Background: Various pharmacological treatments have been suggested to treat osteonecrosis of the femoral head. However, their practicability remains a controversial issue. Methods: We systemically reviewed articles published during last 20 years to assess the efficacy and safety of the pharmacological treatments. Results: To date, enoxaparin, statins, bisphosphonates, iloprost and acetylsalicylic acid have been practiced for the treatment of osteonecrosis. However, none of them were proven to be effective by high level studies, and most of them have adverse reactions. Conclusions: No pharmacological prevention or treatment of osteonecrosis is recommendable at this moment.

The K-Ar age determined on six granitic rocks samples from the Eonyang- and the northwestern part of Ulsan-quardrangle, Kyeongsang-nam-do, Korea, ranges from $87{\times}10^6$ years to $58{\times}10^6$ years. Three of the samples belong to the upper Cretaceous ($87{\times}10^6-71{\times}10^6years$) and three to the late Cretaceous-early Tertiary ($63{\times}10^6-58{\times}10^6years$) in age. The early Tertiary ages are measured first on the "Younger Granites" in Korea. These two emplacement periods of granitic rocks are representative that the former is correlated to north Kyushu-Seto Inland belt ($95{\times}10^6-75{\times}10^6years$) and the later to Sanin-central Honshu belt ($65{\times}10^6-50{\times}10^6years$), in southwestern Japan.

For the petrology and weathering characteristics of basalts in the vicinity of Yoˇnil, main joint patterns randomly developed in the basalts, microscopic observation, and chemical analysis of the fresh and weathered rocks were studied and got the following conclusions. 1. The main joint patterns randomly developed in the basalts are divided into 4 patterns, i.e. EW, 80°∼90°N or S; N50°∼60°W, 85°∼90°SW or NE; N30°∼40°E, 70°∼80°NW and N35°∼55°E, 60°∼70°SE. These patterns are seemed to be some direction of columnar joints, which are remarkably developed in the basalts. They generally show vertical dips in the core but they are slightly oblique in the marginal part of basalts. 2. The basalts in this area belong to alkali olivine basalt and are porphyritic texture, of which about 35∼40 percent is phenocryst. 3. The relationship between the released quantities of constituents through weathering process is as follows: (Na_2O, K_2O)>(MgO, FeO+Fe_2O_3); MgO>FeO+Fe_2O_3; Na_2O.K_2O 4. Released quantity of 'Al_2O_3' is neoformed into chemical compoud of 'Al_2O_3' in the immediate vicinity of dissolving area, 'H_2O' content is increased by dint of hydration, 'SiO_2' is released by small amounts, and the amount of 'CaO' increases subsequently after decreasing. 5. Sequence of released constituent cations in the early stage of weathering can be summarized as follows; Ca, Na, Si, K, Mg, Fe, Al. And those in the last stage of weathering are Na, Si, Mg, K, Fe, Ca, Al. In process of weathering, decreasing rate of 'Co' is higher than that of 'Cr'.
