Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is a newly emerging infectious disease, caused by a novel species of Phlebovirus of Bunyaviridae family, in China, South Korea, and Japan. SFTS is primarily known as a tick-borne disease, and human-to-human transmission is also possible in contact with infectious blood. Common clinical manifestations include fever, thrombocytopenia, and leukopenia as initial symptoms, and multiple organ dysfunction and failure manifest with disease progression. Whereas disease mortality is reported to be 12% to 30% in China, a recent report of cumulative SFTS cases indicated 47% in Korea. Risk factors associated with SFTS were age, presence of neurologic disturbance, serum enzyme levels, and elevated concentrations of certain cytokines. Diagnosis of SFTS is based on viral isolation, viral identification by polymerase chain reaction, and serologic identification of specific immunoglobulin G. Therapeutic guideline has not been formulated, but conservative management is the mainstream of treatment to prevent disease progression and fatal complications.

Plant has possessed diverse stress signals from outside and maintained its fitness. Out of such plant responses, it is well known that mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascade plays important role in wounding and pathogen attack in most dicot plants. However, little is understood about its role in wounding response for the economically important monocot rice plant. In this study, therefore, the involvement of MAPK was investigated to understand the wounding signaling pathway in rice. The OsMPK1 was rapidly activated by wounding within 10 min, and OsMPK1 was also activated by challenge of rice blast fungus. Further analysis revealed that OsMKK4, the upstream kinase of OsMPK1, phosphorylated OsMPK1 by wounding in vivo. Furthermore, OsMPK1 directly interacted with a rice defense-related transcription factor OsWRKY53. To understand a functional link between MAPK and its target transcription factor, we showed that OsMPK1 activated by the constitutively active mutant OsMKK4DDphosphorylated OsWRKY53 in vitro. Taken together,components involving in the wounding signaling pathway, OsMKK4-OsMPK1-OsWRKY53, can be importantplayers in regulating crosstalk between abiotic stress and biotic stress.
GLOBAL GRADIENT ESTIMATES FOR NONLINEAR ELLIPTIC EQUATIONS

We prove global gradient estimates in weighted Orlicz spaces for weak solutions of nonlinear elliptic equations in divergence form over a bounded non-smooth domain as a generalization of Calder´ on-Zygmund theory. For each point and each small scale, the main assumptions are that nonlinearity is assumed to have a uniformly small mean oscillation and that the boundary of the domain is sufficiently flat.
보편으로서의 할리우드와 조선영화의 자기규정의 수사학-<군용열차>에 나타난 분열의 양상과 해석 가능성을 중심으로-

본 논문은 발성영화로의 전환기에 조선영화계가 스스로의 존재 방식을 모색하 는 과정에서 할리우드의 문화적 영향력을 밝히고, 조선영화의 ‘로컬리티’ 문제를 ‘내셔널 시네마’의 관점에서 읽어 내는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 1930년대 중반, 조선 영화계는 조선영화만의 고유한 미학적 자질을 발견하는 데 많은 관심을 두고 있었 고, 보편으로 환원될 수 없는 고유한 미학적 자질을 ‘로컬리티’라는 개념으로 포착 했다. 그리고 그와 같은 ‘로컬리티’는 할리우드 영화를 통해 감각했던 동시대의 ‘리 듬’과 ‘템포’의 문제와 긴밀하게 결부된 문제였다. 기존의 영화 연구에서 조선영화 의 ‘로컬리티’ 문제는 ‘제국 일본의 조선영화’라는 틀 속에 주로 논의되어 왔고, 그 결과 제국 일본의 정책적 자장 안으로 수렴되는 논리로 규정되었다. 그러나 실질적으로 조선영화의 ‘로컬리티’ 담론은 ‘조선적인 것’을 전시하는 것과 같은 ‘내용’ 의 문제라기보다 영화적 연출법과 같은 ‘형식’의 문제였고, 이는 상호교통 가능한 국제영화(inter-national cinema)라는 장(場)과 연동된 개념이었다. 이러한 맥락에서 서광제가 연출한 <군용열차>(1938)는 새롭게 해석될 필요가 있다는 것이 본고의 문제의식이다. ‘최초의 친일영화’로 규정된 <군용열차>는 조선 영화계가 스스로의 존재 방식을 모색하는 과정에서 파생된 작품이자 형식과 연출 의 차원에서 조선영화의 ‘로컬리티’를 실현하려는 시도의 산물이기도 하였다. <군용열차>라는 작품이 그 내용에 있어서 ‘선전영화’임은 부정할 수 없지만, 그것으로 환원되지 않는 해석 가능성 또한 열려 있기에, 새로운 독해가 요구되는 것이다. This study aims to clarify and redefine the cultural influence of Hollywood cinema on Chŏsun cinema’s self- positioning practice in the period of transition to sound film. In the mid-1930s, Chŏsun film makers attempt to find and establish the singularity of aesthetics of Chŏsun cinema in terms of a locality. In many cases, discourses concerning the ‘locality’ of Chŏsun cinema regarded as pro-Japanese discourses, focus on the logic of collaboration. In fact, however, the concept of locality in Chŏsun cinema was related to a classical Hollywood-influenced cinematic style characterized by invisible editing and cinematic illusion which generated sensations such as contemporaneous ‘rhythm’ and ‘tempo.’ Therefore Chŏsun cinema’s locality was not limited to the Japanese Empire’s locality but rather extended to the sphere of international cinema, which could be considered an inter-trafficable system. In this context, Military Train(1938), directed by Seo-Gwangje, and known as the first pro-Japanese film, should not be seen as mere propaganda. In practical terms, this film also arose from the process of Chŏsun cinema’s experimental aesthetics. The issue of pro-Japanese films presents a very complex problem, which has not yet been definitely resolved. In light of this issue, the present paper intends to present a possible interpretation of Military Train.
코로나바이러스감염증 2019에서 흉부X선사진 및 CT의 역할과 인공지능의 적용

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has threatened public health as a global pandemic. Chest CT and radiography are crucial in managing COVID-19 in addition to reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, which is the gold standard for COVID-19 diagnosis. This is a review of the current status of the use of chest CT and radiography in COVID-19 diagnosis and management and anㄷ introduction of early representative studies on the application of artificial intelligence to chest CT and radiography. The authors also share their experiences to provide insights into the future value of artificial intelligence. 코로나바이러스감염증-19 (coronavirus disease 2019; 이하 COVID-19)는 전 세계적 대유행질환으로 인류 보건을 위협하고 있다. 흉부 CT 및 흉부X선사진은 COVID-19의 표준 진단검사인 역전사 중합효소 연쇄반응에 더하여 COVID-19 진단 및 중증도 평가에서 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 본 종설에서는 흉부 CT 및 흉부X선사진의 COVID-19 폐렴에 대한 현재 역할에대하여 살펴보고 인공지능을 적용한 대표적 초기 연구들과 저자들의 경험을 소개함으로써향후 활용가치에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.
