The osteological development in Sebastes koreanus is described and illustrated on the basis of 32 larvae [6.11–11.10 mm body length (BL)] and a single juvenile (18.60 mm BL) collected from the Yellow Sea. The first-ossified skeletal elements, which are related to feeding, swimming, and respiration, appear in larvae of 6.27 mm BL; these include the jaw bones, palatine, opercular, hyoid arch, and pectoral girdle. All skeletal elements are fully ossified in the juvenile observed in the study. Ossification of the neurocranium started in the frontal, pterotic, and parietal regions at 6.27 mm BL, and then in the parasphenoid and basioccipital regions at 8.17 mm BL. The vertebrae had started to ossify at ~7.17 mm BL, and their ossification was nearly complete at 11.10 mm BL. In the juvenile, although ossification of the pectoral girdle was fully complete, the fusion of the scapula and uppermost radial had not yet occurred. Thus, the scapula and uppermost radial fuse during or after the juvenile stage. The five hypurals in the caudal skeleton were also fused to form three hypural elements. The osteological results are discussed from a functional viewpoint and in terms of the comparative osteological development in related species.

Using the criteria of previous study, we analyzed the morphological characters of 66 specimens of the Sebastes pachycephalus complex collected from Korea between 2008 and 2013. As a result, the 37 specimens were identified as Sebastes nudus, and the remaining specimens as Sebastes pachycephalus. Sebastes nudus is characterized by the absence of scales below the base of the dorsal fin spines; the absence of dark spots on the dorsal, anal, and caudal fins; and the presence of distinct yellow or brownish-red markings on the dorsum (when fresh). The most similar species S. pachycephalus differs from S. nudus in having minute scales below the base of the dorsal fin spines. We propose the new Korean name “Hwang-jeom-gae-bol-rak” for S. nudus, and redescribe S. pachycephalus.
컴퓨팅 사고(Computational Thinking) 교육에 대한 중⋅고등학생들의 인식과 요구 분석

목적 본 연구는 컴퓨팅 사고(CT) 교육에 대한 수도권과 비수도권의 중⋅고등학생들의 인식 및 요구 분석에 대한 차이를 파악하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 수도권과 비수도권의 중⋅고등학생에 재학 중인 학생에게 구조화된 설문지를 사용하여 2019년 10월 1일부터 약 1개월간 자료를 수집하였다. 자료처리는 SPSS 24.0 프로그램을 사용하여 빈도분석, 기술통계, t 검정, F 검정, 군집분석을 실시하였다. 결과 첫째, 중⋅고등학생들은 컴퓨팅 사고(CT) 교육에 대한 기본 인식 및 환경에 대해 낮게 인식하는 것으로 나타났으며, 컴퓨팅 사고(CT) 교육에 관한 관심이나 인지에 대해서는 부족한 인식을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 성별, 학력, 지역에 따른 컴퓨팅 사고(CT) 교육에 대한 이해와 인식 수준은 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 중⋅고등학생들은 컴퓨팅 사고(CT) 교육에 대한 기본 인식은 높게 가지고 있으나, 교육방식에 관한 인식은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 결론 중⋅고등학생들은 컴퓨팅 사고(CT) 교육에 대한 기본 인식은 높게 가지고 있으나, 교육방식에 관한 인식은 낮았다. 향후 교육 대상의 눈높이에 맞는 교육 콘텐츠나 교수법 개발 및 연구가 필요한 상황이다. Objectives The purpose of this study is to understand the differences between the perception and demand analysis of middle school and high school students in the Seoul metropolitan area and non-capital areas. Methods The subjects of the study were middle and high school students in the Seoul metropolitan area and non-capital areas, and data were collected for about one month from October 1, 2019, using structured questionnaires. Data processing was conducted using the SPSS 24.0 program to analyze frequency, technical statistics, t-test, F-test, and cluster analysis. Results The results of this study show that First, middle and high school students have low awareness of basic and environmental computing thinking (CT), and lack awareness of computing thinking (CT). Second, it was analyzed that there was no significant difference in understanding and recognition of computing thinking (CT) by gender, academic background, and region. Third, middle and high school students have high basic awareness of computing thinking (CT), but low awareness of education methods. Conclusions Middle and high school students had a high awareness of computing thinking (CT), but low awareness of education methods. In the future, it is necessary to develop and research educational contents or teaching methods that meet the level of education targets.
한국 남해에서 채집된 사량넙치 Psettina tosana 자어의 분자 동정 및 형태 발달

A total of 15 larvae [3.53~19.49 mm standard length (SL)] belonging to the family Bothidae collected from the southern sea of Korea in 2016 were identified as Psettina tosana based on 434 base-pair sequences of mitochondrial DNA cytochrome c oxidase subunit I. Larvae of Psettina tosana have anterior-most two elongated dorsal fin rays. Uniserial melanophores present on the dorsal and anal fin base, whereas melanophores on the body absent. An inflection point in the relative growth of head length and head depth against SL was shown between 9.93 mm and 10.73 mm SL. The examined larvae of Psettina tosana are clearly distinguished from the most similar species, Psettina iijimae in having no melanophore patches in the proximity of dorsal and anal fin base. 본 연구는 2016년에 한국 남해에서 채집된 둥글넙치과 자어를 분자방법으로 동정하였으며, 자어의 크기별 외부 형태를 상세히 기술하였다. 채집된 자어 15개체 (3.53~19.49 mm체장)의 mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene (COI) 434 bp의 염기서열을 비교한 결과, 모두사량넙치로 확인되었다. 사량넙치의 자어는 2개의 길게 연장된 등지느러미 기조를 가지며, 등지느러미와 뒷지느러미 기저에 흑색소포가 일렬로 나 있는 반면 체측에는 흑색소포가 없었다. 성장하면서 체장에 대한 두장 및 두고의 비율이 증가 추세에서 감소 추세로 바뀌는 변곡점이 체장 9.93 mm~10.73 mm에서 확인되었다. 사량넙치 자어는 형태적으로 가장 유사한 동백가자미 (Psettina iijimae)와 달리 등지느러미와 뒷지느러미의 기저 근처에 흑색소포군을 가지지 않는 점에서 잘 구분된다.
한국 남해에서 출현한 옥돔과(Malacanthidae) 어류 1 미기록종 Hoplolatilus chlupatyi 치어의 형태기재 및 분자동정

A single juvenile malacanthid specimen (Hoplolatilus chlupatyi) was collected from the South Sea of Korea and identified by DNA barcoding. This species is readily distinguished from other malacanthid species in having well developed rostral spine and elongated spines in the posttemporal and preopercle. A molecular analysis based on mitochondrial DNA COI sequences showed that this species is matched to adult H. chlupatyi (genetic distance = 0.005). Therefore, this is the first record of H. chlupatyi in Korea. We propose new Korean names, “Mu-ji-gae-og-dom-sog” for the genus Hoplolatilus and “Mu-ji-gae-og-dom” for the species H. chlupatyi.
한국 제주도 근해에서 출현한 황성대과(Peristediidae) 어류 1미기록종, Peristedion liorhynchus 치어의 형태기재 및 분자동정

In April 2019, a single Peristediidae juvenile (14.1 mm SL) was collected from the waters off of Jeju-do Island, Korea. DNA barcoding identified the juvenile as Peristedion liorhynchus, an unrecorded species in Korea. P. liorhynchus has eight dorsal fin spines, 22 dorsal and 19 anal fin rays, and a long third pectoral fin ray that passes through the middle of the tail at the juvenile stage. Juvenile also have large heads, extensive head spination, and serrated edges on the ocular and parietal spines. This is the first record of P. liorhynchus in Korea; therefore, we propose the new Korean name, “Nam-bang-hwang-seong-dae”.
