Potentiality for ortho-carboranyl complexes as photonic materials

This research provides various synthetic approaches to the development of novel photonic materials possessing enhanced response based on Lewis acidic properties of o-carborane cages. Firstly, the o-carborane cages which possess high electron-withdrawing ability and high stability were combined with the triarylborane sensors so as to increase both the Lewis acidity. Secondly, we could report the observation of the unprecedented electron-accepting properties of a 1,3,5-tris-o-caboranyl benzene compound, together with DFT calculations. Finally, p-terphenyl, biphenyl and fluorene based luminescent o-carborane compounds are designed and synthesized. Consequently, carborane based new photonic materials will be first pursued and then the characteristics of such materials can be commonly applied to the photonic devices.

염증장질환의 역학 및 진단

Background: Over the past three decades, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) have been rapidly increasing in the African, South American, and Asian countries, including Korea. However, in Korea, the public awareness of IBD remains low, and diagnostic delay is not uncommon due to the physicians' lack of clinical experience. It is essential to understand the trends and regional differences in the epidemiology of IBD for proper diagnosis and treatment. Current Concepts: Although lower than those of the West, the prevalence and incidence of IBD in Korea rank among the highest in Asia and are steadily increasing. In the past 10 years, the prevalence of IBD has almost doubled, while its incidence has decreased gradually. As compared to Western IBD patients, Korean patients have higher proportion of proctitis in ulcerative colitis, male predominance, more ileocolonic involvement, and higher incidence of perianal fistula in Crohn disease. There is no single gold standard for the diagnosis of IBD. Thus, diagnosis can be made by clinical evaluation, including a detailed history taking, physical examination, and a combination of endoscopic, radiologic, laboratory, and histologic findings. Discussion and Conclusion: Population-based studies have revealed the current trends and characteristics of the epidemiology of IBD in Korea. Continued education and development of diagnostic tools will help clinicians to diagnose IBD accurately and differentiate it from other diseases such as intestinal tuberculosis.

치매노인의 안전을 위한 경찰의 역할과 과제

치매노인의 증가로 인해 치매노인을 위한 시설확대와 가출예방을 위한 여러 가지 방안을 맞추었지만 지속적으로 증가되는 추세이며, 이에 경찰의 부담이 가중되고 있다. 치매노인이 가출할 경우 경찰의 수색에 소요되는 시간과 동원인력들은 강력범죄에 비슷할 만큼 많다. 따라서 본 연구는 치매노인의 가출예방과 보호지원을 보다 효과적으로 해결할 수 있도록 치매노인 부양가족 및 경찰의 역할을 고찰하고자 하며, 이를 기반으로 치매 노인 안전정책에 대한 이론적 근간을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 경찰은 치매노인을 보호하기 위해 안전인프라 구축과 정보공유시스템을 통해 치매노인보호를 위한 사회안전망을 확충하는데 지속적으로 협력이 필요하다. 또한, 지역별로 다른 기관들과의 협업을 통한 사회안전망을 구축하는 것은 치매노인안전 강화에 큰 도움을 줄 것이다. 보건복지부와 협력하여 취약 노인돌봄체계를 구축하고 치매노인들을 보호하며 민간단체들과 협력을 통해 가출 치매노인의 조기발견에 도움을 주는 등 사회안전망의 구축은 치매노인보호를 위한 매우 효과적인 대책이 될 것이다. 앞으로 경찰은 치매노인의 가출방지를 위한 순찰과 방문활동 등을 통한 가출시 초기발견과 경찰의 신속한 수색 강화해야 한다. 그리고 치매노인 가출 활동에 대한 준비를 철저히 하고 체계적, 효율적으로 관리를 위해 경찰청 주도의 노인안전을 위한 전담부서를 신설하는 방안을 포함한 제도적인 장치를 마련하는 것이 우선적으로 필요하다. 또한 치매노인을 대상으로 한 실종 사건 등과 같은 각종 사건 사고발생 시 빠른 대처와 예방을 위하여 다른 유관 기관의 협력을 통하여 적극적으로 해결하고 보건복지부와 협력을 통해 치매노인들에 대한 효율적인 관리와 치매노인의 가출을 예방해야 할 것이다. 치매노인보호활동의 강화를 하기 위해서는 경찰기관의 단독적 활동으로는 어려움이 있다. 따라서 여러 정부기관과 민간단체, 지역사회 등과 연계한 종합적인 사회안전망 시스템을 구축하는 것을 필요로 한다. 이에 덧붙여 치매노인보호에 대한 사회적 분위기의 제고를 위해서 이와 관련된 다양한 홍보 및 교육의 실시가 필요하다. This research purposes to analyze the determinants of subsidiary reverse knowledge transfer by using the cases of foreign subsidiaries in Korea. The strategic role of subsidiary in MNC is very important in these days. I suppose that this phenomenon is caused by subsidiary reverse knowledge transfer. In this paper, I suggested three factors as determinants of on subsidiary reverse knowledge transfer, ① subsidiary knowledge creation, ② the strength of subsidiary in a MNC network, ③ subsidiary's social capital, and estimated the effect of three factors on subsidiary reverse knowledge transfer. My findings indicate that subsidiary knowledge creation and the strength of subsidiary in a MNC network can positively influence on subsidiary reverse knowledge transfer. However, I found no support for the effect of subsidiary's social capital on that. I discuss the implication of my analysis for motivating subsidiary reverse knowledge transfer in the context of MNC global competitiveness.
