental business processes within shopping mall systems. Upon careful examination and analysis of them, a detailed business process model based on IDEF methodology has been designed. The results in this study may well form a conceptual framework for shopping mall development and operations.

        A study to synthsize the recent concept and significance of quality and quality control has been performed in this paper. With understanding the recent market and manufacturing environment, we first discuss the significance of quality from the system view point. Then the existing definitions of quality have been rigourously examined and some significant features embeded in them have been derived. Through this examination, we specifica address " endless-effort for improvement" with three key elements required for successful implementation in quality control programs. Taguchi's quadratic loss function with regard to the addressed quality concept has also been discussed, Finally, we conclude this study with providng a view toward the development of new models.

      • SR-332에 의한 전자식 안정기의 신뢰성 모형

        As the level of technology and the standard of living improve, product reliability plays an increasingly significant role. This study has been performed to build a reliability model of electronic ballasts for the low wattage fluorescent lamp. Telcordia SR-332, one of the most widely used reliability specifications, was selected for the model development. We briefly reviewed the basic concepts of the electronic ballast. We then developed a reliability model for the ballast using SR-332 concepts and the reliability has been examined. We further discussed the significance of the first-year failure effect on the mean life.

        춘천 레고랜드를 대비한 시내 교통 기반 분석

        춘천시는 세계적인 테마파크 중 하나인 레고랜드를 건설중에 있다. 본 연구에서는 춘천레고랜드를 대비한 시내 교통기반에 대한 분석을 수행하였다. 먼저, 레고랜드와 관련한 현 춘천시의 교통 상황을 검토하였고 이를 기반으로 잠재적인 고객 및 도착률, 도로, 레고랜드로 진입 경로에 대한 정의를 수행하였다. 교통 상태를 반영하는 평가치인 점유율을 기반으로 분석을 위한 실험을 설계하였고 시뮬레이션을 통해 결과를 얻었다. 피크시즌에 심한 교통 체증이 예상되며 특히 도로 9,11,16에서 정도가 특히 심각하다는 결과이다. 이 도로들의 차선수 증가를 통한 추가적인 실험을 수행하였으며 시내 교통상 큰 개선된 결과를 도출하였다. Chuncheon city is constructing a world-wide famous theme park, Chuncheon Legoland. In this study, analysis of the city traffic infrastructure for Chuncheon Legoland has been performed. We first reviewed the current city traffic condition with regard to the park. We then defined potential customers and arrivals, streets, and routing street sequences to the park. Based on a measure, occupation ratio, reflecting traffic condition we designed experiments for analysis and obtained results from simulation. Our results indicate that severe traffic delay is expected during the peak season and is significant especially in streets 9,11,16. We performed additional experiments with increasing the number of lanes of them and obtained improved results.
