PURPOSES: The purpose of this study is to compare the advantages and disadvantages of 3D multichannel ground penetrating radar (GPR) equipment, which is mainly used for road cavity detection. The optimal signal analysis method was also proposed for 3D GPR data. METHODS: Four types of 3D GPR equipment were used to detect road cavities in a pilot road section in Seoul. The obtained GPR signals were evaluated in the time and frequency domain using raw data. In addition, various types of filters were applied to time domain (B-scan) data to examine the optimal signal processing. RESULTS: The time and frequency domain analysis of raw data showed that all the equipment produced reverse and strong signal reflections owing to the low dielectric permittivity of air in the cavity compared with neighbor materials. Also, the asymmetric parabolic curve was observed as well. The optimal signal processing method was determined to detect road cavities: zero-setting and background removal should be applied to all equipment. Bandpass filtering can be optionally applied to remove high-frequency noise or direct waves. CONCLUSIONS: Despite the different specifications of GPR equipment in terms of signal generation and bandwidth, the GPR signals were appropriate in terms of zero-setting, noise level, and depth of investigation. Therefore, all the multichannel GPR devices evaluated were found to be suitable to detect road cavities located at depths of 1.0 and 1.5 m after the application of proper filtering process.
여단급 KCTC 훈련결과 빅데이터를 활용한 보병중대 임무별 방어작전 전투승리요인 분석

In this study, big data from the brigade-level Korea Combat Training Center(KCTC) training was used to analyze the factors that contributed to combat victory for each infantry company mission during defensive operations. Unlike previous studies, each infantry company was not assumed to be analyzed in the same mission but was analyzed separately based on its mission. To achieve this, the location information of infantry companies during individual brigade training was plotted on a map to confirm their mission. The results of each infantry company's battle were defined based on military discipline and AAR(After Action Review) data, and explanatory variables related to the combat performance function were derived for each mission. In particular, this study attempted to analyze the results of defensive operations for not only training units but also the OPFOR(Opposing Forces), which allowed for the comparison between well-trained and less-trained units. Through the research results, necessary factors for combat victory for infantry companies and the contents for data construction derived from the research process were presented as policy suggestions.

An active contour model called snake is powerful tool for object contour extraction. But, conventional snakes require exhaustive computing time, sometimes can´t extract complex shape contours due to the properties of energy function, and are also heavily dependent on the position and the shape of an initial snake. To solving these problems, we propose in this paper an improved snake called "shaking snake", based on a greedy algorithm. A shaking snake consist of two steps. According to their appropriateness, we in the first step move each points directly to locations where contours are likely to be located. In the second step, we then align some snake points with a tolerable bound in order to prevent local minima. These processes shake the proposed snake. In the experimental results, we show the process of shaking the proposed shake and comparable performance with a greedy snake. The proposed snake can extract complex shape contours very accurately and run fast, approximately by the factor of five times, than a greedy snake.
